[2012] Ask ISB Hyderabad/Mohali: Admissions Director AM Kannan answers admission-related questions

Dear Sir
Do we need to submit proofs for achievements mentioned in the essays and job responsibilities/ achievements section?

@ISB.Admissions

I had a question about the video essay. Is it necessary to introduce yourself at the beginning the video ? would it be a negative if I didn't do that ?

Thanks

No, we believe you. In any case we are more interested in your views on why you consider these as achievements and what have your takeaways been. This may also be asked at your interview.

Not necessary and not a negative in any way as we know that your video is from your application file.

@ISB.Admissions Hi. Just wanted to ask if all the successful candidates have been informed or are there still some offers yet to go out? Thanks

I had a question. How much your previous designation matter when you join ISB, for someone from IT background and who wishes to go into same industry

Dear Sir, kindly suggest way ahead now that i have been wait-listed in R1 results, is there anything i can do further to better my chances of selection or is there any wait-list number given to the candidates...? Kindly advise.

Designation is unimportant. What matters is the quality of your takeaways, learnings from your workex and your focus & understanding about what you want to do in the future.

You have done your job and the waitlisting reflects that you have a strong profile. You would have to wait until you hear from us.

Hello Sir,

I have been denied admission after the interview in R1. By when can I get the feedback on what went wrong and what can I improve upon.

Thanks.

Hey,

I got admission into the ISB class of '14. Am currently assessing whether to accept the offer or not. My concern are the placements and international placements for career switchers with 3 years of work experience. Are there any stats for younger students on
1. How many aspired to be vs got an offer from a mgmt consulting firm
2. What the median salary range for students

Please stay tuned for feedback after we have completed our R2 selection. In the meantime, you may want to read up on information provided on this site and at this link to gauge what was expected at the interview: http://blogs.isb.edu/admissionsdirector/

Selection by employers who come to ISB is typically based on the suitability of the candidate from a skill, attitude/desire to contribute, culture/values and knowledge perspective. Number of years of workex does not guarantee placement or a specific compensation. Consulting companies will pay as per their standard HR practices and as per the role you are selected into. No company will discriminate against anyone who is otherwise suitable but lacks number of years of wkex. Typically students with fewer years of wkex have a wider range of options due to their perceived ability to adapt to a wider range of work situations. However, this may differ by individual and it is upto the candidate to convince employers that they are the best candidate for the role.
You may want to review our placement report and also review some of our recent webinars to understand the careers & placements process at ISB.
I encourage you to look at the lifelong learning you will obtain as the primary criteria for choosing your MBA program. Feel free to call our admissions office to discuss any other specifics we can clarify.

@ISB.Admissions I completely agree with your reply and its not something I will base my decision on. My concern will help me with my expectation management in the future. I have gone through the placement report and detail however, it does not segregate median income or number of international placements by work experience. Just like stats in the placement report, this would be a helpful stat to have if anyone at ISB could provide one.

Mr. Kannan

Is it possible for you to shell out the no. of offers and waitlists given by ISB in R1??

We do not track all forms of stats as this can become unmanageable while still not answering every possible variation of questions πŸ˜ƒ However, you can follow our facebook and other communication for upcoming career webinars, where you can pose this question. Otherwise, once in the program you will have ample opportunity to meet with Career Advancement Services team to frame and discuss these questions as they pertain to your specific need.
