1. You are very much eligible to apply to GIM, GOA.

2. GIM takes admit through XAT. It also accepted CMAT Scores in the last season.

3. The notification for the next batch is expected in the month of September.

4. Cut off last year was 76.48% in XAT and 198 marks in CMAT with No Sectional Cut Offs.

5. Hope this helps. Get back for any further query. All the Best.. !!

My 2 cents on this: I am a working professional who is attempting CAT for the second time. Had scored 94%ile in QA, but a dismal 88% overall. However i converted NMIMS HR & Banking management but not the CORE that i was lokoking for, however this year after joining work, im unable to find time to study due to training and all, yet somehow, i feel optimistic that i will be able to do something real good in the last 2 months, ie, Sept & Oct when my training is over. I plan to give CAT and November, along with that i decided to apply for all exams like IIFT, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT and every other exam you can think of, because you never know when u might get lucky. And this does not go out to people who think that the only thing that can rescue their life is an IIM call, i dont think other top B schools in India are far behind(besides i have a spl love for NM&SIBM; bcoz i wanna study in that are :mg: ) Whats ur take on my last statement @[370697:avinashkrjha]?

Yes, you are kind of right. Apart from IIM's, there are other good institutes as well who are not very far behind. NMIMS, JBIMS, SIBM, IIFT,IIT-B etc being few of them.
Hey guys,

I'm new to Pagalguy. First of all, great forum you people have here. In this thread I would like to know few details, which I guess would be useful to the fellow members. So people, start flooding with the information that you have. The queries that I have are,

1)I have 92.8% in X, 84.2 in XII and 73% in graduation. What score should I aim for so that I could get calls from the top 25 institutes? Are these acads good enough?

2) There are plenty of colleges and tests going on for admission into B-schools, so please help me with the major tests that I should be applying for to get admission into a college.
I know the basic one's (CAT, XLRI, SNAP). What more?

3)The dates of application for these, the deadlines, fee , exam dates etc.

4)There are plenty of colleges which take up students based on the above mentioned exams, but we have to apply separately for them (like IIT's,FMS etc). So please share the details of such institutes, date for application, %ile required, application fees etc.

Thanks

does scores of a candidate in previous CAT matters??? pz reply soon...

1. Aim for as much as you can. There are few top B-Schools (IIM's mainly) who also give weightage to academic scores for giving calls. Apart from that, it is only your CAT/XAT Score on the basis of which you get a GD/PI Call.

2. CAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT, NMAT, CMAT

3. The notification will keep coming from now on for individual colleges. Stay tuned to this site and few threads.

4. For cut offs of the last 2 years, refer my post on 1st page and 2nd page. I have posted cut offs of almost all the top b-schools.

No, the past CAT Scores doesn't matter. Give your best to the coming exams. All the Best.. !!

Thanks for reply.
What about the exams for which (apart from CAT), the application issue has already started? Also, any notifications from any college till now?

one more query:
The application to these colleges will happen only after the exam is over, or should we apply in advance? in the latter case, it would lead to loss of money if the exam did not go as per expectations.

1. As of now, CAT, NMAT, IIFT has come up with notification. Other than this, no individual college has come up with the notification yet. It will start coming from September 1st week or may be August last week. Stay tuned to this site.

2. There are few college whose deadline will be before exam, for few it will be after exam and for rest after Results. So you need to take a call. All the Best.. !!

First of all please see that no one here is good in profile evaluation for a college. 😃 If we had been , then we would have been somewhere else 😃

Anyways, you have good acads and you should try to maximize your score to strengthen your chances to the best. No one can guarantee that whether 98 should be a suffice score or not.

But, in my opinion, even if it would have been suffice, one cannot guess in exam that how many correct will ensure 98 percentile, so one will try to do the best possible. 😃 So, go ahead and take the paper to get the maximum possible and not worry much about whether 98 would suffice or
not. 😃

Higher the score, better it is for you. 😃

Buddy

Suggest you to take another shot at exams and try to get in better institutes unless doing MBA at this admission offer is an utmost necessity due to some reasons.

All the best!

@[370697:avinashkrjha]-- Great job bro 😃 Thanks for being a major source of info here... Here's my profile:

10th std - 88% (Got Best Outgoing Student Award) in Mar'2004
11th std- Was Head of various School clubs, Host of various events, shows etc... in Mar'2005
12 std-88% (Was President of School Student Governing Council) in Mar'2006
B.E.(CSE)- 79% (First Class with Distinction) in Apr'2010 (May to Dec'2010 gap due to visa problems)
PGDiploma (CSE) - 'B' average grade(70 to 75%) from Feb'2011 to Nov'2011 in Auckland
Jan'2012 till May'2012 - job search in India
May'2012 till now- Working as a Customer Relationship Manager (Planning to quit in lieu of CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/NMAT preparations)
I am going to write GMAT in last week of September... Also, I am going to prepare for CAT/XAT/CMAT/NMAT too but GMAT is my 1st priority now.. Here's my tentative list based on GMAT and CAT/XAT/CMAT

GMAT:
Alliance School of Business
TAPMI
SPJIMR
IFMR
ICFAI(Hyderabad)

CAT:
All IIMs
FMS
IITs (Especially Madras)

XAT:
XLRI
GIM
LIBA

CMAT:
GIM
JBIMS

I am also planning to write IIFT exam.... My primary concern is the ROI associated with the MBA I am intending to pursue... In that order I have prioritised the following (in no order of preference)

Alliance, TAPMI, IFMR, SPJIMR, GIM, IIFT, NMIMS, IIT Madras ( I am not too confident about me getting 99% in CAT as this is my first attempt although I expect to get about 85% atleast in the CAT)....

However, I am confident that I may score atleast 680 in the GMAT. Do you have any suggestions for me?

P.S: I am more impressed with GIM after reading the whole post about Life at GIM thread 😃

1. Good list of colleges you are planning to apply and you have a decent track record.

2. There are few colleges like IIT's for which you can easily decide after your CAT Results. Because the last date to apply to those colleges is after announcement of CAT Results.

3. FOr few, you will have to take a call. And for doing that I would suggest you to give mock exams like AIMCAT, CL-PROC, etc.. Based on your performances in the tests, you can apply to colleges where deadline is before CAT Exam. e.g MDI.

4. Don't think much about colleges right now. Focus on your preparations. Afterwards, you can decide where to apply based on your preparation and performances. But do register for all the exams right now like CAT, IIFT, NMAT, CMAT, XAT.. ALl the Best.. !!

hey @[370697:avinashkrjha]

Do we have a confirmed list of colleges which accept CMAT scores this year??

would be very helpful if you could tell us which colleges are acceptiing CMAT this time
THANX :)

1. Right now, no one can predict that.

2. But I would suggest you to give a shot at CMAT for sure. Last time very few people knew about GIM accepting CMAT Scores as it was decided at the last moment. So don't be in that situation this year.

3. Stay tuned to this thread. As and when any notification comes regarding any exam/college, it will be shared by some of us.

4. Regarding GIM, I will update in few days of time as the decision is taken. But going by the interaction I had with Admissions Team, CMAT will most likely stay this year too along with XAT.

5. ALl the Best.. !!
