[2013-2015] FMS Delhi Discussions

Anyone with a basic knowledge of GD will know that

(a) you don't use offensive language (even with *** 😁 )
(b) you don't pass a judgement, you pass an opinion/fact (Ah, those "Inference Judgement Fact Statement" questions in AIMCATs).
(c) you don't express emotions like aggression/despair/disgust/sarcasm etc.
(d) you generally want to reach towards a conclusion, but you don't try to force your opinion on others.

What has happened here is exactly opposite to that. 😛 Save your energy people.
In the long run, Nobody can snatch from you what you deserve. People from good pvt. colleges have done much better than many IIM students in the past. Cherish on what you have, i.e. better percentiles, don't cry on what you don't have. All the Best

PS: My opinion only! :-)

I deleted my previous post as I shared some personal info which seemed a bit inappropriate for me later. But once in for all i want to write last post in this thread.1] I never said about women's reservation anywhere mam. False accusation.2] Those two ppl I compared are both girls. So your argument is not valid at all.3] Speaking on women's equality, some insti give extra marks for being women tell me where is EQUALITY in it? 4] Yes I agree women are repressed in our country. But you being a women (presumably) WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR UPLIFTMENT OF THE WOMEN till now? Why women need reservation to enter Bschools and not in primary education?Think about all this before you post your non-sensible thoughts in B-school forum. And also before I end my post that SH** is not made up its the REAL SH**.Thanks.
Abhinav...I VOLUNTEER TO TEACH POOR GIRLS. So before you make statements like "what have you done for upliftment" etc...think and think hard, and look for a valid argument to pose. I am also a b-school aspirant like you. I always qualify everything I say with strong proof. That's a different matter that you are probably a massive chauvinist.

Mazaa aa raha hai chalne do show...

Everyone is worried about poor woman and other poor ppl who r under reservation....what abt general poor ppl.... arent they in the same situation? watever argument is there for others is it not applicable to general poor ppl.... Or is it that just bcoz they are general they have all the means available to them?

@CATtch2011 Yes, lets keep our views to ourselves
but "hope you get in there so that you won't get a chance to point your finger at anyone that I couldn't make it because of him or her"
Thanks for hoping but seriously blaming is less of an issue and i learnt it hard way that there is no point in blaming anyone.!!

Also, i will still maintain that after 3 generation, ( 65 years) reservations still exists and infact the percentage keep on increasing, it either shows that people havent grown academically or socially or financially in which case its futile to keep on reservation at the cost of others deserving ones OR people have grown so accustomed to it that they want it more than need it.

try justifying a 44 %tile SC/St candidate in IIM A whereas >99.5 percentilers dont even get a call. If you can justify, good for you !!!

All those superhero's who get into IIM's after so many DIVERSE Quota's would be pure gold at the time of placements. This is the best time to get into IIM ABCL for a general male engineer ( provided one can manage so ).

No dude.. Wrong.. I have a friend at an IIM.. She says the industry requires girls.. All the companies are shortlisting girl candidates and giving them higher salaries than their male counterparts..
Finally the industry is driving these criteria of IIMs.. What can IIMs do in this matter? I myself don't have any call. But now I understand their penchant for such diversity.
@abhishek.b11 well then we have no other option then to kneel before girls and non-engineers.

P.S. Our hard work can not be defeated. A recruiter who is looking for people who can really perform, would not look at our sex/background. I have teared that page from my dictionary that mentions the word diversity.
@swetad I am not crying. I am stating what's the present scenario. Obviously if some one gets into an IIM and I go to some other XYZ college,I have to acknowledge their superiority(as of now). Nevertheless, I would not stop striving hard and try to carve out my opportunities !! That's my point .

Guys

With GDPI round the corner , i think it would be great if you could focus your time and attention on that , instead of debating on social issues or matters that are not in your hand.
I can assure you guys one thing , once GDPI is done , You guys would start cribbing about , had i read that portion ? had i answered that question in a better way ? and things which you cant do much about then.
Being an Engineer with 4 years work-ex in IT, i had these apprehensions as well , but can never say that no B-school really dint give me a fair chance to defend my candidature.
Please use this thread only for FMS or other B-skool related discussions.

Guys does FMS place any weightage on experience in relevant fields. I am working in the financial sector for past 3.5 years in a profile involving analysis of balance sheet, industry analysis and sanctioning of loans to corporates. What is the CAT percentile required to get a call?

Last year the last person to get an interview call in general category had 98.73%ile.FMS doesnt explicitly define any weightage for any kind of experience , but if u are able to impress the interviewers you have good chances .
Personally i had a bad extempore , but did had a nice interview, but the results showed good marks in all of them. So focus on being able to answer all the questions related to your field. Be ready for a volley of questions coming your way !

IS there No extempore topic this time.?

n what is the weight-age of CAT score.?

Wont say tough .. you cant change urself completely in a month .. but make sure u impress them a lot. Dont take any kind of pressure .. learn to handle FMS GDs .
Be creative in ur extempore and flash ur knowledge wherever u can. They love it if u are well informed.
I already had a convert from IIML when i went into the FMS interview , so i was quite relaxed and that helped i guess .. since i was at my very best.
@sachin_nitrkl My CV looks like this, X-91%, XII-83.5%, B.Com-61% apart from the work ex. Also I have another certification in finance i.e Post Graduate Programme in banking and Finance-8 CGPA out of 10. Since I am based in Delhi, my first preference is FMS after the top 4 IIMs. Do any of these have any effect in reducing the percentile for call or I just have to slog it out for 99 percentile no matter what.
