Your snap score is scaled down to 40 marks.

20 marks - GE (Should be 10 marks each)
20 marks - PI (Should be 10 marks each)

20 marks - 10th & 12th & College & Workex. (The distribution won't be revealed by the college, I guess)

P.S - I am just an aspirant. Trying to help you!

Essay writing was a part of the interview! My essay was evaluated during the subjective interview, not sure about everyone so I guess it'll come along the subjective interview.

Disclaimer - Everything mentioned here is based on my own analysis and understanding. I am still not a part of the college.

Hi

There is a lot confusion πŸ˜ƒ let me clear the query asked.

158 is the Total Number of offers made to the batch.

And 100 % Placement is of the Open Category.

And also, the placement policy doesn't have the criteria of the Open Category πŸ˜ƒ [I understand the fact the statement under the statistics is a little ambiguous but i'm clearing the doubt here!] The Open Category mentioned near the statistics is only confined for the placement statistics and no way related to the placement policy!

For the batch 2010-12, the placement policy had a criteria - minimum of 2.45 CGPA.

Also, please understand that this is just an informal public forum and we as a part of admissions team understand that there are many aspirants here, so we are here clear all the queries.

We also have different other platforms where all the aspirants can ask their queries.
1. SCIT Admissions Queries 2013-15 Facebook Page.
2. Our Own Admissions Portal: http://www.scit.edu/admissions/ where you can ask queries to the Director, Faculty and Students of SCIT directly. (You can call it the official portal for clearing the queries)
3. You can always directly mail to the Director of SCIT at [email protected] addressing your concerns.

Also, we had one of the aspirant asking a query in the portal and our director has addressed it the blog as well. Please find the link below: http://blog.scit.edu/2013/02/21/my-answers-to-an-scit-mbaitbm-aspirant/

Let me tell you all once again, we are here to clear all your queries :). We might be little busy with our academics so we might not be here on all times, so please be patient πŸ˜ƒ !!

I got this on scit BLOG(BY Director SIR),,,,For me this is enough to know about SCIT_____________________________________________________

Dear All
I got this question from an aspirant which was posted at http://www.scit.edu/admissions/feedback.php , Query ID : 447
I had to give a long answer, and hence thought of blogging it..
****************************************************************************
Respected Sir
I am a bit worried and tensed with some anonymous posts by one or two who have possibly passed out of SCIT or other symbiosis institutes. These posts have been in circulation in some public forum. They focus on placements at SCIT, the placement officer, the placement cell and also to be frank, even about your attitude too! I will be very glad if you could please clear some of my doubts/ questions. I ask these questions as I have a very good profile and have applied only for SCIT and others B schools, and my decision to join SCIT ( if selected) will depend on several factors and your answers to these questions is also one among them.
What's the current placement scenario? Are all students from SCIT placed?
Why are you not updating the placement statistics for the current batch?
Do Big four and other consulting firms recruit students from SCIT based on the recommendations by placement officer?
Could please let us know the names of placement team members? Are they all from a specific region or state?
Do you restrict students from posting their opinions on facebook and other public forums?
Do you always display the correct placement statistics? ( Can you swear on god and claim it TRUE?!)
A honest answer will be highly appreciated
An SCIT Aspirant
****************************************************************************
My Answer
Dear Aspirant
Before I go ahead with answers , I have a request – Just ponder on this– β€œIf someone is straight forward and feels whatever he or she claims is true, and is bothered about everyone's well being why do they choose to remain anonymous?! ”
You have also informed ( guessed ?) that those, who post such stuff, have passed out of SCIT or possibly from other symbiosis institutes. If this is the case they could easily reveal their identity, like their mobile number, name, batch PRN number etc without any apprehensions what so ever!
Now let me answer your questions one by one
1.What's the current placement scenario? Are all students from SCIT placed?
A) The current placement scenario is good.
B) All eligible students (those who have a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0) have taken ATLEAST 3 interviews, based on their interest and choice. Best of the corporate brands have picked students from SCIT and the process is still on.
C) There are approximately 15 eligible students (those who have a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0) still waiting to get placed. We still have 45 more days to go, and are optimistic that these students will get their dream jobs!
D) 80% of the open category students have secured more than 2.5 as their CGPA
F) We never claim β€œAll students get placed” as SCIT is not a placement agency! We certainly focus on the eligible students, and give opportunities to them. In fact we also have students who have opted out of placement process for becoming entrepreneurs. I suggest you must view this video posted at youtube.
G) There are corporate houses who insist on looking at ALL STUDENTS, this helped us in giving opportunities all our students, which includes students having CGPA less than 2.5 . Many have cashed on such opportunities to get placed.
You can check our website on 28th Feb 2013 for more details.
2. Why are you not updating the placement statistics for the current batch?
As already informed our website will be updated on 28th Feb 2013 with details related to placements! I think it is fair as the merit list and waiting list is getting released on this date. Hence all those (Selected and Waitlisted) who are keen to know about placements, can get them without any hassle. All those who are rejected can also know it, if they are interested and eligible they can apply and give a try to get into our PGDITBM program! Life does not give a second chance but SCIT does !
3. Do Big four and other consulting firms recruit students from SCIT based on the recommendations by placement officer?
Big four taking people on recommendation?! This actually made me laugh … I wanna make you clear on one thing, its not only Big Four, ANY corporate house which recruits students are not doing charity to us! They PAY all those hires! Unless the Technical round/ rounds the HR round is also cleared, no one can get into any consulting firm! All corporate houses do their due diligence and pick students to join them. So never ever assume such things!
4. Could please let us know the names of placement team members? Are they all from a specific region or state?
I wonder why are you so keen to know the names! Well here it is J Sahil Khurana, Sree Sharan Sanku, Harsha Hatti , Prinyanka Jain, Mayank Garg, Kaustabh Bhattacharjee, Saily Kalbhor, Prateek Dighe and Nikhil Motlag. From the names you can certainly guess that these students are from different states including Delhi, Andhara Pradesh, West Bengal , Gujarat covering East , West, North & South of India and certainly not from a specific state or region
5. Do you restrict students from posting their opinions on SCIT facebook and other public forums?
I never restrict the students to post their opinions on face book, but I have certainly advised them not to post anything offensive –Like – β€œPosting of Photos taken which are basically Pranks played by them mimicking something offensive” or β€œPosts which demean a religion” – this advice was needed as you know the tag – β€œLIKE-SHARE-BAIL” was becoming popular at one point of time!
6. Do you always display the correct placement statistics? (Can you swear on god can claim it TRUE?!)
Swear on god! What made you guess, of me being a believer!
Yes, I always ensure that correct placement stats are posted on our website. You can check http://blog.scit.edu/2012/11/02/scit-placement-stats/ where I have stated that right since inception in 2001 till date, a total of 1597 have graduated from SCIT and of them 1477 were placed from campus and the balance 120 either started their own firm or opted out of placements or did not find a job immediately after they graduated.
I have one more suggestion for you – Look at all the blogs that I have posted – I have written about the CRISIL rating( they have rated our program after examining all the process which includes placements), the Summer Internship with scholarship at RITS- Japan, the awards own by students and accolades of SCIT and many more!
Doesn't your common prudence tell you that SCIT is a good B school for sure!

