@m3ghna said:Hey!A thought has been bothering me since long and would like to seek an insight into it from the Admissions Team or any of the SCIT alumni.I am an IT professional and will have almost 20 months of work-ex at the time of enrolling myself (optimistically assuming that I make it this year )I want to know how different my life would be, professionally, after pursuing MBA from SCIT. By this, I mean comparison of career graphs after 'quitting a stable job + 2 years of MBA-ITBM from SCIT' and 'continued two more years of work-ex without any MBA degree' I am aware of the fact that an MBA degree does fetch one a more responsible role. But I have also seen people achieve the same, as much as a B-school pass-out has, minus the MBA tag.I hope my query is not too abstract! Looking forward to a non-diplomatic justification... Cheers!
Hi Meghna
Probably I will start off answering this and my friends would share their opinion too.
Let me tell you, many friends from my batch have similar experience with which they have joined SCIT. There are many reasons why students do MBA(With respect to IT):
1. Change in Role (Probably moving from a Technical Role to a Techno-Managerial role)
2. Increase in Pay.
3. Change in Specialization (Moving from a Systems Domain to an Information Security Domain)
First reason is served, for example you wont be going back to do software coding but probably would be doing a role of business analysis.
Second Reason is also served, but yes this should be the last thing which drives you to do an MBA 😃 !
Third Reason, Yes people do come in with software development experience and want to move into information security domain because that is what interests them now.
When you say you have seen people achieve the same, as much as a B-School Passout has without an MBA Tag, then probably you might be comparing it from a package point of view, it might be true in some cases. This is something which is unique to each person's capability. Again we are only comparing the Tangible Outcomes of doing an MBA, we are again not talking of how you grow as a person in terms of thinking and presenting yourself etc.
What and How much you gain from an MBA in IT Business Management all depends on what interests you to do an MBA in IT & what you want to be doing at the end of an MBA. And at the same time, what you learn throughout your MBA also matters.
Let me add a line here, Career graphs of two people without an MBA need not be same and at the same time Career graphs of two people with an MBA need not be same. It is very unique to individual based on his capabilities.
Hope my reply is not as abstract as the question

and I've tried hard not to answer it diplomatically
