Scholarships at Punjab University
Scholarships are awarded to deserving candidates based on merit and for athletes, economically disadvantaged students, handicapped students, wards of army personnel, wards of university employees, girls, and candidates from underrepresented groups. The following information is provided:
- Need-based Merit Scholarships for Disabled Students: These scholarships are awarded to students for nine months per year based on the terms of the award from the "Students Scholarship Fund."
- Sports Scholarships: These are awarded based on the Sports Department's grading of Campus students' performance in various sports activities. This scholarship is paid out of the "Students Scholarship Fund" for nine months per year.
- Mrs. Udham Kaur Scholarships: Two scholarships are available to female students at Menon Educational (for a period of ten months) studying in medical colleges affiliated with Pb. University. Strictly on merit, with a monthly salary of INR 1000.
- Stipends from the P.U. Soldier's Relief Fund: To be given to two candidates who are the sons and daughters of members of the Defence Services and are enrolled in Punjab University-affiliated colleges. Children of those who have been disabled or killed in military operations will be given priority and will receive INR 400 per month for ten months.
- Alfred Woolner Scholarship: INR 200 per year for two years to an M.Phil./Ph.D. student with a Master of Arts degree in one of the Indian languages, preferably from Punjab University.
- Financial assistance is provided to deserving P.U. Hostel residents through the "Poor Students Welfare Fund."
