[2014-15] Ask ISB Hyderabad Admissions Director: The Official thread for PGP Admissions

@praachiee

Hello Sir

I have a question about the Early Entry option.

The website says 'Early Entry Option is open for applicants who are fresh graduates/post-graduates with less than 2 years of work experience. '

What is the exact date before application rounds begin that you consider to count the number of years of experience?

I will complete 2 years in August this year and the first round of applications start in September but I am interested in getting a deferred admission with another year of experience before joining the PGP program. Can I apply in the Early Entry option?

Thanks

Prachi

€‹We consider your experience until 31 March 2014. You would be assessed as part of the regular intake this year, but you can request for a deferral. This is done on a case by case basis. Please mention so in your application when applying or send us an email on this once you have completed your application.

Dear Sir,

Can you please evaluate my profile.

By the time I join it would be 7 years work ex inclusive of 2+ years of international experience. To make a strong application please reflect on your objectives for doing an MBA. How does it tie in with your professional and personal objectives and interests. Such clarity helps in framing good responses to our essay questions and during the interview. We look at your academics, personal attributes and leadership potential to gauge your candidature. It is not possible to look at workex background or GMAT scores to provide any indication of strength. This is only possible once a complete application has been submitted.

Please feel free to call our admissions counselors at 040-2318 7474 to discuss any questions you may have about our program or the admissions process.

Hi,

With regard to the full time work experience mandate, please could you guide me as to whether working as a consultant(Contract based employee) would be counted as full time work experience.

Dear Sir,

Can anyone re-apply in the second round if the application has been rejected in the first round ??? if yes then what are the things that should be taken care of this time???
Is it necessary to have the original scorecard or the score that has been given at the test centre will do for the application submission???

Hi,

Yes it would be.

Your question is unclear. An applicant cannot reapply in the same year for cycle 1 and cycle 2. However, you can reapply in a subsequent year.

If you are referring to GMAT, then you don't have to resubmit GMAT scores as we keep a record of it even if you sent it to us some years back .. upto 5 years. While you can apply with the test centre scores, it is important to ask GMAC to send us official scores. Applications cannot be considered without these.

I am currently in Malaysia With more official responsibilities. Returning back to India on Aug 10th. Will have less time to prepare and attempt GMAT for cycle-1 .I personally feel Cycle 2 would be better option for me to apply.

What are the differences between cycle-1 and cycle-2 ? Applying for Cycle -1 do have any advantage over Cycle-2 ? Please let me know sir.

Hi..this is question concerning recommendations - I have 5 yrs of work ex as on July '13 and in my 3rd job currently. Do you suggest getting both the recommendations from my current organisation or would it better to spread it out between my first and current organisation. Thanks.

Dear Sir,
I attended the "how to make your application" webinar a few days back....in that it was mentioned that if we have worked in different roles in the same organization, we could put it as separate work-experiences....
I joined my current organization as a "management trainee" (campus recruitment).....where we had 2 job rotations lasting 6 months each(one in sales the other in project management).....Shall I put these under two different work-exes or shall I club both under one heading with role as "Management Trainee"?(it was my first year in the work force-not too many achievements,....)

Dear Sir,
I have only my first name mentioned in all of my official documents like 10th, 12th, graduation marksheet and GMAT score report. While registering,it is mandatory to fill the last name column. So kindly suggest whether I should fill my last name or is there some other way for such cases?

Mr Kannan,

I am 2013 cycle 2 applicant. I was selected for the interview and I thought I did well in the interview, but somehow my name did not appear in the admission list. Since then, I have been trying to get the feedback from ISB. But your admission team is asking me to come up with a fresh application instead of thinking about feedback. How would I know where I have gone wrong, unless I get the feedback. Please help.

Got u !!

Dear Mr. Kannan

Greetings of the day!
I am a Round 1 applicant and have a total work experience of four years. I have a strong academic background with dual top-ranking undergraduate-level degrees; I am an active, trained contemporary dancer and my work experience has been with two of the best companies in the world in my industry. Would taking a sabbatical at this stage to pursue MBA entrance preparations and my extra-curricular interests negatively affect my application? Please advise!
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your assistance in advance!
Warm regards
Ananya
@ISB.Admissions I have close to 2 yrs work ex in the IT sector. My acads are ICSE 93.2%,ISC 91.5%,BTECH(ECE) 8.81 from West Bengal University Of Technology.I am planning to apply for cycle 2.Is my profile worth a shot ? What are the deadlines for R2 ? By when should I be taking GMAT?

Dear Mr. Kannan.

Good Evening !!

I am a IT employee with 5 years of experience.

I have a few personal loans for which i pay the EMI's.

It is possible for me to consistently pay the EMI's because I hold a job now.

I learnt from the ISB official website that student can opt for an educational loan provided by various banks to support their education.

This sparked my interest in aspiring for an MBA from ISB.

My problem is ,

if i have to pursue my MBA by joining ISB, i would have to quit my job,

considering my current financial condition, it is difficult for me to honour my EMI's , if i dont hold a job.

My question is,

will any of the banks, that offer the student loans for pursuing MBA at ISB,

support me,

by offering to increase the loan amount so that i can continue to honour my EMI's and peacefully complete the course work.

I intend to clear this marginal additional loan amount, along with my student educational loan, once i get back into a job, after the course work.

I look forward to your answer, as i believe that , it can rise my spirits.

Thanks in anticipation.

Dear Sir,

In the education information section in the application it has been asked in both 12th class information as well as in UG information that whether I have a gap in education between two courses.

I have a gap of 1 year between class 12 and my college (i.e the drop year). Do I have to mention this in columns mentioned above? If yes then under which head will it come - class 12th information or UG information?

Dear Admin,

I have a couple of questions, please answer them.

1. Does ISB acknowledge the receipt of Official GMAT score? If not how to know that the score has reached you? ( Because GMAC only says that the scores have been mailed, does not guarantee your receipt )

2. While registering for the account I have given my work-ex till date i.e. June,13. Now i found that it should be counted till April,14. What to do now?

Thanks,
Ravi kiran
