[2014-15] Ask ISB Hyderabad Admissions Director: The Official thread for PGP Admissions

Can anyone please brief about the Procedure? Also I don't have any understanding of R1 R2. How much of work ex is mandatory ?

Hi,

This is not related about admissions as such but a general question regarding ISB. Was there a specific reason for increasing the intake at ISB by going for a second campus? From where I see it 770 is a huge number of Post graduates (with average experience 5 years) to be churning out each year. Does ISB see a risk of the brand getting diluted at some point of time because of this? Or was the increase in intake an attempt to spread the alumni network far and wide in a short span of time?

The growth was in response to several factors - the more important ones being the increased needs of industry for strong world-class middle management talent in a growing economy and the skilling needs of more MBA ready aspirants.

Seniors & Others,

I have a couple of queries related to education loan. Can you please help me with them?

1. Is education loan given only on the tuition fees? Or it also covers expenses like books, international immersion and living expenses?

2. Any idea how much a bank approves - 80%? 90%?

Cheers !!

Lokesh

@ISB.Admissions Hello. My question to you is whether there is some preference given to candidates who have applied in round-1. Actually I was unable to apply for round-1 because I had not appeared for GMAT then. But recently did so with a score of 750 and even for round-2 application deadlines are quite close. Does ISB give equal weightage to all applicants regardless of the round he or she applies? If not, then what is really the basis for having this system of application deadlines through rounds?

Yes, applicants are given equal consideration in both rounds. Applying in R1 provides an earlier decision which in turn makes planning for joining ISB easier - ie., giving employer notices, taking care of personal matters while you are studying full-time etc.

Sir,

Have the interview invites for Mohali location rolled out yet? Also is there a chance that people who have filled Delhi as their first choice of interview and Mohali as second can still get a call? (considering all the Delhi invites have been rolled out)

Please review information at this site for more about the Early Entry option. I would recommend you call us to clarify and get tips on making a strong application.

You should be fine on the GMAT front if you take the exam prior to the deadline. Please note that a strong application is much more than a GMAT score. You may want to review our blog and Youtube channel for more information on creating a strong application.

PGP application portal is functional now. We regret the inconvenience caused.

Hi,

When will the final admission offers be rolled out? Is it going to be a rolling process after the last few interviews are over or will all offers be rolled out on Nov 15th?

Hi @ISB.Admissions .. Will it be possible for you to throw some light on the importance given to the interview in the over all decision process? Does the application as well as the interview have separate points (scores) which are added later to arrive at a cumulative score and then render the decision? Also, can some one be rejected outright after the interview irrespective of how strong the application is?
PS Sorry for too many questions, just curious.. Thanks.. πŸ˜ƒ

Hello sir,

From when will the application for YLP be made available.

All pieces of the application are equally important :) As we have an holistic evaluation process, the written application and the interview are both important. No - the interview does not serve as the basis of outright rejection. Feedback from both interview and assessment of the application are taken into account before determining the shortlist of candidates. The interview serves as a valuable conversation to gauge whether a candidate is as strong as they seem on paper. We encourage applicants to try and put their best foot forward in as many areas of the application & interview as this desire & determination typically are key behavioural attributes that all MBA programs seek.

I recommend you review some of our blog posts to learn more about preparing for the interview. All the best!
