@ISB.Admissions : Sir what is the logic behind the video essay??? Will the content matter or simply communication skills of the applicant shall be judged???

Hi Mr.Kannan,

I would like to know whether My MS in US will be considered as education or experience.

Thank you

Dear Sir,

I have got a reject last year, had applied in R1. But despite many mails, not yet received the feedback, nor any confirmation to receive the feedback.

I had to apply this year in R1 itself, however if I will not receive the feedback, it would be difficult for me to apply.

Please help out.

I have one suggestion here. I request to please quote the post in reply. Actually, many people, including me, often refer to queries posted by others and we often receive very imp info from your responses to others queries . When we see only the response, sometime it is difficult to recall the query and the context. It would be ok if you use just few lines in quote. That would serve the purpose. thank you!

rps

Good question. The video essay is meant to assess your communication skills, how clearly, coherently, correctly & engagingly you communicate. We would like to see you in the video and it can be a simple video done with your computer's camera. As with all our essays, we recommend you take time to think through your video essay, practice your delivery and send us your best take.

MS (Master of Science) would be considered education. If you have experience living overseas you may want to draw our attention to your relevant takeaways from this aspect of your profile.

Sir what to mention in 3rd essay?? If I have disparate things to share, how can I do that??
And in personal achievement, If we mention any adversity inspite of which we have achieved something, will that do or will it seem sumthing like sympathy gaining???

@[141361:ISB.Admissions] :: hello sir....
sir pls throw some light on deferred admission process.....
i read on the website that candidates wid less than 2 years of work experience may be granted admission on deferred basis :w00t:
i m also quoting it::

"Admission Prerequisites

We look to recruit students from a variety of backgrounds, nationalities, education and work experiences, to create a vibrant and diverse learning environment.
To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor €™s degree in any discipline.
  • Preferably two years of full-time work experience after graduation. Exceptional candidates, with less work experience, will be considered for deferred admission.
  • GMAT score *
  • TOEFL / IELTS / PTE score, only if language of instruction during undergraduate education was not English."

Sir,

I am into IT field with 10+ years of experience with a management profile. I now want to do an MBA and move into management consulting stream.

1. Need your help to validate if applying to ISB PGPX for a function change is a right step or is it that mostly people looking for entrepreneurship apply to ISB. I am a bit confused. Pls help. To me, gettign a structured management education while building an excellent network of industry connects is an important step to achieve my ambition.

2. My overall ovreseas experience is about 1 year spanning across a couple of trips. However I have immense exposure working with my clients over the telecons and videocons. Need your help to understand how important or deciding role does the overseas exposure play in the overall admissions process.

Thanks

Dear Sir,

My overall experience is around 15 years after Diploma. I pursued B.tech in part-time, 2008 passed out. Just want to know, how the experience would be assessed in my case.

Regards,
Rajesh

We cannot advise you on what items you should mention. That is upto you to decide. However, we welcome you talking about your interests, activities & involvements that are important to you beyond your work and studies and why these are important to you. They help us understand what makes you a unique person.
If you feel mentioning the adversity is important for us to understand the context of the situation & why you view the achievement as significant, please feel free to include it.

Candidates who are selected on the strength of their overall application but are short of the required 2 years of full-time workex, are offered deferred admission to a future PGP class by which time they would have completed the workex requirement. The process through which they are selected is the same as for the PGP class.

It is somewhat unclear whether you are looking at the PGP or the PGPMAX. If you are inquiring regarding the latter please write to them and they shall be glad to assist you.

Applicants to ISB's PGP class are expected to have a clear & realistic vision of what they would like to be doing post-ISB. Function & industry change or both are possible post-ISB. If you are keen on a particular line, like management consulting, you may wish to understand what kinds of career paths and entry options are typically available in your chosen industry. Employers also look for such clarity of purpose in addition to other role & industry specific skill rqmts . The onus of being more clear & focused about their goals is greater on candidates with more workex.

Your experience - domestic or international - is relevant for what your takeaways are from such experience. Your experience working with international clients/colleagues is considered part of your international exposure if you have noted it in your application. Lack of international work experience is not a negative as this is not always in the candidate's control.

Hello Sir

This is Archit Anand i had previously asked a few doubts, got few more:-

Doubt is regarding recommenders / refrals

I have selected two evaluators. One of them has completed his contract and is on land. As you might be aware that after completion of contract in Merchant Navy employee has no longer access to their official email id. Hence one of my evaluator also doesn't has access to his official emai id.
So can I give his unofficial email id in my applications.

Another Evaluator is still on ship but the ship doesn't has web access except receiving and sending emails in which attachments can be sent and recieved of specified sizes only.

Hence advise What should I do Or what do generally students from Merchant Navy background applying to ISB background do for refrals ?
