1. what is the reality of placements.?
BE Logical,Be Reasonable! All your Answers Lies within, just change the frame of reference! I was shortlisted in the first meritlist itself, but i withdrawn my admission offer becoz of 2 "major" reasons, soon you will get to know whay i quoted the word "major" 1> i am a fresher 2>my academics is NOT consistent with 60% aggregate throughout. Now there are some strong facts that i would like to share which i happen to learn in the past few months from some eminent personalities who are working as Associate Consultants at Infosys some are Business Analysist at Cognizant som from Wipro and many more.BUT before i begin ,i would clearly like to quote that this explanation is purely based on my deduction from different sources it has Nothing to do with the Institute as an individual,as the content is a general explanation to the people who are passing through the diallama of situation of which i was passing ones, hence i having the right to speech and people on the other hand having the right to "true" Information,i am sharing my view. The placement stats what is put fewdays back could have already been deducted from the Linkedin community, where you could consult actual seniors for suggestions and scnario of IT industry rather than those who are simply marketing the institute by giving diplomatic answers, though i believe its NOT there fault but unfortunately they are told to do so but inspite of this fact i waited for the figures to be out so that the data itself could reveal the truth. Actually,NO Matter How far you study hard at the Institute, when it comes to Placement, the Companies are very strict. I would Just like to take an example of 4 Dream comapnies of everyone here, that is Infosys,Accenture,Wipro & TCS,when they visit to the campus they are damm strict about the academics and CGPA if it is 60%,than even 59.99 is strictly NOT allowed,if you have some source you can confirm the same.to be very frank i wanted to go in the top four,so that atleast after mba i could secure my career, but whn i came to know certain reality/analysis,the seen changed drastically secondly, the increment in the NON-eligible students from 6 to 36 and in total intake(its 171,which should have been 180,what ever may be the reson and what ever may be the category, but i think its for the first time the so called premier IT B school got seats falling vacant) ,this trend is NOT only becoz of students there ,but one must also look at the other face of the coin, the corporates are getting strict day by day,and 2 years down the line who knows corporate makes the eligibility criteria as 65% throughout and CGPA 3 minimum, Now it is obvious that the toppers even in that case will NOT suffer, but those people with low academics who took the admission thinking that they will make it in the institute will be the most severely hit. in that case the institute will simply put the update as : 100 elligible(with CGPA 3 minimum),99 placed, now who cares the leftover 80,becoz everybody thinks that he/she is the best and hence the marketing will go on and on ,and in the coming year if Recession is NOT directly going to hit MBA IT that this is how the degrading stats will be hit INDIRECTLy.Just give a thought why the prestigious IIMs give around 40% weight-age(IIM B gives 80% weightage though) for academics, does they dont have the best brains in the country?,but still they follow that rule becoz now the academics barrior has been a major criteria from the corporates sides, and NOT just the Institute,no diplomatic answer can ever CONFUTE this fact now! Thirdly,in this tug war if someone suffers the most than it the freshers and than the those who are from the NON-IT baground and that could be seen from the placemnt stats as well, who knows outof 180 those 36 are mostly among the freshers and NON-IT students admitted to the students, and i m sure this ratio will increase in the subsequent year, the major reason i can give or you yourself can see is the preference of SCIT from this year for selecting more Work-ex " candidates over freshers in the merit list,as they have also analyzed that the overall average package could be increased if most of them will be work-ek guys and NOT just freshers,so business of the institute demands that step to be incorporated in the merit selection process! Fourthly,i would have even took the admission by taking the risk of 31,000 but just go deep with the analysis the loss is NOT of what it appears the loss is of 2 years and around 8 LAKHS which an individual will invest by arranging loans and various other sources, the fear here is i know that m a fresher and with low acads, what if i came to be one NON eligible one,my next 10 years will go just in paying the loan only and along with the me being a big liability to the parents and society. NOw it was NOT only me who knew that this scene is pevaling there in the good/top IT companies, the effect was clearly reflected this year: 1>the cutoff of the institute went so low that the institute itself was felling uncomfortable to disclose it,though from some sources on this forum it was deduced to be around 35 a drop of 28 from last year(i agree that the paper was tough, but 35 was NOT expected on any ground),i m NOT sure if it went even less than that, but it was NOT in any case higher than this.so clearly if a student with 35 or 40 snap score will enter the institute it is sure that the placement figure will suffer and keep on dipping year after year,a common deduction! 2>NOw the question arises, why did the institute go so low as 35?,the answer is becoz they were bound give call to around 1400 students which could NOT have been adjustable if the cutoff would had been 50 to 60.this clearly indicates the number and quality of application the institute has received(it is estimated that this year the institute did not received more that around 1600 application). 3>NOT declaring the first waiting list and giving them direct offers, creates 2 suspects a)Allowing Backdoor entry, even if we consider this fact wrong its fine, but what about the second one; b)The institute doesNOT want to show that the waitlist clearence was very long, becoz if suppose 300 waitlisted students would had cleared by last year's formulae, but this year than after hiding 100 the institute will show that only upto 200 was given the final call, though it is 300 in actual but the first 100 was hide by the institute to save its business repo in the corporates!remember:the more longer the merit list will be, the more placemnts stats deteroriated you will find in the subsequent year, hence it was bound to play the hide and seek game. c)why was it that the first meritlist student(which was full with work-ek candidates) was given 20 days to pay the fee with penalty of 31 k,and now it is only 10 days being given to the rest of the candidates,to my knowledge its simply becoz they then wanted those to retain at the institute (as majority of them were with good SNAP score, good work -ex,good academics and hence could bring good placemnts),now the leftovers is a mix or the NOT so preferred ones and hence keeping them in the waitlist is just another way of saying that "TAKE ADMISSION AT YOUR OWN RISK,ACCORDING TO US,WE WERE RESPONSIBLE ONLY FOR THE FIRST MERIT" and its being clearly reflected in their placements stats ,its now all about time that students takes to pay the fee is what matters not whether 200 waitlist rank gets in or 555,becz the institute is even ready to offer a seat to the 555th candidate too,and this data itself is shocking that for the first time 555 are kept in waitlist, allocating a RANK was just a trick played by the Institute. thats all i learnt and to see this all you have to believe in the fact that there are two kinds of people "one who is inside the business, like ryt now we are being put into by the management of the Institute, and then there are those inside whom the business itself lies,be in the later kind you will obsrve all this phenomenon. finally, this post is NOT an offend , as it is purely a obsrvation to which anybody is free to observe and share, but it could be an eye-opener to some who believes in "A reasonable IMpossibility is always better than a Convincing Possibility" [well said by N.R.Narayan Murthy,Chief Mentor Infosys]
