Reading the conversations I also have one query. I have heard that every year PLC officer has some favorite students and all of them are placed in best companies and hence they call it quota of PLC officer. This year also quota was there and these students have got tshirts printed which say they are proud to be in quota and every one else can go to hell. Is it true?

If you look at the curriculum you will find a mix of both IT and Core management subjects...Marketing is one of them..along with Financial accounting,Business Processes,Economics etc...
From Systems specialization we have ERP Modules..and Infrastructure Management has netwrk security,network protocols etc...
Now the electives can be chosen from any of the 4 specializations ad core subjects are mandatory...
All in all..the curriculum is designed in such a way that a person is well equipped to handle the IT business efficiently...
Also the course is not technical in nature..as in even Non IT guys can easily cope up with it..more focus is on understanding the management side of IT...
I cannot compare between B-schools as it would be unfair on my part...
But If you want to pursue a career in IT...then this is the place to be...!!

i tottaly agree wid u... i am a current student of this collage and i will also say u all another incident that occurs sum time recently in the past... one of my frnds was listening music during veryy veryy boring seminar conduct by SCIT collage. plasement officer see this and break his earfones and then detain him from a process... george's (the victim student) father then call & apollogice for him and then only she alow him back for plasement... in the same incident another frnd of me (his name priyaank v) was also punished... he was nt evn listning music, just reading a book... wats wrng in dat yaar? he not trbling anyone just reading his book but plasement officer get hyper and unecessrly scolds both poor fellows... these events are not everything yaar... plasement officer give heavy impotance to such stupid seminars etc.... who care about this shit event/? we hav paid to collage so much money for plasement, y we shud suffer yaar? this is just sample yaar... the course here is veryy tough... classes happens for us till late night also in sum days, aisa lagta hai army join kar li...
yaar symbi me toh internal papero me bhi back lagti hai... meri maano, SCIT kya akkha symbi gaya tel lene... khhud ko bachaoo aur kisi aisi jagah se kar lo jaha faculty thode lenient ho...

Internships that students have bagged from the college have a good mix of ITES and marketing profiles (Last two years data) and as for final placements, there are a few companies (good companies but mind you, few - 3 or 4 in number) who come to campus to recruit specifically for marketing profiles. Regarding operations, I donμ°½β¬β’t know of any companies who come to recruit (during both internships and final placements).

Hey guys what's exactly is goin on here? Why this forum is attacked in such a way? Seniors, throw a light on this? I am not worried @ all such shit negativity some users trying to spread, my only concern is
1. Is SCIT worthy to invest 8 lakhs in MBA ITBM looking at my 3 years of exp in IT and good academics nd engg in IT? I am takin education loan for this so this is imp to me nd m much concerned @ it..
2. Will i get descent placement nd able to repay loan?
I am confident on my performance and my dedeciation to academics and so answering this query will clear my doubts.. Quick response is appreciated..

I think we are comparing two very different things here. I will try to explain you in very simple terms.
MBA in IT Business Management will be very specific to Information Technology i.e. it would deal with various areas such as Information Security, IT Infrastructure, Software Solutions and of course systems.

MBA in IT Business Management will be very specific to Information Technology i.e. it would deal with various areas such as Information Security, IT Infrastructure, Software Solutions and of course systems.
So, considering one has interest in Information Technology when he is opting for MBA in IT Business Management. He/She will undergo the course in which curriculum is closely knitted around IT and also with few General Management Courses such as Finance, Marketing Etc. (Advise you to look at the course curriculum once). After this, coming to the placements, the IT profiles offered are like consultants, business analysts etc. and also we have IT companies coming in for profiles like Sales & marketing too, where they look for students who have IT Knowledge and also who have skills of Sales & Marketing. ( Here you can say Majority of the learning is around IT and Minority is around other fields)
Coming to MBA in Operations/Marketing, starting from the course curriculum, everything is very different. The Operations Course Curriculum will related to supply chain management, Materials Management etc. and Marketing Course Curriculum will revolve around International Marketing, Brand Marketing, Services Marketing, Retail Marketing etc. So, one will learn courses very specific to the specialization. Placements: FMCG Companies are usually the recruiters more than IT Companies for the profiles like Operations & Marketing.
So personally I would advise you to look beyond 5-10 years and try to understand where your interest will lie. So there is nothing like you are going to narrow down your scope, its that both have their own paths and future. One thing you can do is go through the course curriculum of both and try looking at the subjects on offer and try to find which courses you can relate more to and what will keep you interested for long term.

I like the way you are looking at this π Let me help you in clearing your query. Please don't worry about spammers around. I would advise you visit linkedIN and check all the alumni profiles and look at what roles/designations they are working right now, that is something which one should be looking at.
Coming to queries:
1. MBA IT Business Management is for all the MBA aspirants who either have prior experience in IT & are looking for an MBA and want to capitalize on the experience they have in IT. And also for all those freshers who have completed their engineering and are interested in IT and are looking for an MBA in IT. Your profile looks good and quite ideal for an MBA in IT BM. Let me tell you, most of us here have come to do an MBA by taking an educational loan π ! So you need not exactly worry about it. Instead of concentrating on 1 such frustrated soul, one should look at others who are doing well π ! You should tell us how was your experience during the GE-PI.. Since you must have interacted with the volunteers around π !
2. I like that you are valuing the performance, dedication and learning of the 2 years we spend here. We often tend to forget the 2 years we are going to spend here and skip to the later part of placements. You can always trust the fact if you are good and perform well, no one can ever stop you from what you deserve. There are close to 400 students studying here, you can come anyday over to campus, talk directly to the students and get to know things π or else contact any of the alumni as well π !
