[2012] Ask ISB Hyderabad/Mohali: Admissions Director AM Kannan answers admission-related questions

Hi Sir,

I had a question around the merit based scholarships ISB offers for Indian candidates. I went through the Scholarships page on the website. I noticed that there are only a few that fall in this category and their deadline is mentioned as the month of may/June. Would this be May/June of 2013, which is after admissions or the month that has gone by.

Sir, while registering, we are required to enter our work ex. There is not timeline mentioned. Should I enter the work-ex as on the day of registration or as on 31st March 2013?
@krh782 said:Dear Sir, My overall experience is around 15 years after Diploma. I pursued B.tech in part-time, 2008 passed out. Just want to know, how the experience would be assessed in my case. Regards, Rajesh
Your workex post your completed degree would be used to determine if you have 2 or more years of experience. So if you received your BTech (part time) in 2008 - you may have around 4 years or more on 31 Mar 2013 depending on your work situation.

@themaster said:@ISB.Admissions: I am a fresher graduate, does this mean that even I can apply and in case I get through i'll be eligible for the 2014-2016 class?

Yes, you can apply if you have completed your degreee and depending on how strong your application is, ISB may offer you deferred admission to the program. Candidates offered deferred admission are required to complete 2 years workex prior to joining the PGP.

@Adit05 said:Dear sir, I am 24 years old, I have done BMM and diploma in graphic designs , i have been working in securocrop securities pvt. ltd. as investor communication specialist past 3 years since 2009.... i have a keen interest in developing my career in Corporate Consultancy field .... please tell me some good tips on preparation for the interview and my chances of getting in ISB PGP . Thanks
We cannot comment your chances as without a completed application it is not possible to understand what a candidate brings and how clear are they about their goals & how the PGP fits into their plans. As a starting point, please review our application requirements and review the Q&A; information provided on this site regarding what is expected of applicants to ISB.
@architanana said:Hello Sir This is Archit Anand i had previously asked a few doubts, got few more:- Doubt is regarding recommenders / refrals I have selected two evaluators. One of them has completed his contract and is on land. As you might be aware that after completion of contract in Merchant Navy employee has no longer access to their official email id. Hence one of my evaluator also doesn't has access to his official emai id. So can I give his unofficial email id in my applications. Another Evaluator is still on ship but the ship doesn't has web access except receiving and sending emails in which attachments can be sent and recieved of specified sizes only. Hence advise What should I do Or what do generally students from Merchant Navy background applying to ISB background do for refrals ? Regards Archit Anand Second Officer NYK Shipmanagment
You can choose offline mode for your recommendations when you are applying through our portal. Include the unofficial email & mailing address of your recommenders and they can send us their recommendations in this way.

Approximately 15%, ie. around 110 students receive merit or need based scholarships. http://www.isb.edu/pgp/Scholarships.Shtml
IN ADDITION, admitted students are also eligible to apply for external, corporate scholarships. These have specific deadlines in the year in which the candidates begin the PGP (i.e, in 2013 for this round of applications).

The Societe Generale scholarship application date would be in May 2013.

Dear Sir,

Application deadline on portal is mentioned as follows - "Sep 15, 2012 23:59:59 Hrs (Indian Time)" And offer date as "On or before Nov 15, 2011".

I want to know what is the deadline on or before which one can expect interview call? This is a bit important for me to plan other personal things.

Thanks

Sir, How many applications come per year @ ISB on an average?

ISB's PGP looks for candidates who are future leaders and will make a difference in India & to the world. Take time to think through your application beyond your GMAT scores, workex and academic scores. Reflect on what is important to you, what you have learnt in the workplace and other experiences, where you are headed, how committed are you to your professional & personal goals, how you are more than just someone who studies hard and works hard but is a well-rounded unique individual who has their own interests, activities, and is engaged in their community. How well you communicate & demonstrate all the aforementioned attributes will help you make a strong application.

Dear Sir,

I have 2 patents pending to my name from Controller General of patents,India. I would like to show them in my profile while applying to ISB.

However, since they are in a pending state, they will not reflect in the Patent search website. But I have an official certificate/acknowledgement from the Controller General of patents regarding this.

My question is would this acknowledgement be sufficient in case of your verifications etc ? or is there anything extra in particular, that ISB admission committee will be needing ?

ThankYou !
