[2013] NMIMS Final Results Discussion!

Have core seats been increased to 420 or it is just a rumour?

@Abhaysood @manas22 : is there any extension allowed in joining the program: say if the program starts at 11 th june, can i join from 23 june 2013. As i would like to close some pending matters before joining. Please provide some help if it is possible or has anybody done it before.

Also the no of seats in each branch, core, banking and capital because there is a large speculation going on about the no of seats in nmims. Please reply soon.

Guys i need some info...

Wot is the batch strength 360 for FT MBA or is it going to increase further.
I am a bit concerned if such a huge batch would complete their summers and placements smoothly...
Some plz help out here

@MBAVichar It was 300 last year. Been increased to 360 this year, don't think they'll increase any further..
@aj23 it was 300 last year.. but d actual intake was 342..!!!
@jamesjoseph2770 Yeah..I too saw that in the batch profile doc..wonder where the extra 42 came from..

yes but that was due to acturial science being disbanded last year, and their student was transferred to core. If i am not wrong...

No. Nobody was selected for Actuarial sciences.
At the beginning of the GDPI process itself, we were told that the course had been disbanded, so I don't think they would select anyone for it, after making the announcement.
@jindalsusheel yes it was bcoz of dat...

I have seen a lot of posts regarding confusion over Migration certificate / Transfer certificate.. I was in campus on Saturday to submit my fees.. The officials there said that when moving from any one university to another a migration certificate is mandatory.. Even if you have studied from Maharashtra itself, Mumbai University or any other, it is mandatory to get this certificate.. Not sure if this query was answered before.. But just wanted to share the info :)

NMIMS Current student pls shed some light on this plz...

Guyz,

Had read somewhere on the forum that most of us think big class size is a disadvantage when it comes to placements.

I personally do not agree with that.
Honestly I would prefer a bigger class. For few reasons

1. You shall hear 400+ solutions for a case or an issue discussed in the class. Everyone shall have an unique way of handling the case, which I am sure shall help in development of our own skills.

2. Alumni Network shall be bigger. Which definitely is an advantage later in career. It could be for teaming up with someone to start a venture or reference to get into a very good company. Good Alumni network always helps.

3. I am more than sure companies dont come on campus with a fixed mindset of picking up X number of students. Why would they give up on a talent just because others were good too.
Rather better teaching would make you better and stronger. Which would enhance your chances of getting into your dream company.
Lets assume their HR people are much much more educated, aware and experienced than we are :)
And all we have is info, mostly speculations.

I understand MBA a big decision in career and lot of money is invested on ourselves.
But trust yourself more than the college you ll chose.
No college is a magic Wand which ll help you live your dream.
We ll have to work hard deserve what we wish for.

I request all to not think short term.
Think for 10 yrs from now. And shall help you clear many issues.

Cheers,

@Kode_A Bang on man ! .....Completely agree.

This is also applicable to those differentiating between MBA core , MBA capital markets, MBA banking , & MBA HR.

Ten yeards down the line , What will matter is how you shape up your career in the firm you'll be working for & not the type of course done from NM.

NM brand value will work for all associated with it ...specially of mumbai branch 😃

hi did ne body get a 12L plus package in capital markets this year?hi did ne body get a 12L plus package in capital markets this year?
AFAIK, two people fetched 16 lac package this year from capital markets.
This was confirmed from the FB admins of capital market.
Few other facts -
- Average was around 8-8.5
- Lowest offered was 7 lacs
- As said before, highest package offered was 16 lacs
- Profiles offered were Equity analyst, Market analyst, Equity manager, etc
- All capital markets guys have to slog out with core finance guys.
- You'll get 10-11 good opportunities to convert 8l to 10l offer. Make best use of it.
ATB 😃

but NMIMS CM..has better placements??
right?
See the post aqbove this one :)

If I may add to the cauldron burning on this thread, regarding the placements/ROI/career prospects/general whatthefuckaboutery - this is coming from a 23 year-old with nearly 3 years of work ex who is excited to join the MBA Core course at NM even though he will probably have to sell both his and his father's kidney to cover the next two years.

Learn to think long-term.

It's as simple as that. Ever since the 5th, my mind has been running numbers over and over again always arriving at a different overall conclusion to whether joining is a good decision or not - considering loan payments, career growth and obligations to the family.

All of which is meaningless, utterly meaningless.

Give yourself credit for converting the call and use your best judgment. To me, the 16-18 L that it will take to get the MBA is a 'long-term' investment. I'm not talking 2 years, or 4 or 6. I'm talking about what you see yourself doing in 15, 20. The job you want to retire with - and wouldn't want to switch just because you see an attractive pay cheque.

To any converts out there, who are still unsure - just take a step back from average packages and additional expenses, and look at the bigger picture here.

Thank you for reading. Hopefully I will see some of you in class come June 12th. :)
