Heres my interview experience...Had my interview on 28th Feb 8.30 at the Sanquelim Campus..Sorry 4 posting late but had an event at work so was totally tied up d 4 last 3 days..

The GD topic was Demographic Divident in India, Is it an outstretched idea? 
We were arranged in order of our GIMIDs and I had to make the opening statement first..
No1 really understood the topic and we all spoke about demography, population, education etc...Entered the GD a couple of times but spoke very generally...Then we were given 5 mins 2 write a summary...

GD Topic: Should sports be made a compulsory part of the Indian Curriculum
The GD started with the regular opening statement with all the guys before me supporting the topic as for me I thought it should be made optional not compulsory but more emphasis should be laid on it.
The GD went on nice no fish market stuff we all put in our thoughts and the conclusion went on good too.
Then started with the essay. Although everyone warns you about the short duration, it feels shorter when you're actually writing it. So one has be very fast to articulate.!
PI: Panel had an elderly sir(P1) from operations and one another sir (mr sodhi) (P2) and me : Gorgon
P2: Come in G..Please have a seat.
G:Good after noon sirs and thankyou (both smile in a pleasing manner)
P1: So tell me about yourself and please hand me your file.
G : Told
P2: Just observing (think he kind of liked my suit bczz for the major part of my interview he was just observing me
)P1: So you're working in an EPC compny What softwares do you use and tell me about your job profile.
G:Told
P1: You are actually very enthusiastic about your job and you seem to have good knowledge also. Why do u want to leave such a reputed firm?
G: Gina diye reasons mba mujhe issi field mein aage bharne mein help karega.
P1 and P2 : not very satisfied but still buy it.
P2: So tell me about your hobbies?
G: Told movies bohat dekhta hun series bohatt dekhta hun and haan avid reader nahi hun :D
P2(surprised as hell :wow:): no tell me about any activity which I could relate to the mgt field.
G : Told about the Buisness model of min which won a National Comptt in Detail.
P1: Laughs
P2: Very good. Dekho u already have all the knowledge to start a buisnees. Hamare need kyaa hai.
G : Told advantages the education would give me.
P2: U have a very low score in VA. DI and QA are extraordinarily good. What happened ?
G: Told ki last mein attempt kiya tha nd a long sad story.
P1 (again) : laughs.:D
P2 : So what did u learn from this?
G: Time Management.
P1: Good you know.
P2: Improve this and you would have had a XLRI call.
G: haanji sirr..
P1: You have stood in the CBSE merit list in X and XII for maths. U scored a 99 in QA in XAT. Clgg mein you have straight A's in maths. yarr aap toh Ph.D maths mein yahan kyu aa rahe ho.?
G: Agreed but sir these basically reflect my analytical skills which would help me as a future manager.
P1 (yet again) : LAUGHS.
P2: do u have anything to ask?
G: NO.
P1: ok. then best of luck. and do work hard :D
G: Definately sir. Thankyou. Hope you two have a good day.
In all a very very smooth experience. Felt it could'nt have been better. Hats off to GIM authorities and proffs for this.
Any other interesting thing:
1>To jot down the points for speaking in a GD they don't provide you a sheet of paper. So carry it with you.
2>The panel are very very puntual. They started the process at dot 1:30. But still they are very very humble, it was raining all day in Delhi and so some aspirants came late, and they conducted a separate GD for them. How very kind of them.:D
3>The panel is very friendly. They don't want you to be stressed, they want the best to get out of you and they help you getting to it. So don't act in a fake manner. Say what you really think and feel about.
Finally THANKYOU all the seniors and fellow puys for your valuable feedback, suggestions and support.

I know i have 0.001% chance of converting at this very very low percentile. But it was a very nice experience over all.. And i would love to get into GIM.

