Admission to NIT Silchar
NIT Silchar admissions for 2022 are now open. The MBA programme at the institute is currently accepting applications. The application period for the BTech, MTech, and MSc programmes is now closed. Candidates seeking admission to the institute must participate in the following additional admission processes:
Registration for the BTech programme in JEE Main 2022 will close on March 31. JEE Main 2022 does not have a Form Correction facility. Candidates are advised to carefully complete the application forms. The April session of the JEE Main 2022 exam is scheduled for April 21, 24, 25, 29, and May 1, 2022. Candidates taking the exam can prepare by practising JEE Main 2021 question papers.
GATE 2022 scorecards were made available on March 22. The scorecards can be downloaded until May 31, 2022. Candidates who pass the exam will be able to participate in the GATE CCMT 2022 counseling process. The registration portal will be available beginning in the first week of June 2022.
IIT JAM 2022 scorecards are also now available for download. Candidates who pass the IIT JAM 2022 Cutoff will be eligible to participate in the counseling process. Counseling for IIT JAM CCMN 2022 is expected to begin in the first week of June 2022.
In addition, the NIT Silchar MBA application process has been extended until April 11, 2022. Previously, the application deadline was set for March 31. On April 17, after completing the application process, the institute will announce the list of candidates who have been shortlisted for the GD and PI rounds (tentatively).

NIT Silchar B.Tech Admission 2022
NIT Silchar offers a regular B.Tech program in six specializations to its students. Admission to the course will be determined by the results of the JEE Main and JoSAA counseling.
Eligibility Criteria for NIT Silchar B.Tech
- Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (12th) from a recognized board of education.
- Candidates must take the JEE Mains exam at an NIT.
Criteria for Silchar B.Tech Selection
- Admission will be based on JEE Mains and JoSAA performance.
- Seat allocation for JEE Mains candidates will be handled by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority.
- A merit list is created based on the results of this examination, and selected candidates are notified about the admission process.
How Do I Apply for the JEE Main?
- Sign up for the JEE Main exam.
- Fill out the personal and academic information and upload scanned images of the candidate’s photograph and signature.
- Follow the online instructions to pay the application fee with a debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or PAYTM.
- Print the Confirmation Page after successful payment and keep it for future reference.

NIT M.Tech Admission in Silchar in 2022
On a regular basis, the institute offers a two-year M.Tech program in Specializations. Candidates can also enroll in 5-year Dual Degree programs. Admission to this program is based on the GATE/JEE Advanced Exam score.
M.Tech Eligibility Criteria at NIT Silchar
- A pass at the undergraduate level from any nationally recognised university or college. A minimum aggregate of 60% is required.
- Only bachelor’s degrees in engineering or technology are accepted. The undergraduate course had to be related to the Master’s subject.
M.Tech Selection Criteria at NIT Silchar
- Selection will be based on performance and GATE score.
- The board conducts the counseling process for the selected candidates based on their rank once the GATE scores are released.
- Candidates submit their documents for verification at this stage and are asked to choose the institute of their choice.
- The COAP portal then sends acceptance letters to the candidates who have been shortlisted and offers them a seat at the institute of their choice.

MBA Admissions at NIT Silchar in 2022
NIT offers an MBA program with three specializations: marketing, finance, and human resources. Admission to the course will be based on academic performance, CAT/MAT/CMAT scores, a group discussion, and an interview.
MBA Eligibility Criteria at NIT Silchar
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with a total aggregate of 55 percent or 6.0 CGPA/ CPI. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Person with Disabilities (PwD) categories are eligible for a 5% or 0.5 CPI/ CGPA relaxation.
- To be eligible for NIT Silchar MBA admission, a candidate must have taken the CAT/ CMAT/ MAT with a minimum cutoff of 50%.
- Those in their final year of high school are also eligible to apply for NIT Silchar MBA admission.
- Distance bachelor’s degrees recognized by DDE and IGNOU are eligible for NIT Silchar MBA admission.

PhD Admissions at NIT Silchar in 2022
The University also offers doctoral programs in almost all of the Institute’s disciplines. Applications for these programs are accepted in two batches, the first being the July – December batch, with applications closing near the end of April.
PhD Eligibility Criteria at NIT Silchar
- M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in an appropriate field with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (60 percent of marks). At least 8.0 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (75 percent of marks). The minimum CPI requirement for IIT/NIT graduates is 7.0. (on a 10-point scale).
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a scale of 10) or equivalent (60 percent of the time).
Ph.D. Selection Criteria at NIT Silchar
- NIT Silchar PhD admission will be based on an entrance examination and an interview.
- Candidates with a CSIR or CBSE NET/JRF qualification will be exempt from the entrance examination.
