u r right...it is a problem faced by a company and what HR has role to play to resolve the issue...hope i answered ur query here..
Im a little late in posting my experience, but up by providing explicit details.
Date: 15th March 2010
Venue: TISS new Campus
Time: 11 AM batch.
We were all ushered into a common room, and were required to mark our attendance on a sheet of paper.
The GD process began on time, and everything was well managed.
GD:
9 people present, 7 smart gentlemen, one pretty lady, and one rascal (Me
)
The GD was a case study in which a Manager was supposed to decide whom to promote..
An employee with 17 years of work experience in the organisation, or a newbie who had done very well in an entrance test meant for the promotion.
The discussion was quite smooth, no glitches, one of the smoothest GDs ive ever been in. I had the privilege of starting, and entered around 7 times in 15 minutes. All my Group members chipped in with quite valid points. Most aspects were covered, and everybody spoke atleast twice.
Pointers:
There is NO TABLE.
Seating arrangement was semi-circular, with a 2 member panel (A gentleman and a Lady) in front. The chairs are quite comfortable, with writing pads on the handles.
No paper/ pencil is provided, We can scribble on the paper with the case study. The paper is collected after the GD ends.
No summary solicited, no essay to be written.
:banghead: I knew something like this would happen. Spent 30 minutes on my interview experience.. but PC got shut down. Why does this happen to me??? :banghead:
Interview:
Interview was just a formality, not worth 70 marks atleast.
4 Panelists, 2 gentlemen, 2 ladies.
No questions on why HR, why TISS, or No Tell me something about yourself.
My verdict:
Looks dicey, Though I didnt give them a reason to reject me, i didnt give them a reason to select me either. Just gonna wait for a while, and see what the results bring. Not very optimistic.
Have decent marks in the entrance test, did reasonably well in GD, Interview will be my nemesis.
guys...
can anyone of you tell till how late the process was going on?
would give an approx idea for return ticket bookings for others...
thanks in adv
ADB for all
Actually it depends. yesterday the last person interview got over at 7 pm.
actually they divide people to respective panels. So yest my friend who was 2 numbers ahead of me was the last person to be interviewed by panel 3 but people after him were assigned to panel 2 so i becames the 2nd person in the afternoon slot for interviews and completed mine by 345 while my freind was the last person so he completed his by 645 pm. so the timing depends
Though I am late to share my experinece none the less i thought i will share it with you puys.
i will write my experinece in the same format as akshay.vannery's post above. ![]()
Date: 15th March 2010
Venue: TISS new Campus
Time: 10 AM batch.
Reached at 915 am. We were givin a small presentation by current 1st yr students of HRM and LR about the course and life at tiss. They were around 6-8 first students to guide us through the entire process and to answer any queries which we had. Then names of the students in 10 am batch were called out and people had to go and sign the attendane sheet.
After that was over we were divided in groups of 8 for the GD and then were taken to our respective GD rooms.
GD:
We had 2 professors to overlook are GD. they gave us a case study in which there is a BPO firm which servers US and European clients. So for operations employees are given european name and they are supposed to speak in their accent. there is a article in a news paper that this is affecting their indian nees and now some empoyees have began talkin about this so what should you do.
We were given 20 min to read as well as to have the discussion. We were told that we could start on our own when we were done reading we would not be given an indication to start.
The discussion was quite smooth, no glitches or fish market, everybody got a chance to speak. My GD was good made relevant points and was present in the GD through out.]
Pointers:
GD is for 20 min so everyone will get a chance to speak so be cool you will get your chance to speak and make your point..
Interview:
Interview I was assigned to panel 2.From earlier feedback I was told that it was the craziest panel of all panels so got the one which I was most dreading and my experinece was not very nice either.
On my panel there were 3 prof's all male.
The first one was asking on general knowledge.
2nd was asking on HR related issues.
3rd was asking on my mechanical background.
Being 2.5 yrs into IT i had no clue about what he was asking related to mechancal. He asked me 4 mechanical questions I did not answer 2 , 2 I said somethin but i am not sure of whatt i said.
the other questions i answered ok.
They didnt ask me why hr and why tiss.
My verdict:
Not very optimistic. with My vibes from the interview i dont think i wil make it.
hello guys..
Can anyone plz let me know what documents are we supposed to carry along with us?? do we need attested photocopies also???also why aren't the 1st day interview takers posting their experiences.???plz ppl do post...
I had carried my marksheets, certificates, TISS GD PI slot printout. My score card printout and resume.
Nobody check my file or any documents.
Only for people who's DAF were not received by TISS they were asked to submit a new one so only that they took. other than that nothin was needed.
If they ain't asking why HR? and why TISS ? then what is the purpose of the interview ?
According to me these are the two most important questions the panel must ask If they are serious about taking the candidate in.

Hi anvesh
The faculty is abviously smarter we know but what factor do they gauge us on? If why HR is out that means a lot of questions related to it are out ( Don't ask which questions U might know which).
Thanks in advance 😃

It was a case std. Here it goes...
You are the HR manager of FMCG comp. There are 2 ppl under u...Ramesh says 25% salary hike to the engg/management grad....Prakash says 60 % salary hike should be given to emp with 4-5 yrs....You do not have sufficient bugdet to fund both...which one would be prefer....
8 ppl....we all did a decent job....
Intvw exp:
Panel was chilled out....It was all abt my work profile.......No why HR..why tiss....done a decent job there as well....
i think work ex ppl were questioned abt their work profile and while interacting with ppl with no work ex...they were quetioned on their grad sub also....
ATB to others...

I am not sure if they have read it earlier or no but i am pretty sure that they could not have read it that day.
When the post lunch interview session started I had seen a lady taking in some 10-15 DAF forms and immediatley after that the next person was called in so dont think they had time to go throught it also few people were initailly assigned to a particular panel and then moved to a differnet one as that panel was clearing up faster dont think both panels woudl have got time to read it that day. it may happen that they must have scrutinised it earlier before 15th march