Apologies for the really late post...a special apology to tatadocomo who had PM'ed me for the experience. ATB to the aspirants in the coming days :cheers:.
GD: Privatization in India has failed
No. of people: around 12
No. of panelists: 2
Every candidate had to make an introduction about the topic for 1 min, then it was an open house for approximately 10 minutes and then, a conclusion for 1 min by everyone. We had an essay on the same topic after the GD.
During my opening statement, I mentioned the FDI/FII inflow. Then mentioned the problem of privatization which is squashing of local markets/players. Also mentioned the level of corruption (scams) in the private sector and the lack of transparency.
Once the house was thrown open, it went smooth. I made the opening statement (for the first time ever in my life :o) and set the tone for the GD. I opened with the concept of globlization and the subsequent liberalization, and the opening of the Indian economic policy in the 90s. Made my entry 4-5 times...most of the group pounced on me when I mentioned corruption/scams 
. The discussion was very good as the group spoke discussed a variety of points.
My conclusion was quite haphazard but mentioned that one can't outright say that privatization in India has failed. This was earlier echoed by a female team member.
Essay: I was scribbling away. Ensured that I made an opening statement, gave pros then cons of privatization and then a conclusion. (One of the panelist mentioned that people could be rejected based on the essay, hence he asked us to take the essay seriously!!:wow:)
Personal Interview:
Since I was the 3rd person in the group, it took me approximately 25 minutes to get in (the previous candidates had PI for approx 10-15 min each).

P1: A gentleman in his 40s
P2: An elderly professor who hadn't spoken a word since the GD started (turned out to be otherwise during PI)
P1: Tell us about yourself please.
Me: ... :D...
Since I had loaded my file with lots of certificates, P1 seemed a tad impressed while scanning through it.
P1: Oh, such a low percentile in XAT (shit!!)
Me: Yes sir, I have to accept that I did not perform well in the Quantz section
P1: Oh, did you write cat? How did you perform in Quantz there?
Me: Sir it was the same case there. I managed only 53 percentile.
P1: Why what happened?
Me: Sir, I should have concentrated more in my math fundamentals at school
P1: But math is an important aspect of life and you will find it everywhere. Even as a manager you will face many situations involving math right? How will you manage an MBA program then?
Me: Yes sir, but I can assure you that the XAT instance is just a one-off case. And I am working on my math and with constant effort, am confident of managing it.
P1: Okay, tell us 3 important aspects of a manager
Me: Gave three points
P1: But the same applies to a leader na..he then gave an example
Me: (smiling) yes sir
P1: You mentioned motivating your team for good output (had mentioned that as a point)..how would you motivate them?
Me: A very roundabout answer about meeting them and explaining them how their efforts would pay. Mentioned that I would stay back and put more efforts if needed.
P1: Okay..but how exactyly would you motivate them?
Me: (Did not know what to say) 
P1: Okay the most important thing is finding out what they expect from the project/company...then he went on to explain (I was surprised, but listened closely)
Me: Yes sir...I had explained the same, but on very general terms (gave a sheepish grin)
P1: Yes yes. (to P2) Sir, would you like to ask something? (he proceeded to go out)
------things get more interesting here
P2: I noticed you during the GD and you spoke really well.
Me: 😲 :w00t::w00t:
P2: I don't have any questions as such...but I would like to ask you something since you are from Chennai (we then proceeded to talk about the political scenario in TN, and there was a lot of smiling and laughing. He did mention that this question would have no bearing on my selection, so he asked me to be honest)
P1 returns by now..and in a few minutes, snacks come in (mamma mia!!
)
P1: Would you like to have samosa or tea (my heart was leaping for it ;)....) It is okay Sir, thank you very much
P2: Are you sure? He is so intent on getting you to eat..
Me: (grining) It is okay sir, Thank you. I just had my lunch.
P2: All right, you have 3 years of work experience in TCS. Why not continue 2 years in the same line instead of spending so many lacs for MBA and then starting over with a new job?
Me: Mentioned about the industry exposure and the strong management foundation that I would receive during MBA...also mentioned that I had already planned for the expenditure by saving up on my salary (with little assistance from my father of course)...and both were impressed (especially P2)
P1: So which specialization are you interested in?
Me: (GIM does not offer operations..but stil..) Sir, I have preference for operations and marketing. Since GIM does not offer the former, I would go for the latter.
P1: Marketing is it? (he is a marketing professor at GIM). Okay, which domain are you interested in post-MBA?
Me: Sir, market reasearch...mentioned determining consumer demands/needs.....
P1: But market research as such has not yet picked up in India
Me: Yes sir. But take the example of Vodafone, Airtel etc...they have a large consumer base and are expanding rapidly. But to expand even further and for more profits, they need to know what exactly their consumer need from them..and this is where I believe market/consumer research comes in.
P2: Okay give us an honest answer. Did you join any coaching institute for speaking?
Me: Sir absolutely not. I did join a coaching institute, but that was just for the exam preparation.
P1: Why not?
Me: Sir, as I mentioned earlier (tell us about yourself) I have been reading English books for a long time now. That has added to my confidence...and generally, I am confident about my communication skills.
P2: But joining classes (gdpi training classes i.e) for the same is not bad. Because they finetune you..
P1: (nodded in agreement)
Me: Could only smile and nod in agreement.
----By now...I felt they were done with the questions :o
(both looked satisfied and their reaction gave me the feeling the interview was over)
P1: So what other calls do you have?
Me: Grinning 
P2: Don't worry, your answer will have no bearing on the interview or the selection process
(I had started loving this Sir even more, he is too charming :D:D)
Me: Sir xyz, GIM and hgk.
P1: Oh hgk huh, good good. So between GIM and hgk, which one would you choose? (hgk != IIM FYI)
Me: (Grinning so hard my teeth would have crumbled)
P2: Come on, don't worry, be honest, there won't be any problem.
Me: Sir, I have equal preference for GIM. But in the case I need to choose, hgk will have a slightly higher preference.
P1: Very good. You must always have choices. You should not be emotional, be emotional, but only in relations. All the best for hgk.
P1: Do you have any questions for us?
Me: (in my eagerness) Sir, the new campus is being shifted...
P2: (interrupts with a smile) new campus??
Me: 
Sorry sir, the campus is being shifted to a new area. How faraway is..
P1: Don't worry, it is quite far. And it will be really tough for you to visit the beaches frequently
P2 laughs and I grinned :biggrin:.
P1: It is always good to ask questions...keep asking them.
(a momentary pause)
P2: Well that would be it gentleman. You did really very well. All the very best.
P1: You did well, thank you.
Me: stunned 
..shook their hands and gracefully made my exit.
There was no document verification. P1 did check for the GIM PI call letter.
My interview lasted approximately 20-25 minutes. It was a really wonderful experience. Whether I convert the call or not, the experience will always stay on my mind, especially the really cool panelists. Thank you Sirs.

