@srikanthm1987 : Hi! can you tell me what is the config of the laptop that is to be used for the course??? urgent please i have someone coming from Dubai! thought of asking him to buy one for me to save a few bucks! please help! very very very urgent!
There's no mandatory configuration as such. Any laptop which can run the basic applications, particularly MS-Office suite (preferably 2007 or above), Adobe acrobat & of course, has wireless connectivity 😉 is absolutely fine.
@arjunracing - A gud reply but just fyi.." Your argument holds good only for B.Tech's and other graduates who pass out and go for an IT job. "
Companies never let go of their cheap labour...i.e. there is never the lay off of IT grads who work for them at cheaper rates..Layoffs are meant for ppl sitting idle at higher positions i.e managers...but then I completely agree that IT is not the only sector tht gets affected by recession..if IT ship sinks it is obvious for other sectors be it finance, marketing or banking to sink as well!
@112abha : That is also true, just that where i worked it was the other way around !
Nonetheless every year we hear some prediction/analysis that IT sector is going down, companies are downsizing, placements are gonna get hit , that sector is gonna get affected and what not.
And from SCIT we do not have a single case of employee layoff happening to any of our pass outs. Arjun Shankar 2012-2014 BatchSCIT

Hi,
There is nothin called an ideal configuration..You can go for any laptop that you are comfortable with..You require internet, and the usual software like word ,excel n powerpoint...etc...
usually how many years of exp is considered by most of the companies for laterals at the time of placement.like i have 20 months of exp would it be suffice as a lateral for companies like infosys, tcs, accenture and other companies.
plz seniors, reply urgently...others if have any info plz reply
@adarsh100 Dude I met a senior during GE/PI and I was informed that people with 18 months work ex are considered for lateral by the college, but it might as well depend on the company(though very rare) ,if they have any specific criteria of their own in terms of work ex(like they will consider a person with 24 months work ex as a lateral),generally 18 months is the criteria set forth by most companies. But he also said that even if you have a 6 month experience and you can substantiate it during the interview, you'll be compensated accordingly.Seniors please add if I missed something.
