[2012] Ask ISB Hyderabad/Mohali: Admissions Director AM Kannan answers admission-related questions

@nrpg said:
Dear Kannan,I worked as an intern in my current company, for the last six months of my Post Graduation. can I include this internship period in the overall Work Experience? If I do so, it would create a clash between my education and work experience period, is that okay?
You full time workex is counted after award/completion of your degree. Internships are not counted if they are part of the program. However, please do mention your internship as it provides us with information on your profile.
@ISB.Admissions thanks a lot for the reply!!

Dear Sir, Have all the interview invites for NRIs been sent out?

dear sir,

I am a round one applicant with a gmat score of 680. I have 5.5 years of experience in a public sector engineering company in the energy sector. I have good extra curricular achievements and decent acads. I had written good essays and was very positive of getting an interview invite.I have a mix profile of engineering and operations I think that I didn't get a call for the interview due to low gmat score. just wanted to ask if I take the gmat again, can I update my score to be considered for round two applications?

Dear Sir,

I recieved interview call last year. This year I had change in responsibilities & even promotion in professional side and even worked on feedback. I was very hopefull about the call (delhi ) .

Is there any possibility that my application is still not fully analysed.
Also, do applicant login also include status regarding interview call.

With Thanks

@ISB.Admissions Hello Sir, Thanks for replying to my question. How many offers does ISB generally gives in the R1? I understand from previous threads that there is no fixed pattern and it all depends upon the quality of applicant but just wanted to know in percentage terms as to how many applicants are given offers. Thanks
@ISB.Admissions
@ISB.AdmissionsHello Sir,
Is there any possibility that R1 candidates get an invitation for interview with R2 applicants or the process for R1 applicants gets over on 15th Nov

@ISB.Admissions

Dear sir,

I have 2.7 years of work experience.I worked in the technical department of an HR company.However,I quit the job in July this year and I am currently doing MBA in HR.My query regarding the application for ISB is that whether I can choose evaluators from my previous organisation.Also,in my application,should I mention this MBA in the educational details as I am just in the first semester of the course.

Thanks

Tanu

@NMIMS i scored 188 in nmat.... are there any chances of admission in your institute ?

Dear Sir

I had applied for YLP last year. I was rejected after the Interview Stage. At present I have a work experience of 6 months (by Dec 1st week) and will be having a work exp. of 10 moths by the time I join. So I would like to enquire whether I will need to wait for another year and a half or am I eligible to apply to the regular PGP as your website says that under exceptional cases people with less than 2 years work exp are given deferred admission.
Thanks

actually i posted about nmims in wrong forum but thanx for d info

After graduation I am working in a PSU since Aug 2009. After induction training for 2 months (which is counted as full time work experience and full salary applicable was paid) my current designation and function was given to me in Oct 2009. Do I need to mention it separately ?

I am asking this because it is not possible to mention any achievements, responsibilities for that period. Further CTC and gross salary doesn't make sense for 2 months....

Please clarify.

Applications are considered in a holistic way. A high GMAT score by itself cannot determine an interview selection. You may want to read up regarding what attributes can help make an application strong. Please feel free to call our PGP Admissions office to discuss in person.

We understand your disappointment. The shortlisting decision is highly dependent on the rest of the application pool each year. We study each application in depth. Each applicant spends considerable time and effort in putting their best foot forward and we value each person's candidature. However, in the interest of being fair to all candidates, including those who did make strong applications this year, there is no way around shortlisting only those who have the highest likelihood of making it to the Class of 2014 in the coming year.
Application status in the portal will change after 15 Nov. Please feel free to call us after 30th Nov to discuss what else could have made a difference to your application.

Yes, you can use evaluators from your previous employer. Please note your MBA in your educational details, it does not count against you in any way. Although, you should be prepared to answer in your third essay & at our interview why you are seeking another MBA at ISB.

You may apply now if you feel you can make a really strong application. We do have a deferral option for the PGP at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

There is no need to mention the induction training separately given its duration and the facts you have mentioned above. Your induction training shall be counted as full time workex.