Director – SCIT

@SreeSharan.s

hello sir,

can u plz clarify one thing that you mentioned in your post that 100 % placement is for general category.Does it mean that only reserve catg. students didnt get placed and out of those 158 placed candidates there is no SC/ST students.

And as far as this type of categorization is concerned no other institute give this type of statistics. After seeing your reply ,

being an sc catg i am little worried that inspite of having very good academics with good enough IT exp. till now and if i will do well in SCIT ,will i get a fair chance to get placed.

having kneen interest in IT and faith in the SCIT ,the premier IT B-school ,i applied for it and after coming so long i got to know these type of info.it really made me worried.

plz reply....

@IChawla
Was answer of Q1 D genuine? if then one must think over it.
Was the answer of Question No. 6 Acceptable ??

GOT MA ANS.

1. Visit http://blog.scit.edu/
2. Register with a valid email id
3. Once you receive e-mail containing password and a account approval email, Log in using your credentials and post your experience by clicking on New Post on the Top Left corner. (Account Approval may take up some time)

For any further queries, email us at [email protected]

ok leaving aside all things.....what was the last waitlist number to get converted?>

@dumb4cat
My friend, i asked this question because you can see in the last post about the placement info what @SreeSharan.s mentioned is that 100 % placement for general catg and even in the director's
answer to the query he mentioned 80% general catg student scored 2.45 who were eligible for the placement.

Now tell me one thing have u ever seen such type of statistics about placements on this forum or any other college's site where it is mentioned some catg. based stats. i dont think that it should be like this and if the whole process is fair then what is the need to present it like this.
And if things are presented like this then certainly one would have such type of questions
in one's mind.

And being an aspirant only i am asking this qstn as this all about of my future and of many more like me.

p.s. expecting some wise and thoughtful comment from you and plz answer some query if u have any info, based on facts.

seniors this is my sincere request to all of you to answer my query.

