Can I expect to be placed in other organizations apart from IT companies, because it is a notion that people from IT mostly have to return to IT after MBA. And if that is true how much do the IT companies offer and for which profile? Please give me some insight regarding this.

Well, m no senior but I can share my 2 cents with you.
The notion that 'people from IT mostly have to return to IT after MBA.' is not at all true. In fact a good number of people do an MBA for a 'career shift/profile change'.
You can return to IT if you are willing but you don't have to.

Excellent GE.
Excellent PI. (with the colonel) it went for 25 mins
And I am not even waitlisted. Simple rejected.
I called the Admissions deptt., they said they dont recheck.
Please help, I am just asking for a recheck and probably scores.

I thoroughly understand your concern as it crops up every year from aspirants. First of all, YOU DONT HAVE TO go back to IT if you dont want to. We have companies from all possible sectors coming on campus. Every student is as eligible as the next in this scenario. It is purely upon merit and "organisational fit" according to which the companies pick up students who applied.
IT companies offer pretty decent amount ranging from 10+ going upto X depending on your years of experience. Each year of RELATIVE exp is given 50k-75k extra.
Profiles can be domain specialists to consulting depending upon the needs of the organisation and what profiles they bring on campus.
My advice to you is, if you want to join SIBM Pune then its great... dont worry about placements so much.... we get the best of companies and we get placed amongst the best with lovely profiles. Having gone through the process recently, I can tell you that everything will be taken care of once you come on campus.

I have been waitlisted at 18 under SC Category, can anyone provide me with the data as to how many waitlisted candidates under SC Category were given calls in previous years and should I be optimistic or start looking at other options since I have very few options and SIBM is the only good college that I've managed to get a call from. Rest are decent b-schools but not in top 20.
Plus, Since I inevitably have to take a loan for the entire course fees and other charges, I would like to get an estimate of total expenditure that I should be readily prepared for, the fee structure mentioned in the letter is only for 1st year, what would be the charge for 2nd year ? Would it be the same or would it increase ? Besides the fees aspect, I need to know the lumpsum amount in living expenditure for other things taking into account cost of living in Pune, and a simple lifestyle, no over-indulgence. Like how much monthly expenditure is incurred by seniors ? I will have to arrange the money beforehand, so that's why i need to know.
Plus, for Finance Profile, as a Fresher with BBA-84.8%,10th-84.6%,12th-78.6%, What kind of avg pay package can i expect in Banking and Investment fields considering that I do ok in my Acads and Interviews and not very exceptional.
And one more thing, can someone elaborate about campus life, like at what does the day's schedule resume and what all normally happens through the day and till when does the final day's task end ? About Profs at college, about medium of entertainment, city life, study schedule, enjoyment during off-days, fitness and workout at gym, food(whether home cooked type food or the type that you would call only for survival food) hostel life, indoor and outdoor gaming places, In short, everything that one would find interesting and is needed to be known before coming to SIBM.

