Hi,
My questions is regarding recommendations.
1. Is it necessary to get a recommendation from my current boss as one of the choices or is it okay to choose someone in the same designation I have worked closely with from my team. I am asking as this may make my position uncomfortable at my job if not taken positively.
2. With regards to the second recommendation, is it okay to choose a client I have worked for? Is it also okay if I choose someone from a team that compliments our work on common assignments?
Best,
ENDisBEER

@anujag said:Hi,I am currently working in an indian IT firm. I am in the Network Management team for our client and its a technical job. I have been in this role for about 2 years now with no prior experience. My question is will this job profile hurt my chances of admission in ISB compared to someone working in a finance/marketing kind of role? Is there any preference given to specific sectors or job profiles?
@ISB.Admissions said:For YLP Stage 2 applicants, the GMAT can be taken until 07 Aug (the Stage 2 deadline). Please plan to take it in advance rather than leave it to the last day Feel free to call our team of counsellors if you have any questions.

hello sir,
I am a marine engineer. I have been in this industry for around 8 years.I would like to do an MBA from ISB. as taking an MBA was always a dream for me.Also i want to switch over from my current profession as well. Do i have any chances to get in to your institute in the first place, can i be able to switch over to other profession. I am 32 years old now.
i have some other queries also.
1.My sailing period is for 4- 6 mts. so do you consider my leave also as my experience. i have sailed for more than 36 mts together.
2. i havesailed in many companies, do i have to get letters from all the companies to apply for the MBA program. i have stampings in my CDC as proof of my sailing.
3.when should i start applying for the program if i intend to do my MBA in 2014.
your earliest response will be highly appreciated.
thanks and regards

@ranjitparekh said:I'm requesting you to clarify this point because according to the GMAT website, it can take up to 20 days to report the score. Therefore, if the application deadline is August 07, I would have expected the last date for taking the GMAT to be sometime around the beginning of July. However, you are saying that the last date for taking the GMAT is August 07.I just want to make sure there is no confusion. Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

Hi,
Dear Sir -- Today, all the leading business schools across the world are accepting GRE scores as as a substitute for GMAT scores (c.f. GRE Revised General Test: MBA Programs that Accept the GRE). This list includes Harvard, Stanford, INSEAD and every other top-ranked MBA program in the world. However, I notice that ISB is not on this list. Does this mean that you are not willing to consider candidates based on GRE scores?
Hi,
I have completed my graduation degree from a Distance Learning university. By the time I become eligible to apply at ISB, I will have completed my Masters degree course from a Distance Learning university while working and gaining experience.
1) I would like to know how does ISB look at Distance Learning university graduates?
2) Can I offset the fact of the degree being through Distance Learning by getting a High GMAT score to prove my academic capabilities, meaningful work-ex & ECA's?
Kindly suggest.
Thanks
You don't have to offset anything. Your distance learning degree will be given all consideration. However, you should not ignore the rest of your application - esp your essays and interview as these help us understand your self awareness, clarity of purpose and other strengths that you bring as candidate.
