I have a query regarding work ex. I hold an undergrad degree in Marine Tech.I was trained and sponsored by a shipping company during my entire degree, which included full time sailing on international waters for 18 months as a training officer with pay as part of my degree. After I obtained my degree and my sailing license, I have around 1.8 years experience as a navigating officer with the same company.I have taken my GMAT recently and I am planning to apply for R1.I have been associated with this company for almost 7 years now.So how will my work experience be considered?????
Thanks and regards,
Shiva
For merchant navy personnel, experience is counted after the time you obtained your degree until your application. Both your sailing and shore time are included.
I am looking for 20014-15 session, considering same i am having 2 query's
1. I came to know from some sources that selection chances in 2nd cycle are loe, if selected college will not provide you any kind of scholarship as the college authorities had already choosen their candidates for scholarship.
2. Currently, I am having 3.6 years work exp in Aug'13 issue is I leaved my first company due to some salary issue without taking any certificated from them (although i have letter of joining) worked around 6-7 months in that company.
there after worked 1 year in 1 MNC & now working for last 1.6year in an OEM.
what should i do ???
Looking for a positive reply.
All applicants in both cycles are given equal consideration which includes that for scholarships. Usually students prefer to apply for R1 as it gives them more time to plan for moving to ISB.

I am working as an Engineer with the major mining firm Rio Tinto in Perth, Australia for the last 1 year. I want to apply for Early entry option this time.
Could you please answer the following 3 questions:
1. May I know is there fixed number of seats for early entry applicants ?
2. Do Early entry applicants have to compete other applicants with more than 2 years of work experience or only among the early entry applicants ?
3. Can regular applicants (more than 2 years work ex) after getting the admission offer defer it by a year ?
Approximately 10 % of the class in future years will be admitted via early entry route. However, every student will still have the minimum required experience of 2 years.
Early entry applicants will be evaluated with respect to their peers - ie., other early entry applicants.
Yes, deferrals are possible for admitted students but these are on a case by case basis. Students may write to ISB after being admitted explaining why they are seeking deferral.
This is regarding the application form. I have uploaded the statement of integrity(scanned copy), but I am not able to view it after that. Will it be visible only after I have submitted the entire application?

I am very much interested in going for ISB but doesn't feel motivated enough that I will even be shortlisted for it.
Profile:
Work Ex : 4 yrs (no onsite exp.)
Company : Infosys (I.T)
Please tell me what is the GMAT score I shall aim for and am I really eligible to go for it?
As far as I had read about the people's profile in ISB.... I found that though people nearing 5 yrs wrk ex have got selected but either they are non-IT or having good onsite experience....
Work Ex - 5.2 Yrs in IT which includes 2 Yrs of International Work Ex. Working as a Development Lead for Major Banks in South East Asia.
Salary - 22 lpa
GMAT - 540
I wish to change my profile from technical to management. That's the only reason why i am interested in pursuing MBA. Request to please let me know my chances of ISB. I suspect the low GMAT score may cause a hindrance but wanted to get the profile evaluated here again.
I would like to know about the future in product management roles after PGP@ISB.
What are the companies that recruit for product management roles in
1. Hi-Tech (technology)
2. Telecommunication
3. IT
Also, please shed some light on the roles/posts that students are offered at recruitment
Regards,
Gautam
I have answered your question separately. Product managers (business & technical) is an important need of technology firms and good numbers of roles are offered by employers. You may want to review the career services report here for addl insight and I recommend calling our counseling team to discuss your aspirations:
The Class of 2012 placement season witnessed participation from leading domestic and international companies, offering roles across varied functions and geographies. The consulting sector continued to be in demand constituting over 30% of offers followed by Technology which yielded about 28% of...

It is not possible to evaluate profiles. I suggest you call our counseling team at 040-2318 - 7474 to discuss your MBA plans and why you would like to pursue an MBA. If you have already thought about what kind of managerial roles you are targeting it will help you make a strong application. Most top b-schools do not use a cut off for GMAT scores and typically ISB classes have GMAT in the 600-800 range. The rest of your application is also quite important in our process as it helps us understand your focus and drive to apply yourself towards your goals.
I had recieved the official score report in June in which my QA percentile was 83 . Yesterday while downloading the official score report from the GMAC website , the percentile showed 81. What should I fill in the ISB application form. I had requested score reports to be sent to ISB during my test. So I am not sure which percentile would they have received and would there be a mismatch. Please do reply as i need to get this cleared and submit the application.
My GMAT Score is 730 (Quant-51,Verbal-37) , AWA 5.5 and IR 8
I gave my exam in September 2012
At that time my percentiles were as follows: Quant-98, Verbal-81, AWA-77, IR-92
However, after GMAC updated its percentile tables in July 2013, the present percentiles are: Quant-97, Verbal-82, AWA-80, IR-93
Should I download a new score report from GMAC website and mention the new percentiles in the ISB application or should I mention the old percentiles?
Kindly advise me in the issue
Please mention what was initially provided to you by GMAT. No need to download a new score report. For further clarification you can write to app help @ isb . edu (no spaces).
I intend to apply for ISB in R1 itself.I gave my test on 31Aug, 2013. I have my unofficial GMAT scores report. Will uploading the same and writing the same percentiles suffice??I have completed all the remaining aspects of the application form
It may take 15 days for the official report to reach ISB as mentioned by GMAC and the deadline is 15 Septemeber.
Will it create any problem or should I apply in R2?
Also the statement of integrity pdf is not visible after uploading? Will it be visible once I finally submit the application?
Dear sir, I aspire to join 2014-15 class of PGP at ISB. My earlier GMAT score was 670 but latest score is 640 whose official statement is awaited. During the exam, I have already requested to send official score to the institution... Please guide me whether I should apply with my 670 score or latest one....

Please call or email app help @ isb . edu (no spaces) 040-2318-7472 for any technical difficulty with the application. Number of years of wkex is not relevant, your takeaways, learnings and how your personal & professional experiences have shaped your thinking are more important to the application. Do not worry about your GMAT scores reaching us - so long as you have asked GMAC to mail them and uploaded your unofficial scores.

There seems to be some misinformation on this site, .. as per GMAC requirements ISB will only consider your highest GMAT score from all attempts. In your case this is 670 as per the info you have noted. Please pay adequate attention to your essays and prepare for your interview if invited.
I have a doubt regarding the documentation required for income proof of parents. The ISB application portal says -
If your parent does not earn anything and is currently a "Home maker", you may declare the same on a sheet of paper, the time when they stopped working, their current age and also that they are not earning anything ,including the reasons for the same, scan the same in PDF and upload
However, I have also an affidavit and income-proof certificate from the mayor of the city certifying that my father no longer earns anything owing to old age (71 years) and health issues. Should I also upload the pdf scan copies of these documents in addition to the self-declaration in the Upload Documents section of the application portal?
