Still i will suggest not tondrop out from your JOB.
1) First of all decide whether u wana do MBA or CFA ?? I mean while doing your MBA also you can appear for CFA, FRM etc and that will add more value. Concentrate on one thing, DO your MBA first then CFA while doing your MBA. If you are not sure that you can do MBA then drop it and do CFA.
2) In your placements only in the initial screening CFA etc may help. But a company comes to a college not because its students are CFA but because of the REPO of that college?
3) Also in the placement interviews they test your knowledge , even if you are CFA level 2 and does not know what they have asked then you will not be selected for sure.
and same is the case while appearing for an interview for any company whether you are an MBA or not.
4) If you wana switch to IB , even in that case a break in the career will appear as a dent in your career, as one of the person here pointed put that
you can do it while workign too so again it might be neagtive for you and you will loose more and gain less.
Rest it's your life . you are teh best judge you decide.

I want to switch from IT to IB industry and I am finding it very difficult to concentrate on my certifications study(CFA L1) as they keep me busy wid the same kind of wrk wat 2-3 years wrk ex guys are doing.
So, not adding much value in job.
So, thinking of sitting at home and study for finance related certifications and meanwhile study for CAT properly. In that case I shall be able to justify the break in interviews I guess.
PS: I already have 5+ wrk ex in IT.
Want genuine comments on this as I am still weighing the options.

I had a few questions in my mind, to which I couldnt find any answers:
1. The new IIMs conducted a centralized process, then couldnt they have given us a preference form at the time of GD-PI asking us for preferences from 1 to 6 so that there would be no overlap in the coverts. If some1 got a lower priority convert he would be in the waitlist for the higher priority college. In this way atleast someone with a higher priority covert would not get a lower priority convert. Something like MDI follows for its three courses.
2. Why are some of the older IIM ppl overlapping, they should not have been given converts when it is obvious they wont join.
3. Why there are no waitlist numbers??? R we supposed to be guessing till the session starts. Dont we have to withdraw fees from other colleges if we convert???
PS: No intention to spam but I have posted the same on all 6 threads bcoz I want all of u to read it 😃
Not a single person who were in the morning list of IIM-U have got mails (i am one of them). Even i have the screenshot saved. In fact my name was within the first few in the list.
I was planning to resign today. Thank God I did not do so!!!! What the hell is going on?!
I haven't seen a single case when the name featured in the morning list and they got the final mail as well .... (sry if I am unaware of any such cases).
But if this is the case, can we do something ? At least let IIMU know what they have done to us ..

Not only in the text file did i see my name featured at the top but also thru the link they had posted on their site. I was quite elated to say the least(an IIM convert it was).
IIM-U needs to take care of these things. It seems u dnt stay far from IIM-U. Can u suggest anythng abt what can be done to let IIM-U knw abt our plight?
Brother ... I am currently outside India for work ... saw my result in the morning and planned to many things .... But was shattered within hours ....
I am very sure some IIMU seniors are here on PG. Can we get some favor from them ??
Seniors u there ?? I know results can not be changed but I would expect the institute to understand that its now a joke for us. We wait for 1 long year before getting another chance and on the final day they do something like this (let it be some technical glitch or experiments whatever). If that was an experiment, why was it made publicly accessible ??

I mean the new IIMs are relatively on the same platform wid very little to differentiate them. Wouldnt it then be unfair on the aspirants to ask them to decide earlier itself? Ppl even after converting arent sure where to go, so espectin them to do the same at the time of GD is kinda difficult.
Also wat if sm1 has a change of mind later on? Is it fair that the guy missed on a college just bcs he screwed up his preference list? Also everyone would like to have more than one option in hand, so overlaps are more a demand than nething else.

Preferential selection/prioritization of new IIMs is nothing but perception based judgments...I mean how do you differentiate??? Just on the basis of hearsay i guess!!!
For the second point I'd say that there are always black swans, hence the overlaps...
For the third one, waitlisted candidates are being notified by mail(read a post on IIM Ranchi converts thread on being waitlisted 1)....

i dont agree with your second point..
how do you know that every one will prefer older iims over new ones..
hypothetically.. a poor guy in ranchi suffering from some medical condition, or parents suffering from some medical conditions and the treatment is going on in ranchi might like to stay in ranchi than go to A or B.
your point is correct for most but not all... the aspirant should be given a choice... even if its obvious what his decision will be..
and if your point is correct.. than all 2nd league colleges should follow the same process..
