[2010-12] Discussion thread for TISS HRMandLR GDPI call getters

k..acknowledged..requesting everyone..to pls decide early so as not to block seats...am sure many desperate souls will have the same request..

Just to clear the air, lemme just elaborate what happened
The initial results were declared in april. this included converts as well as waitlists. The people who made it to the first list were given a window during which they had to pay the fees and confirm their admissions. After the cutoff date, the waitlists were activated. Every week or so, emails were sent to those next in the wailist telling them of confirmations. So if in one week, a person cancelled his admission, in the next week a person from the waitlist was called. This process continued till the college opened. When the college opened, it was realized that some people had not turned up and not even cancelled their admission. so the administration had no way of knowing whether they would join or not. Hence these seats were left vacant. Then later, after about a month in the course, some left for other avenues, and the seats were vacant.

its very sad...sheer wastage...at least people should hv the decency to inform authorities...as a result many deserving candidates..who dream of tiss..could not be a part of this esteemed institute...sincerely hope the same is not repeated...

So our batch should take this initiative. Incase, one of us is not joining the course and has taken admission, then we would cancel our admission before the commencement of the classes.
This would help the waitlisted candidates.
a batch of 48 where 59/60 shtudents could have studied is such a pity:-(

So, here's a plea to all those who're following this thread, to go through the formal procedure of cancellation of admission with the authorities if they choose to select some other options over TISS.
Coz this will make someone else's dream come true!
PS- Puys, if you personally know of someone who does not wish to take admission, please spread the word to him/her.. 😃

Very valid thought brought up. We can also request the institute to devise some mechanism by which they can know if any candidate go for such thing as to not turning up after paying the fees. After all each seat is worth a career for someone..and shouldn't be just left vacant due to carelessness of some candidates.

Seniors -Do u have made any request to authorities to remove this glitch in admission process.

ya seniors can definitely hv a talk with the admissions dept..n let us kno wht they hv to say....

in some of the institute's..its compulsory to b present during induction..else a request is forwarded along with reasons for not attending the same n the possible joining dates...

This is a problem faced by many elite B-Schools, previous year 12 people from IIMC left the course in first year itself, but this adamant behavior of applicants should not be encouraged by any means,
In india competition is paramount, these things affect the society at large,
i know some B-Schools that take the certificates as deposits for lock in period till completion of course and some even get signed bonds against heavy penalty.

I am providing the financial side for TISS 7 Seats...

If these 7 seats were fulfilled, beyond personal knowledge development, value addition to career, that could have benefited the society at large,

by two years they could be tax payers or source of govt. income, the govt. could have spend (Average salary=10,00,000; 2,04,000*7=14,28,000)...the calculation is approximate...

14,28,000 more in its budget allocation each year, or its liability could have been less by 14,28,000 + each year,

The remaining Amount per individual 7,96,000*7=55,72,000 each year, could have been used for various purposes like fueling consumer demand, society development-philanthropy purposes, Financial deposits---investment in further capacity expansions of Corporates, Institutions etc.,

Above all TISS HRMLR is a highly subsidized course, i have no input on how much subsidy/grant is provided by the government but the minimum assumed figure would be more than 5 Lakhs per year for sure, so again loss of (5L*7*2=35Lakhs*2=70 Lakhs),

Apart from all these a few more people could have moved to upper strata of the society, we are Indians above all, resources are limited, we need to be responsible in not just thinking for ourselves but for the whole of the country,
Till that day we are not successful when every Indian is above Poverty line.

(The people for whom the above losses are suffered)
Shame on people with these kind of mentalities, these peoples education is in vain, truth they have learned nothing in life. Leave JBIMS or IIMs, people like them are not even eligible for any B-School which provides a decent placement.

Well said White_snow. Its because tiss is subsidized course (you need to pay 1st term fees of approx 28000 to book your seat) people take this course up and block a seat only to leave it later. For most of them a loss of 28000 does not matter but they are not takin into consideration that they are eatin other aspirants chances who solely depend on getting through into Tiss.
I wish what you said about such people should not be even eligible for any B-School be true but alas there are so many people wiht the same mentality i doubt there is gonna be any change soon.
I just hope nothin like that happens with the next batch of students who ever happens to get through. I just hope all the 60 seats are filled up by deserving students

I wont be able to confirm if the results will come out on 20th for sure, only the tiss authorities would be able to do tat
but for the last 2 yrs results have been declared on the announced date without any delay and there seems to be no reason that it will be delayed this year. So we can expect the results on 20th.

Dear Friends,
I need to confirm that If selected I would leave my job and join TISS. Similarly need confirmation from other guys and girls . One who has even the slightest of the doubt pls speak up now so that someone deserving shuld not loose the seat

Regards
Amit

whoa! I wasn't getting any updates at all 😲 My internals are over now :)..waitng agerly for d result!
And re the popular topic...yes..ppl should be kind enough to inform the college taht they won't be taking admission @ TISS!

ATB once again to all PUYS! 😁

But then..most aren't sure where they'll be selected...and onc ethey get selected @ IIMs or some other college which they rate higher/better than TISS they get so engrossed in the whoel process that they don't think of cancelling calls from other colleges! It's bad.. 😞
