Private "Deemed Universities" gift away 80 to 90 marks. Agreed. But all private engineering colleges otherwise fall under Universities. And you don't exactly get to score 80s and 90s in the exams. Around 70s is what students in private colleges affiliated to universities also get.

Sorry for the delay in replying mrinal. Actual the size of your query made me procrastinate a bit longer than I general do. Apologies!!
1) Since am not the that category, I do not have much idea as to the waitlist number each year. But I can assure you that with #18, your chances of conversion are really very good. Maybe sometime end april latest.
2) I believe the fees for your batch will be around 10.1 lacs. Atleast that was the fees for batch 2011-2013. In any case, you can drop in a mail to the registrar at [email protected] requesting a fee structure for the entire programme. Am sure he will oblidge in the earliest.
As for the extra expenditure goes, I you cut out all kinds of over-indulgence and stick to your basic routine with minimal outside comforts then I believe 2500 per month SHOULD/WOULD suffice.
Expenditure differs from person to person based on comforts, eating experiences and petrol costs. So if all of that is negated then I believe the aforementioned amount should be enough.
3) Your profile is absolutely fine. Now it depends on the co. which hires you for your finals. All the IBs offer upto 18-19 lpa which is in the top range. But avg. should be around the 10-11 mark irrespective whether you are a fresher or not. Very few ppl have RELATIVE work ex in the fin. domain.
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY, LIFE AT SIBM Pune. Here I go:
Let me take you through a normal day in a student's life.
Wake up at 6/7/8/8:45/8:55 (as long as you reach class by 9:00 am). Sometimes classes are scheduled from 8 am so that is pure bad luck and lesser slumber hours. Each lecture is of 75 min. Lunch break at 1:00 pm. Reconvene at 2:15pm and stretch till 6:30pm. Then after college is over ppl generally come near the mess area for evening snacks etc. Then the extra-curriculars start. We have cricket,football,volleyball,basketball,squash,badminton,swimming,fully equipped gymnasium,table tennis, pool,carrom and fooseball tables as well. Hanging out with friends, chit chatting, mingling with SIMCand the likes ensue. Dinner is served from 7:30pm to 10:00pm (not after that). Study sessions start from 11/12 and continue till ppl lose their enthu for the same. Then its a goodnight for everyone till they wake up again for another day. It is ideal if you can do with 2-3 hours of sleep so that you finish all your work in time but alas!! PPL NEED TO SLEEP MORE.
About Profs at college :- Profs are good. Some are GREAT. Depends on the subject and the specialization. But they are known to screw our happiness from time to time due to work load etc. But that is the case with atleast 500 other b-schools in the country so lets not get into that so much.
About medium of entertainment :- WE HAVE ALL KINDS 😉 ..... Plus we have movie screenings in our auditorium each week so thats fun too. Best part is mingling with other college folks (if you get my drift). LAPTOP is HUMAN BEING'S greatest gift to a b-school student. Without it we are as good as dead. So make sure you load up on movies and series' when you come here.
City life - Pune is an exciting metropolis. Everything is within reach (if you have conveyance). Best places to party, eat out and hang around.
Study schedule - That depends on each individual. The lesser you sleep the more you are able to execute your work efficiently. Else your work starts piling up and thats when you get into trouble.
Enjoyment during off-days - SLEEP ...... what else do you want?????? plus hanging out in the city with friends is always there. If you have a car or a bike then you can visit places around pune like lonavala,lavassa and a few beaches. Those are pretty cool places to go to. If you have more thaan 3 days off (very unlikely) then GO GOA!!!
Food - Statutory Warning : Forget about your mother's cooking when you come here. YOU WILL NOT GET THAT or anything even remotely close. Having said that... the mess food is atleast 100 times better than any other mess that you might have heard of in the country. At first you will REALLY LIKE it but then the monotonous nature of the menu will start getting under your skin. Thats when the restaurants of pune benefit from our money....
Hostel Life : BOYS' HOSTEL - ALWAYS PARTY... no matter if there is an exam the next day (though we find time to study and submit assignments too.... GREAT TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS ARE IMPARTED) .... GIRLS' HOSTEL - NO IDEA but i'd guess its pretty boring when compared to ours...
Anyways that was all from my side. I would request whoever joins this institution in its next batch to keep that LIFE @ SIBM Pune thread alive so that subsequent batches don't face the same problem.

Shourya, you could not have explained the our daily life better than this...I would just like to add few things such as we as students actively take part in lot of B-school competitions and you will always find some of us in different B-schools participating and winning competitions. We also have lot of activities inside the campus organized by different Executive Students' Council which always keeps the campus happening and rocking.
We have got a huge common room and for Football fanatics like us it is a blessings and saturdays and sundays evenings are reserved for football and football only. Watching matches with supporters of different clubs is an experience in itself
And yes, boys hostel rocks. People from all over India and yes some NRI's too add to the multidimensional and multifaceted environment of the hostel and its not uncommon to hear songs of different languages blaring out of rooms 😃

I thoroughly understand your concern as it crops up every year from aspirants. First of all, YOU DONT HAVE TO go back to IT if you dont want to. We have companies from all possible sectors coming on campus. Every student is as eligible as the next in this scenario. It is purely upon merit and "organisational fit" according to which the companies pick up students who applied.
IT companies offer pretty decent amount ranging from 10+ going upto X depending on your years of experience. Each year of RELATIVE exp is given 50k-75k extra.
Profiles can be domain specialists to consulting depending upon the needs of the organisation and what profiles they bring on campus.
My advice to you is, if you want to join SIBM Pune then its great... dont worry about placements so much.... we get the best of companies and we get placed amongst the best with lovely profiles. Having gone through the process recently, I can tell you that everything will be taken care of once you come on campus.

Not at all. Every university has it's different criteria and marking system. I did my grads from a deemed university *read SIU* and the toppers get 75+ but never above 80 and this is just a tiny fraction.
