as far as i can remember there are around 55 seats overall... for general however its around 30 i guess... so doing the math.. sud be around 450 calls... inferring the same for general there sud be 240 guys fyting for 30 odd seats... did i hear someone say - it's tough ???
Can we start something similar for this year? Interested puys?
Thanks.
hey its a very good idea. lets start with this. it seems to be a good way forward. wat say puys should we start a new thread or should we continue in this one only?
its one of the easier conversion ratios when u compare it to XL and the likes... But trust me dont get bogged down by the math... just focus on the prep rite now.... the thread u guys found will be extremely useful... we are in the process of making another one.... We are currently busy with our annual business fest Manthan which will be on the 6th and 7th Feb... After that we will get down to this
hey puys n seniors... does anybody have got marks as in they have scored in tiss exam..it would be also imp to get some idea abt the scenario as how much was cutoff and how many ppl were been shortlisted..
@All Some tips on how to prepare for GDs/PIs Firstly, you all must be prepared for any kind of a GD topic like case-studies,social topic, general topic, abstract topic etc etc etc.Until last year there were no case-studies asked in GDs and it was only last year that they have asked case-studies.So be prepared for anything... For general/social topics keep on reading magazines like Outlook, CSR, India today etc...Also, read newspapers like HT or TOI to keep yourself abreast with the latest(Of great help in PI). Also based on your readings, start to form your own opinions regarding the burning issues in todays world. This approach of forming opinions about issues would go a long way to give you a headstart in your GDs... For some knowledge on HR, you can refer to a book named Aswathappa (I had referred to it and it helped me a lot). This book will give all the newbies a good basic understanding of what HR is....Mind you, it is not necessary to read the whole book but only certain key points from each chapter to get a basic understanding...This will definitely help you in HR case-studies....:):) Also read about different labour unions in India(Just read who founded them and which political parties they are attached to) - This really helps during PIs...:) And like Souvik already mentioned,it is vital in PIs to give them the impression that you are truly interested in HR....:)
Sir,
As you have suggested Awasthappa for HR basics. Which one should I refer to HR Management or HR Management Text AND Cases?
i appeared for the interview for 08-10 batch. we had a bunch of seniors from the 07-09 batch.. on being asked the same, they unanimously held that workex (2yrs or more, by the way) had particularly substantial weightage in the selection process. to the extent that 48 of the 60 guys in their batch had work ex. i think it may or may not play a significant role and comes down purely to the quality of the candidate. at the same time, the profs may come up with varying criterion for different years. by the way, i was also intimated that a year of workex is similar to having no work ex at all when it comes to tiss. can any senior enlighten me about this?
Hi sahil goin by the account u mentioned, i wud clarify one pt. TISS had kept some weight, around 30%, for work ex and acad records....but in past years..
from this year onwards the admin committee has decided not to put that wtg anymore. the same was notified specifically thru an Interview article on Pagalguy only, where our course' chairperson was asked the same questiosn and she had stated that clearly (what i jus wrote above)
i'l post in the link to that article shortly,
till then keep ur spirits up, for work ex or no work ex, everybdy has fair chance...
jus move on frm watz past.. wish u good luck for this time
This is the hot topic of discussion to which probably no one has an answer! How did people come to know that 432 calls were given last year? Was it disclosed?
dear aditi
congrtz ... buddy, dnt get worked up on the numbers...these numbers surely dnt predict any great story...coz in reality probability duznt wrks much...
i dnt knw whr did one got the idea of having 432 cals in our year of admin process..surely it was 400+ but lemme put some imp bit of info here..
batch 2009-11 of 55 was picked out of 400+ batch 2008-10 of 65 was picked out of 3000+ batch 2007-09 of 52 (if i remmber corrctly) was picked from 800+
so u see... no particular criteria...plus now that we hav no bounds of calling only wrk ex and acad rich candidates (refer to article from TISS HRM & LR Chairman on Pagalguy, few weeks ago) the fight is open but fair... give it a thot everybody

all the best.. coming back shortly...
nd there is no mechanism til date, which spreads the word in campus abt the no. of calls made for any of the offered course... so sry buddy
Why do i see this uncertainty in the number of seats?? As far as I remember, the Brochure clearly mentions there will be 59 seats this year for the HRM and LR course... Plus, number crunching wont do anyone any good, as the mark sheets arent out yet...
BTW, PUYs, today the Detailed Appliction Form is expected!!! So seniors, please contribute generously with your pearls of Wisdom...
It sure is heartening to see so many torch-bearers light up our path!!

hey akshay sorry if the batch size mislead u it basically reflects the number of people who were a part of the HRM & LR program.. not the numbr of seats offered...
our batch size is 48 duznt means that we were the only 48. Final offer was made to 55 candidates in all of which 7 cudnt join.
as for the increase or decrease in batch size..i gues thats purely admin and acad decision, which they take gauging and assessing the relative proportion between the demand outside campus for any course and the resources-level which can support a particular number...
n ur absolutely correct abt the no. of seats being 59 this year... hope the arriving batch's strength is the same as well

Hey Aastha, Is there no concept of wait list in TISS? I mean, if a certain someone isn't able to join a particular course at TISS, wouldn't the seat be offered to someone else who was just behind him/her?
Hey did anyone download detailed application form (daf) it was mentioned in the result that on 28th it will available on the web site of tiss i didn't find it.............. Help