Sorry for the delay in replying mrinal. Actual the size of your query made me procrastinate a bit longer than I general do. Apologies!!
1) Since am not the that category, I do not have much idea as to the waitlist number each year. But I can assure you that with #18, your chances of conversion are really very good. Maybe sometime end april latest.
2) I believe the fees for your batch will be around 10.1 lacs. Atleast that was the fees for batch 2011-2013. In any case, you can drop in a mail to the registrar at [email protected] requesting a fee structure for the entire programme. Am sure he will oblidge in the earliest.
As for the extra expenditure goes, I you cut out all kinds of over-indulgence and stick to your basic routine with minimal outside comforts then I believe 2500 per month SHOULD/WOULD suffice.
Expenditure differs from person to person based on comforts, eating experiences and petrol costs. So if all of that is negated then I believe the aforementioned amount should be enough.
3) Your profile is absolutely fine. Now it depends on the co. which hires you for your finals. All the IBs offer upto 18-19 lpa which is in the top range. But avg. should be around the 10-11 mark irrespective whether you are a fresher or not. Very few ppl have RELATIVE work ex in the fin. domain.
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY, LIFE AT SIBM Pune. Here I go:
Let me take you through a normal day in a student's life.
Wake up at 6/7/8/8:45/8:55 (as long as you reach class by 9:00 am). Sometimes classes are scheduled from 8 am so that is pure bad luck and lesser slumber hours. Each lecture is of 75 min. Lunch break at 1:00 pm. Reconvene at 2:15pm and stretch till 6:30pm. Then after college is over ppl generally come near the mess area for evening snacks etc. Then the extra-curriculars start. We have cricket,football,volleyball,basketball,squash,badminton,swimming,fully equipped gymnasium,table tennis, pool,carrom and fooseball tables as well. Hanging out with friends, chit chatting, mingling with SIMC
and the likes ensue. Dinner is served from 7:30pm to 10:00pm (not after that). Study sessions start from 11/12 and continue till ppl lose their enthu for the same. Then its a goodnight for everyone till they wake up again for another day. It is ideal if you can do with 2-3 hours of sleep so that you finish all your work in time but alas!! PPL NEED TO SLEEP MORE.About Profs at college :- Profs are good. Some are GREAT. Depends on the subject and the specialization. But they are known to screw our happiness from time to time due to work load etc. But that is the case with atleast 500 other b-schools in the country so lets not get into that so much.
About medium of entertainment :- WE HAVE ALL KINDS 😉 ..... Plus we have movie screenings in our auditorium each week so thats fun too. Best part is mingling with other college folks (if you get my drift). LAPTOP is HUMAN BEING'S greatest gift to a b-school student. Without it we are as good as dead. So make sure you load up on movies and series' when you come here.
City life - Pune is an exciting metropolis. Everything is within reach (if you have conveyance). Best places to party, eat out and hang around.
Study schedule - That depends on each individual. The lesser you sleep the more you are able to execute your work efficiently. Else your work starts piling up and thats when you get into trouble.
Enjoyment during off-days - SLEEP ...... what else do you want?????? plus hanging out in the city with friends is always there. If you have a car or a bike then you can visit places around pune like lonavala,lavassa and a few beaches. Those are pretty cool places to go to. If you have more thaan 3 days off (very unlikely) then GO GOA!!!
Food - Statutory Warning : Forget about your mother's cooking when you come here. YOU WILL NOT GET THAT or anything even remotely close. Having said that... the mess food is atleast 100 times better than any other mess that you might have heard of in the country. At first you will REALLY LIKE it but then the monotonous nature of the menu will start getting under your skin. Thats when the restaurants of pune benefit from our money....
Hostel Life : BOYS' HOSTEL - ALWAYS PARTY... no matter if there is an exam the next day (though we find time to study and submit assignments too.... GREAT TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS ARE IMPARTED) .... GIRLS' HOSTEL - NO IDEA but i'd guess its pretty boring when compared to ours...
Anyways that was all from my side. I would request whoever joins this institution in its next batch to keep that LIFE @ SIBM Pune thread alive so that subsequent batches don't face the same problem.

the pre-induction program, i believe, starts in April. Does that mean people who are now waitlisted won't undergo that program? Also..will we still be charged for it?

the pre-induction programme does start from 1st april....
however folks who convert their call on a later date will miss out on the initial phase of the programme but will have to join later
remember that this programme is a 2 month long endeavour and students will join it as soon as they convert...
so yes everyone will have to pay the slated fees since the material will be provided to all and so will the services...

i had a situation similar to yours even though score is only 97
gd was nice. i made the best points.
pi was great. i got a good vibe.
but when the results came, BANG. straight reject.
more than the reject, what frustrates me is that my read of the situation was completely wrong. i dont know where i went wrong or what they are looking for.
and that leaves me in a tough spot because i dont know what i should do right to improve my next interview..
sigh.all we can do is be philosophical about it. ( but please not the 'something better is waiting for you' line. GOD I want to punch everyone who says that in the face