*Essay writing was not really for testing knowledge quotient, but it ws nly to test the language proficiency.

I told him abt my Quant marks n percentiles of other xams CAT, IIFT n all... they wer way bettr than a hopeless 5. %le!
I was askd abt my further saty in goa....but i told them i had to return back for my final yr project work....n also that i have placements on in my college n i had to miss out on 1 f d companies due to todays appointment with GIM..
So, last question ws just to kno y i dont want to take a break (takin up a job) & continu wid PG?
Was good overall.....except for d diagnosis of my XAT score n d GDP of US...

Gd topic:Honesty is not good for a person,straight trees get cut.
Opening started with 1 minute of intro.Then the open house started.With such generalistic topic ,people leaped on arguing with points ranging from wikileaks,ramayana,mahabharata and all sort of stuff.
I Entered the gd three times excluding the opening part.Gave the idea about euthanasia killing, mickey and rocky balboa 's mentorship role and the fight betwwen clubber lang,wikileaks and produced some counter arguments who said honesty is only the best policy.
In gist my point was the circumstances,physchological factors should be taken into account and then a prudent decision shud be made and adapt according to the situation demands.(Neutral logic
).Now the essay part started.Gave us 10 mins,unfortunately i did'nt finish but gave ample new points ranging from tata-corus market condition after recession,and indo pak war during indira gandhi's regime.

M-told about the default rates and the farmer suicide and the govt putting all the blame on the MFI.

M-Generally it is thought that Mfi is risky but itz not.They are less risky.Gave ex of grameen bank .