Dear aspirants,
You wanted a word from the students & particularly the admissions team, so here you have it. My apologies if you aren't gonna like what you read from this post. πŸ˜ƒ

The heated discussions have been going on for some time now, and they are a typical part of every year's proceedings. πŸ˜ƒ All in good faith of course. It is you who are going to invest valuable time and money into an institute and are expecting better returns for your future. You have every reason to be worried. But then, think for a moment. You guys have applied for and have gone thru the first few rounds of your admissions. You have done your part as well as you could have and now await the result. Did you guys, for a moment think about the institute you have applied for? Its caliber its repute, it's characteristics? You are ASPIRING to be a part of a great institute which has committed to churn out the professionals in you, and you are expected inevitably to think like and portray yourself as complete competitive professionals. When someone trashes the institute, we do not expect you to slam him/her down, but take a moment to ponder the authenticity of the source, dig in a little deeper, and THINK before you pen your thoughts for the whole world to see. πŸ˜ƒ

I assure you that the information provided by a particular imbecile is completely false and fake. To be honest, it looks like some disgruntled person who either did not have a good GE/PI experience, or maybe.. (right, lets not get into it. there could be numerous possibilities). On this note, I can definitely relate this experience to the 2 year's worth of valuable knowledge I have gained from our very own institute in question, which was successful in imparting some very good lessons in management. Let me share what I think / feel:

1. It is completely unethical, unprofessional and absolutely CHEAP to mention names and launch a verbal vendetta on public forums. Heck, even the forums dont support it !! read the rules before getting on-board for God's sake !! 😁 😁

2. If you want to prepare a case against someone or something, get your figures right. No institute, especially that of the Symbiosis family would even DARE to publish blown up / fake figures. I mean, what's the point? There's nothing to hide anyway. Do not cook up your own figures and publish them to spread panic. It isn't a pleasant experience for other aspirants who depend upon the college.

3. Know what you want before venturing into something. SCIT is an IT-Business School, offering a course in IT Business Management, aimed at producing the finest (i daresay) in its class. With its exhaustive curriculum (which would help if you have a look at) shapes a student into a Techno-Manager, wherein he/she is trained to manage an IT function/business. If you want to specialize in marketing / finance / HR, this is NOT the place my dear friends. Take it from me, you will regret your decision in that case :)

4. Any reputed organization, consulting firm or auditing firm (with the BIG 4's leading the list) will NOT and CAN NOT recruit any student merely on ANYONE's recommendation. That is the most ridiculous claim anyone can ever throw at the institute and the companies. Every company has a strenuous selection process as they require the best of the best, and eventually they would be the organization's "resources". Therefore, I suggest that before anyone puts such allegations in writing, they think about the implications first. Think about it, you are aiming to try and defame one of the most prestigious institutes in India, and a few of the most reputed organizations in the WORLD, a few of whom thrive on laws & regulations. Worth it? (I wouldn't think so πŸ˜ƒ )

5.There are a few people who wish to be completely negative and go ballistic against the institute. They aren't even courageous enough to use their original ID's or profiles. Request you all to please look into such users and think whether they are genuine before actually believing what they put up.

6. The admissions team consists entirely of students. We are not paid to market the institute in any way, we volunteer and help aspirants, out of our own interests in the little time that we can spare from our crucial academic life. We do not function as 24x7 help-desks πŸ˜ƒ I hope all
of you understand that.

7. It appears that most of the aspirants have only one thing in mind at present - PLACEMENTS !! Guys, you haven't even converted your calls, you haven't even stepped into the campus, you haven't even attended ONE session at SCIT !! Would you like it if you are pitched against rigorous recruitment processes from DAY-1 ?? I suggest you look at the overall picture, rather run the race, before demanding the Trophy 😁
In the same breath, I assure you, that if you believe in yourself, give it your best, perform consistently well across all aspects of your 2 year tenure, then there's nothing stopping you from getting picked up by some of the best names in the industry. Please do not judge an institute by its placement figures. Lets take a scenario where you get into a college which boasts of the best placement numbers, but by some misfortune, don't qualify to be placed, is that the college's fault? I'm not saying this would happen to you at SCIT. In fact, it never would. Every single student is given a fair chance during recruitment. It is up to the student to capitalize and crack the opportunity. As i always say, the offer letter will NOT be handed over to you in a golden platter πŸ˜ƒ
My point is, there are other aspects to consider as well. MBA is not just about placements. Its about building your personality as a whole, being enriched with knowledge both inside & outside the classroom, and of course, having fun participating in a huge number of activities.

Dear Aspirants, MBA is a challenging course. MBA in ITBM, even more so. I suggest all those who convert the call and decide to embark upon this journey to gear up, and come on board with a positive attitude and an open mind. Leave your "politics" at the gate before stepping in, be good to everyone, and they'l be good to you. πŸ˜ƒ

Thats all I can say for now. I hope it has been adequate πŸ˜ƒ

All the very best to each & ever one of you.
Cheers
