CUSAT CAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

It is critical for candidates to understand all eligibility criteria before taking an exam. The notification will include all of this information. The table below contains specific information about the eligibility criteria.

Nationality

  • For the regular B. Tech or B.E courses, candidates should be of Indian Origin.
  • Candidates from Kerala need to submit their domicile certificate to apply within the state quota.
  • Candidates from foreign countries can opt for other courses. For this, they have to submit the NRI certificates.
  • For applying under NRI quota, the person should be a citizen of India, Person of Indian Origin or Overseas citizen of India.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should be less than 19 years of age to apply for the undergraduate courses.
  • Candidates should be less than 22 years of age for applying for postgraduate courses.
  • Candidates should be less than 28 years of years for M.Phil. and Ph.D.
  • Those who are opting for the doctorate, the age limit for the candidates should be 45 years of age.

Number of attempts

  • Candidates can write as many attempts as possible provided they should strictly adhere with the age limit.

Educational background

  • For undergraduate courses, applicants should have completed 10th and 12th with a minimum of 50% in aggregate. Different courses have minimum marks requirements in different subjects. Refer the official notification for that particular year for more details.
  • For postgraduate courses, students have to submit the GATE score if they want to claim relaxation for the criteria of minimum percentage.
  • For B.Tech in Naval Architecture, candidates should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate and a minimum of 50% in Maths.
  • For M.Phil., candidates should have at least 3 years of teaching experience. There is a reservation of 50% available for the University and the college teachers. 5% relation in the minimum marks is given for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.
  • For Ph.D. courses, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 55% in aggregate in post-graduation from a recognized university and this is 45% for candidates belonging to the SC/St category.
  • For post-doctoral fellowship, candidates should have completed a doctoral degree and there should be two-year experience in the research field.

Reservation criteria

  • Reservation rules are strictly followed for admission. Reservation is available for people belonging to Kerala who is from socially and educationally backward classes, Schedules classes, and Scheduled Tribes.
  • Reservation of 3% is available for the physically challenged category. To become eligible for this reservation, candidates should have at least 40% disability.
  • Candidates who got admission through sports quota will have one seat per course as reservation benefit.
  • In some specific programs, there will be a reservation of 3 seats for the children of CUSAT staff.
  • Reservation is provided for the Jewish Community.
  • Statistical Engineers who are appearing for CUSAT exam will have a reservation of two seats.
  • In every program, one seat is reserved for children of Ex-servicemen.
  • Special reservation is given to people from Lakshadweep based on the list provided by the administration of Lakshadweep.
  • People belonging to Navy will have a reservation of 15 seats.
  • There is a reservation of 2 seats for people from Jammu and Kashmir under supernumerary quota.
  • Different courses will have different reservation based on the specific requirement of that particular year.
  • Reservation is also provided based on the experience
  • For MBA courses, 50% of the seats are allotted for those who have work experience of more than 3 years.
  • For MCA courses, 50% of the seats are allotted for those who have at least two years of teaching experience.
