Feels wonderful to see so many TISS-obsessed aspirants out here....
With 3 days to go for the D day .. im sure all of us would be having those bouts of uncertainty,,, "would i make it to the hallowed portals of this great institute" , butteflies in our stomachs n the sorts :)
@ Seniors ...thanx a lot for the loads of help u delved out both on this forum and personally during the GD PI process... hope this liason continues with we as your juniors and later on as alumni of this revered institute...
Some doubts regarding the admission process of last year :
What is the initial installment of fees to be payed ?
Is there a concept of waitlist ? What I could make out from the previous years threads is that they do fill up the vacant seats but am not clear about the procedure...
What was the last wait listed number to get through last year in each of the categories ?
Though awaiting results anxiously ..thought it would be better to clear off these doubts till my sanity is intact ...
since the general tendancy is that sanity of mind is indirectly proportional to the proximity of the Result day
I second that...kalloobhai...avnesh and other seniors i missed here...thank you so very much for guiding us through out the process..right from the exam filling till the pi//answering to our at times funny questions...thanks one n all..seriously tiss stands a league out when it comes to serenity and integrity one looks for in life....words like "package" and "company" doesn't even come in remotest part of mind when tiss feel come there...when i was there at tiss at gd/pi..i just wondered seeing 40+ aged ppl sitting at floor lower than cafeteria..i think it was "Development studies" area..."i just want to sit here like them" in case i dont get thru in final selections..its just a different feeling altogether...Students there are really blessed by god that they made it there....Lets see what's in my fate...Be my result be +ve or -ve....i l just cherish my experience there...and in case i dint make...i just hope to try for it next year..
All the best to all the puys..who are waiting for their results...
It was previous year when i got my hands into the book Beyond the last blue mountain a life of JRD Tata, by R M Lala, amazing facts were provided in the book i was amazed to find the words, thoughts, ideologies, beliefs that people do not believe in anymore, we at the present age live in an unjustified times, where the mantra is perform or perish........
Tata Steel was the first company to introduce pension system, accident insurance policy, it was the company which supplied steel to the allied forces during world war II, It was decades ahead in policies and foundations. Indian steel Industry was provided protection by the Imperial government, in a benchmark regulation that prohibited britain steel companies to dump steel in India, which was a massive achievement by any industry of a colonised country.
J N Tata realized the ideologies of Swami Vivekananda, when both of them became friends in a ship on way for Swamijis Voyage to the US.
Read the following link
Indian Institute of Science - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"After a chance meeting between Jamsetji N. Tata and Swami Vivekananda on a ship in 1893 where they discussed Tata's plan of bringing the steel industry to India, Tata wrote to Vivekananda five years later:
I trust, you remember me as a fellow-traveller on your voyage from Japan to Chicago. I very much recall at this moment your views on the growth of the ascetic spirit in India... I recall these ideas in connection with my scheme of Research Institute of Science for India, of which you have doubtless heard or read"
There lies the foundations of IISC, TIFR, TISS, TERI, etc.,
To study in these instutues is a journey through history, the times of building India, these institutes are time tested for over a century and would remain so, they are not just institutes but they are what New India is all about, the dawn of Scientific & Societal advancement, the dawn of Chandrayaan, Bose-Einstein equation, the death of superstition that surrounded in medival ages, overall a knowledge society which is destined towards a dynamic, vibrant, powerful and symbolic India by next century.

Here we might need the help of the seniors. I believe once the list is out, finding the names and email IDs of the people in the merit list/waiting list is not that difficult Now the second step would be to contact these people through social networking/e-mailing. In case they forget to mail TISS that their seat can be released to some one else, we can remind them J.
This is a good idea.. I think wat needs to be done is make an orkut communnity plus a google group and make everyone join the it.. It would be community for all those who have converted and those waitlisted so that we can track the movement of the waitlist...It would provide a clear idea and respite to waitlisted souls ...
Why it is that it becomes hard to hold nerve when you know the verdict is near....:banghead:
C. K. Prahlad is no more, the individual beyond fortune at the bottom of the pyramid is no more, a terrible loss for the field of management. May his soul rest in peace.

Oh Shit.... when was this... I have read his book and its probably one of the best i have come across....
Its a Huge loss though as he was always regarded as one of the best Management Thinkers of our times...
As per last years records, TISS prefers to seats go empty rather than let wait-listed candidates in...
59 seats werent filled last year..
It gives me the creeps to think of whats gonna transpire this year...
Its been a helluva season, with new slaps every week..
Maybe the final result will bring peace...
Chances are quite dim, as the interview was certainly not upto the mark...
But hoping the good GD performance and a robust written score propel me enough to make the cut...
All the best, Comrades in arms...
(Y) PEACE (Y)

samplingo Sayscan anyone put light on wats the weightage of written n pi n gd thnxxx
I believe the weightage for the written is 70, for pi too 70 and 30 marks for the gd. The final merit list should be based on the marks of all 3 sections together.....
Good idea, go ahead to start a thread for those who will convert and wait-listed !

Though i can understand your anxiety, theres nothing anyone on PG can do to help you out with this...
I guess the results should be out by late evening tomorrow..
Say 7 i guess...
This inference is drawn from the preliminary short-list being promised at 5, and delivered circa 6.30.

Pray to god that no hacker has targeted the TISS website tomorrow. Otherwise things may get complicated...........
Hi Puys...:)
I am writing on this thread, just hours before our fortunes start getting uploaded onto the website, to make a confession. I must admit that I know my result........yes puys I know my result. It is not that I have some links in TISS or that my GD/PI was pathetic. It is just that I love TISS and in these 22 years I have lived for I have never got the thing I loved, wether it be a Bike or a Girl or for that matter an Institute......
I know many of us would be rejected and many selected,, but promise me puys whatever it be a selection or a rejection you will continue to enjoy life, you will continue to beleive in yourself and you will continue to think positively.
After all Love does not ensure success. It's good to see that you people too are crazy about TISS. It gives me a kind of satisfaction. Tomorrow I would just think that there were 59 above me who were more fanatical about the institute.
Into hibernation till the results come out......