I have seen this in other posts and experienced it too that out of two pairs of panelists who were taking interview in Mum. One is behaving rudely wid interviewees and other pair is more of demoralising them...
(mebbe, Raghu's effect )
So, caution for people who have YMCA mumbai as center... b mentally prepared for this kinda experience

GD Topic: 'Privatisation has not worked in India'
GD was not at all a fish market..in fact there were lulls and awkward pauses in between 😛 made only 3-4 entries...but could write well in the essay..
PI: Just writing the questions (my answers were too embarssing :)
(a friendly panel, two male faculty)
- yeah..gud afternoon come in..so which part of the country do you belong to?
- whats your xat score? - I thot they asked 'what is your EXACT score' 😁 😛 and asked ..sir what score? haha
(they wrote it down in some sheet) and they grilled me on my low quant score.
- was 74 a good result in your graduation ? What all did you study in biotechnolgy? what is cloning, DNA etc etc ?
- Do you have any other call? if you covert both which one will you join ?
- When I answered that i would prefer GIM, as my incilnation is towards Brand Management , PR and all I had to face many case type and situation based questions on Marketing. And was asked the meaning of terms like brand equity, demand price relationship etc..
- And then he asked
' If I kill you, kill you with a rod, and take the rod with me... can I be caught ? '
AND I - a CID fan - who has been watching CID for the last 13 years, answered - " NO SIR, without fingerprints from the rod, u cant be sure"
Damn ! ACP Pradyumann ka naam kharab kar diya maine 😞 kam se kam joote ke nishaan dhudhne ko keh deti !! anyways other questions that came up were -
- Is being Ethican Important to you?
- Will you cheat in an exam ? If no.. why ?
- What does a short cut mean yo you?
- Are you capable of doing hard work ?
- What is your opinion about Goa as a city?
- What do you read? (i said fiction)Narrate a story then..
- Show me your CAT score card (coz i said my quant score in cat ws gud)
- What are your expectations from the budget?
This was the last question. Not too hopeful... made many mistakes in the PI : Bhagwan Bharose ab..

I have seen this in other posts and experienced it too that out of two pairs of panelists who were taking interview in Mum. One is behaving rudely wid interviewees and other pair is more of demoralising them...

So, caution for people who have YMCA mumbai as center... b mentally prepared for this kinda experience
yeah I know .Don't worry,they are stressing you out.So best thing will be don't get freaked out and reply calmly even if you are saying wrong answers .Just give a smile(not the broad grin
) whenever they ask you some sarcastic question or so .

Me - Hv written a many, but currently dont remember much xactly, moreover the english ones are not that technical or heavy stuff... hv written some gud ones, technical n heavy in PUNJABI and HINDI though...

Me - told him - With Accenture into Testing Domain... Was involved in UAT for a Telecom Client, and some more details... something realted to business scenarios...
p1 - so y MBA after dat...
Me - Told... also mentioned the diverse work ex I had and how I was fascinated by businesses around...

Me - some more discussion... told more about the diverse work ex and all stuff...also mentioned a couple of awards I was awarded at Accy...
p1 - Do u have those awards..something more on working with Accenture... who wrote the test cases...
Me - I wrote, our team used to do it in planning phase...etc etc etc... about awards - not rite now:shocked:, but they can be validated online nytime...:)
p2 - where else hv u applied...

me - because it runs at every platform... i mean m completely out of touch... but smthing of the virtual memory stuff...
p1- u hv done ur 6 months training in Java and even then u ????
me - Sir, its 6 weeks, and it was way back in 2005(later remembered dat it was in 2006)... and yes I had interest in many a things when in college like C++, Java, Data comm.... but complete off track these stuff in last 2.5-3 yrs...
p2- pointing to p1 saying kind of leave it... i think...
p1 - ok I'll ask u smthing on testing... if u hv a Code, how many test cases cud u usually rite on that...
me - first of all sir, i was into testin the business scenarios and functionality... and m very far away from coding since long... so acutally i havent written ny of such things... but i think it cud be like (said smthing wrong...)
p1 - leave it, u dont know it, i was expecting something technical...

Yest one of ma frenz appeared for GDPI, and he was bombarded with acads + his silly answers at times(he was not really into GIM...), i was like - m gone... and tried to get thru some concepts... was a lil worried on it... and I dint get much acads... be urself - cool down and hv a chill pill... interact with others - talk urself out... discuss things... ur gonna be doing better... at the end of the day its all about knowing urself - if u know even half of urself n can prtray in a proper way - u'll be thru ...
