[2012] Ask ISB Hyderabad/Mohali: Admissions Director AM Kannan answers admission-related questions

Dear Sir,

When reporting the GMAT Score on the Application, where I need to mention the date I requested PearsonVUE to report an official score to ISB, should I mention
(i) the date on which I appeared for the GMAT (ISB-PGP is one of the 5 programs I selected that would receive my test score), or
(ii) the date I received a mail from PeasonVUE stating that my Score Report Request has been fulfilled, or
(iii) the date on which I received an acknowledgement from pgpadmissions?

Thanks and Regards.

Dear Sir,Have interviews begun for Indian applicants from Mumbai? I had applied in the first round to ISB this year. And the admission website states Nov 15th as the final offer date. Does this mean all interviews for first round will happen before that date?
Yes, interviews for Mumbai candidates are going on. The date you have indicated is the correct date by which 1st round interviews shall be completed.

Dear SirI have only 1 yr 3 months work ex - i had to resign due to personal reasons.I have experience in the supply chain department in a leading apparel brand. It is my dream to get into ISB. Will my application be rejected for sure or can i give it a try? Thanks for your time Sir.Regards
Your application shall be given full consideration. In case you are deemed a very strong candidate and selected, you may be offered deferred admission into a future class when you would have the reqd min years of workex.

Dear Sir,I have a GMAT score of 680. Will have a 2 yrs of work exp by march-2013, out of which 16months will be an NGO exp in Tokyo. This exp has given me a lot of exposure; in nutshell, i believe it is shud be a strong point. Plz advise if the low gmatscore and less exp can be offsetted by the quality of exp?Thanking you in advanc,Vineela
680 is definitely not a low GMAT score. As you have rightly noted, you should focus on highlighting other aspects of your application too such as those you have noted. A high GMAT does not compensate for lack of self awareness, leadership potential and other qualitative personal attributes that are important for us. Please ensure that you clearly communicate your takeaways from your personal & professional experiences.

If you requested as part of your GMAT registration then as per (i), use the date you took GMAT. Else, if you requested separately, then the date you sent your request to PearsonVUE.

Yes AWA scores are assessed. IR is not going to be used in the admissions process this year.
Dear ISB Team,
Does the status change from complete in the application portal for those who are not invited? And if yes, by when does an applicant get to know the final status?

Thanks in advance,

Sir
1. I am uploading my salary slip for October 2012.
However for calculating gross salary per annum and CTC per annum, I am using last financial year's Form 16 (IT)? Is it fine?

2. My company doesn't issue CTC statement, how to justify the CTC figure later on?

3. Is parents' income proof required if one doesn't wish to apply for scholarship?

@ISB.Admissions

Sir,

In reference to essay 1, can you please give some example of what could be considered a personal achievement.

Dear Kannan Sir,

I am struggling with finding the 'name of the institution' in the education section of the applications portal? Only options is see are 'select institute' & 'main campus'. I have tried using ie7 & ie8 and also tried enabling java scripts, deleting history etc.

I have also contacted the ******* and followed their similar suggestions.

Kindly suggest if i need to try out any other thing.

Thanks.
Pratik

My application number on the portal recently changed from 141xxx to 9xxx, is this normal?

Form 16 is acceptable. Please upload your salary slip. You do not have to worry about the overall CTC figure at this time if it is not indicated by your company.
Parents income proof is not reqd if you are not applying for need based scholarship.
