IIT Madras Scholarships

- Merit-cum-Means Institute Scholarships: IITM offers up to 67 percent tuition fee exemption to only 25 percent of admitted students. MCM scholarships are available to students whose annual parental income is less than INR 4.5 Lakhs. In addition, a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester is required to renew this scholarship.
- Similar to the MCM scholarship, IIT Madras provides a free studentship to students whose annual parental income is less than INR 4,50,000 lakhs. Under this scheme, students are exempt from paying 67 percent of the tuition fee. However, only 25% of UG students are eligible for the scholarship.
- Institute Notional Prize: Based on JEE rank and annual parental income of less than INR 4,50,000, IITM awards a one-time grant of INR 1000 to the top 7% of admitted students.
- SC/ST Scholarship: IITM provides renewable institute SC/ST scholarships to students from SC/ST categories whose annual parental income does not exceed INR 4,50,000. Tuition fees are waived for students who participate in this scheme, as well as free messing and a monthly pocket allowance of INR 250.
