Just got my process over today... over in 2 hours for me. Started at 9 am, had docs verified, waited for a while. Then we were called up for PI first (for a change)... I guess others who weren't having their PIs were having their GDs in the meanwhile.
Anyway, the PI. No drilling, calm atmosphere. 4-5 members in the panel. You should expect most of the queries based on the profile sheet you've filled up... anything out of it. I was asked to mention something about me that I'd not mentioned in the sheet, then why BIM, etc. Then you might get questions based on your acads (though I didn't have much) But be prepared on current affairs too - recent developments, the Union Cabinet members, etc.
Then the GD, topic was "Problem of Recession in India" - 8 members in the group, 18 minutes allotted for discussion, prior to which there were 2 minutes for gathering our thoughts. Then 5 minutes for writing a summary on what we discussed.
Ganu02 SaysI asked them yesterday in the campus itself about the date at which shortlist will announced they told within the end of the April month...
Are you sure ?
Interview process goes till April 26th and just 4 days left in April

anandbabu86 SaysHey..were you in the morning batch on 17th?
nope ..the 2 pm batch
My GD\PI process got over yesterday... Afternoon slot.
There were about 30 odd people out of a total batch strength of 53. All 53 called were gen category students.
They verified the certificates first - they take a special note of engineering marks overall percentage, and take note of anyone who has any backlogs\arrears. They get a signed declaration of our aggregate engg. marks in a separate small sheet.
The session was kicked off by a couple of BIM students of the 2010 batch. They showed the customary 'look how great my b-school is' flash video. Then they took questions - max sal for 2010 placements is a bit above 10L, average a bit above 8L. He mentioned that the freshers percentage in the 2011 batch is about 30%, and that the freshers ratio has been consistenly decreasing over the years.
I had my PI first - a panel of 4 gentlemen. They take great pains to go through the yellow form which we filled up. I had entered History as a special interest, so tons of questions from that. I had mentioned reading also as a special interest, so many questions based on that too. Since I am working they asked a few questions based on my work. Then some questions about Sensex and the capital markets. That was it - overall PI was good.
Then GD - my panel had 7 people. The topic was 'India Incorporated'. Two minutes to collect our thoughts, 14 minutes discussion. My panel discussed it pretty neatly - a couple of people didnt contribute much, and the others werent overtly aggressive. So overall a nice discussion, I was able to put forth a lot of points.
So everything got over by 4 for me. For a bunch of ppl the process was over even earlier - like within an hour. I asked them before leaving ki when will the results be out - a lady said first or max second week of May.
All the best puys....
I am done with my Interview. I have got 3 years of IT work ex at Accenture.

I reached by 1.20 and I was guided to a waiting hall where the other students were waiting. I signed in a sheet and one by one were called for the certificates verification. They deducted the English marks from the graduation and calculated the percentage and just had a look at the cat score card, work ex certificate and other marksheets.
Immediately after the verification, names were called out. Simultaneously they conducted the GD and PI for different set of ppl. My name was 1st in the Panel1 and we were taken to the GD hall first. The rest were asked to wait for the interview.
GD Process: 8 tags were provided which we have to stick them to our shirts according to our number. I was the 1st in our group. Two members were sitting there to evaluate us.
Topic: GREEN
We were given 2 mins to think about the topic and 16 mins to speak. We were provided a ruled sheet where in we can note down the points in the 1st page. Immediately after the GD, we wre given 5 mins to provide a summary on the discussion and asked to write it down in the 3rd page of the sheet which they provided earlier. They clearly mentioned that the summary should not be something which you think should have been discussed in the GD or your personal views on the topic. It should be the exact summary of what you discussed in the GD and it should not be in the bulleted points.
===============
After the GD we were again asked to wait in the hall. I was called out for Interview in just 15 mis as I was the 1st in my panel. (Panel- 1).
There were 4 panelists. P1, P2, P3, P4. P4 dint ask me anything throughout the interview.
P2 was the Oldest of all and I think he is the senior most faculty member by the way others were referring to him.
P2: Tell me why MBA?
I : Told about my long term goals (setting up my own business and all..) and short term goals..
P2: Are you satisfied with your Job?
I : Yes, very much.
P2: Then why do you want to leave such a good Company and pursue Management course?
I : Its not always that you will do an MBA only if you are not satisfied with your job. I wanted to increase my profile and shift to management side.
P1: Tell me in brief what kind of role you perform at your current job.
I : Told.
P1: When you seriously wanted to do MBA, what made you wait for 3 years? You could have joined immediately after your graduation?
I : Told the reason. Looked a bit convinced.
P2: Tell me something interesting about you apart from what you have mentioned in the form.
I : Told him all stuff
P2: Tell me instances when you were highly acknowledged for your good organizing skills. (As I have mentioned Good organizing skills under strengths in the form.)
I : Told 2 - 3 instances..
P3: Which specialization would you like to choose?
I : Finance.
P3: Do you follow share market?
I : No.
P3: Well, thats fine. Can you tell me what is sensex?
I : Told something..
P2: What is the regulatory body for all the banks in India? Can you tell me any other regulatory bodies such as insurance and all..
I : Told RBI and IRDA..
P1: What are your thoughts on Telangana issue. (As I am from Andhrapradesh. Telangana issue is a demand for a separate state.)
I : I told.. most of it was in very generic sense though
P1: What are the biggest industries in Andhrapradesh.
I : IT, Agriculture, Pharma..
P3: How did you miss the movie industry? (All smiles)
I : Ya.. Its the biggest film maker annually in the whole world . (With a big smile..)
P1: In the agriculture sector, what are the famous crops in A.P?
I : Cotton, Rice, Chillies, etc..
P3: We are done. You may lave. Thank you.
I : Thank you.
The whole interview was for around 15 mins and it was pretty cool. Over all it was a very well organized process. I was out in just 2 hours.
All the best guys:):)
yellajosyula SaysGuys if anyone know how to go IFMR from chennai central, please tel l how much time it wil take.
When u come out of the station, you ll find a pre-paid auto counter at 1 corner. Go there and tell them "Kothari road, nungambakkam". the police will generate a slip(Rs.82) and hand it over to you. Volunteers ll help you to get in an auto and you need to pay the same amount. Taking pre-paid auto is the best and safe option in case you are new to chennai.
Guys pls post your experiences in the separate thread created for GD/PI experiences :

