IIMA offers two year full time residential MBA/ (PGP) for graduates from all disciplines who wish to make a career in management
IIM Ahmedabad MBA (PGP) Eligibility
- 3 year bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45 % in case of the candidate belonging to SC, ST, PwD category from a recognized University, after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
- Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from university certifying that they have obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) in latest grades/marks.
- Final year or candidates awaiting results , if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate before commencement of program.
IIM Ahmedabad MBA (PGP) Selection Criteria
IIM Ahmedabad Selection is a 4 stage criteria, where candidates are assessed on each stage of the process and candidates satisfying the eligibility and cutoffs make it to the final and get an admission call from the college.
The stage-wise criteria for IIM Ahmedabad Shortlisting is given below:
- Preliminary Screening of Candidates: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT cutoff.
- Calculation of Composite Score: After filtering out the most eligible candidates, IIM Ahmedabad will now assess candidates on the basis of the CAT Score and Academic profile.
The profiles of candidates will be considered on the basis of the “Application Rating Score” which comprises of 4 components, namely
A:10th Standard Score; B: 12th Standard Score; C: Graduation level score (Score 0); D: Work experience.
So, Application Rating Score: AR= (A+B+C(0)+D).
The AR now will be computed on a scale of 25 (considering class 10th marks, class 12th marks and candidate’s work experience) and the points will be pro-rated to 35.
Composite Score (CS): CS = 0.35* (Pro-rated AR Score/35) + 0.65* (Normalized overall CAT Score)

- Shortlisting for Analytical Writing Test (AWT & PI): Candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interview on the basis of the composite score ‘CS’ subject to their fulfilling criteria as mentioned the pdf given above. Finally an Upper Limit (UL) on the number of candidates to be shortlisted per RC for AC-1, Ac-2, AC-3, AC-5.
- Final Selection: The selection at this stage will strictly be based on the shortlisting of the candidates done separately for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD) on the basis of their ‘Final Composite Score’s (FCS). The score will be calculated as
FCS = PIF * Normalised PI Score + AWTF + CATF_FCS * Normalised CAT Score + ARF_FCS * AR
IIM Ahmedabad PGP (MBA) How to Apply?
For admission to PGP (MBA program) IIM Ahmedabad conducts CAT, in association with other 20 IIMs of the country. To fill the application form, aspirants are requested to follow the given steps:
- Visit the official website of IIMA
- Click on New Registration.
- Fill in all the required details and provide a valid email and phone number.
- Applicants will receive a user id and password for further use.
- Enter the OTP and click on Validate OTP and submit after entering the Captcha Code.
- Check on “I Agree” and submit the CAT application form.
- After submitting the details, a message on the registered mobile number containing the Password and an email containing the User ID will be sent.
- Post successful completion of CAT Registration, a unique login id and password is generated.
- These credentials are vital for filling CAT Application Form 2021.

IIM Ahmedabad PGP-FABM Admission Criteria 2022
The postgraduate program in Food and Agri-business Management (PGP-FABM) is 2 year program designed to develop managers, leaders and entrepreneurs in an increasingly competitive and globalizing food and agri-business sector.
IIM Ahmedabad PGP-FABM Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Sciences or a relevant discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (a relaxation of 5% marks is granted for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories) are eligible for admission.
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in any specialization can also apply on the conditions of having strong interest in agriculture, food, rural and allied sectors. Such candidates will be required to submit a special form. Failure to submit the form will lead to disqualification.
IIM Ahmedabad PGP-FABM Selection Criteria
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of Group Discussion and personal Interview of the candidates who have applied for the program and have a valid CAT score. An overseas candidate having a background in food and agriculture can apply with GMAT score instead of CAT score.
For shortlisting candidates for PGP-FABM program 65% weightage will be given to the scores of CAT and 35% weightage to the Application Rating Score. Shortlisting of Candidates with bachelor’s degree or equivalent will be provisional subject to the submission of specified form (Specifying the nature of interest in the program).
The application Rating score will be based on Class 10, Class 12 and bachelor Exam scores as follows:
- Marks of applicants, who are yet to complete Graduation will be computed as per available marks.
- CA/ICWAI/CS qualified candidates (without bachelor’s degree), the average of intermediate and final exam percentages would be treated as bachelor’s degree marks.
- For computing AR score,10th and 12th Std. scores will be considered irrespective of whether or not the board considers them for calculating the percentage.
- For bachelor’s degree, the percentage of marks awarded by the institute/university will be treated as final.
- For candidates having a 5-year integrated master’s degree, percentage of marks obtained in the first 3 years will be considered as bachelor’s degree percentage.
Composite Score: Composite Score = 0.35 * ARS (Application Rating Score) + 0.7 * NCS (Normalized CAT Score).
Normalized CAT Score
NCS: Normalized CAT Score of an individual = (NQS + NDILR + NVCRS) / 3
NQS = QS / (Average of top 50 QS)
NDILRS = DILRS / (Average of top 50 DILRS)
NVCRS = VRCS / (Average of top 50 VRCS)
Where NCS: Normalised CAT Score; NQS: Normalised Quant scaled score; NDILRS: Normalised Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning Scaled Score; NVCRS: Normalised Verbal & Reading Comprehension scaled score
Application Rating Score
The Application Rating score of a candidate can be determined by following the given formulae.
ARS (Application Rating Score) of a candidate = [Rating Score A+ Rating Score B + Rating Score C]/35.
Rating Scores “A”, “B” and “C” are computed based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th Standard, 12th Standard (depending on the stream viz. Science, Commerce and Arts) and the Bachelor/Master degree programme (depending on the disciplines) respectively.

- AC-1 (Agriculture): Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Entomology, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Seed Science & Technology, Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Business Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Statistics, etc., Animal Husbandry, Dairy Science/Technology, Horticulture including Vegetables and Floriculture.
- AC-2 (Allied Agriculture) : Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Fisheries, Food Management, Forestry, Veterinary Science, Food Technology and any variants of this degree such as Food and Bio-Technology, Food Process, etc., Rural Studies/Rural Sociology/Rural Cooperatives/Rural Banking, etc.

Final Selection
For final selection of candidates for the programme, 10% weightage would be given to AWT, 40% weightage would be given to PI Score and 50% weightage would be given to the Composite Score to arrive at the Final Composite Score.

Note: The AWT and PI scores of a candidate are normalized by dividing with the corresponding maximum possible score that could be obtained.
Reservation:
- 27% of the seats are reserved for NC-OBC, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST candidates.
- 5% seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
- 10% seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

IIM Ahmedabad PGPX Admission Criteria 2022
PGPX (Post graduate management program in Management Executives) or Executive MBA is a one year management program offered by IIM Ahmedabad.
IIM Ahmedabad PGPX Eligibility
- A bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or equivalent in any discipline.
- Minimum age of 25 years as on 31st March of the year in which the PGPX programme commences.
- Valid GRE score.
- Minimum 4 years of full-time work experience after completion of graduation as on March 31, 2020.
Note: The shortlisted candidates must submit the essays on the specified topics.
IIM Ahmedabad PGPX Selection Criteria
IIM Ahmedabad will select candidates on the basis of GMAT/ GRE score. The selection process for the PGPX 2023-24 batch is a two-stage process.
Stage 1: Candidates will be short-listed for the Personal Interview.
Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel of IIMA faculty members.

- IIM Ahmedabad recently added GMAT/ GRE apart from CAT as a shortlisting criteria for ePGP program.