X : 89.6
XII : 82
Grads : B.Tech (final yr)
Date : 21 April
Slot : 2 pm
Venue : IFMR, Chennai
Registration process ( ie verification of documents) started a little before 2pm itself as most people had arrived early.
While that was taking place, two seniors from Batch 25 gave us a presentation on BIM. They also entertained questions from the applicants..
Then after some time we were called for the interview.. I was 4th in my panel
Panelists : P1,P2,P3,P4 and me: M
P2 was the senior-most faculty among those present..
P4 probably was more of an observer..
P4: Tell me about yourself
M : told
P4: One non-evaluating question.. Where else do you have calls from?
M : told..
P2: Another non-evaluating question.. if you get calls from all of them how would you select a college?
M: told..
P4: Do you know anyone who has studied in BIM?
M: no..
P3: So, how did you know about BIM?
M: told my brother was interested in mba..and at that point, my parents had done a lot of research......
P1: What does your brother do now?
M: told....
P1: So he's an mba??
M: no..
P2: Why MBA? Why shift from IT to MBA? (IT is my specialization)
M: told..
P3: What section do you read more in newspapers? Can you tell me 1 week's news?
M: told..Started about IPL.. and RBI revising CRR,repo and reverse repo rates..
P3: What is the present rate of inflation?
M: Said that I'm not too sure..was a double digit figure.. probably around 11 %..
P3: Well, you wouldn't know the exact figure because they've stopped releasing those figures once it went upto double digits!!
Everyone laughs..
P3: What do you understand by negative inflation?? is it good??
M: told about prices probably getting reduced.. and negative inflation too isn't good..because for growth of economy, you need around 3-4% of inflation..
talked about inflation figures being based on Wholesale price index and not Consumer price index which actually affects prices of things that we buy....
Everyone nods in assent..
P3 : What is index? do you know?
M: said something about it being a measure..blah blah..
(The answer that they were expecting was that it is measured according to a base year..so if there's negative inflation, then probably in the base year, prices were too high.. P3 explained all this to me patiently.)
P1: Okay you told about CRR, repo....etc.. what are they?
M (was prepared): told all....
Everyone nods..
P2: You talked about wanting to join a good company.. which companies would you want to join?
M: said that finance is my preferred specialization..and banking sector would be my preferred sector.. so Goldman Sachs......................
Everyone smiles.... It's in the news for all the wrong reasons..
M: Well we don't know how much of it is true.. and JP Morgan.. Merrill Lynch..
P2: Those are all foreign companies..
M: In India.. SBI , ICICI etc..
P2: Why banking sector? Do you know anything about banks?
M: no..i don't know much about banks..but my uncle used to work for ***.... blah blah...
P1: So your uncle is an mba??
M: no sir.....
(that's the third time I've said no.. :-()
P2: Okay you've written that your address is valid only till ********.. so you have plans of shifting?
M: Yes sir..my father is retired..so once i finish graduation..they'll shift to *********
P2: What did your father do? Which company? What did that company make? They are part of which group??
M: told all..
P2: You've written you have participated in some extempore competitions.. so will you speak if I gave you a topic?
" Managers are born and not made "

M: talked for some time.. did reasonably well.. said knowledge can be acquired but blah blah....
P2: So you are saying you don't need us??
Everyone smiles yet again..
M: no no.. knowledge has to be imparted..
P4 comes to my rescue.. says, "That's the topic you gave her.."
Smiles all over..

Panel - Okay that's it.. Thank you.. All the best..
Interview lasted for around 15-20 mis.. I must say, the panelists made me very comfortable and I was at ease throughout the interview..
Wait of around 30mins.. Then GD.
Topic: India Incorporated..
There were two moderators.. a lady and a gentleman. Timings of the GD were similar to those mentioned in previous posts.
There were 7 of us in the group. We were seated according to the order we had our interview.. and I ended up sitting right in the middle as I was the fourth in my panel.. (postional advantage??

The GD went well.. I spoke quite a number of times.. Out of 7, 4-5 spoke well.. And the group was extremely well mannered..
The whole process was well organized.. with everyone being very co-operative.. It was blazing hot in Chennai, and thankfully we were seated in an air-conditioned room, in the waiting area. Even parents were allowed inside the waiting area. They even gave us some tea/coffee in between..
So, in all a great experience..
