[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@ajaygovindg sir, is it worth doing MBA from LBSIM after investing so much in fees....???u do MBA once (generally)...
Buddy, A college being worth or not mostly depends on one's Expectation Level.

I will give you few examples.

A person X is doing a job with CTC of around 5 lacs. Now he wishes to do MBA and wants his CTC to be at least 8 when he passes out of the college after 2 years. So he will roughly apply to those colleges where average is 7.5+ or 8+ (Not that placement is everything, but it is one of the parameters.)

A person Y is a fresher. He wants to do MBA from a Top B-School with good Brand. So, he could apply to Top 20/25 College.

A person Z wishes to do MBA in order to change his profile from Engg to Sales/Fin etc. So he could apply to Top 50/55 as per his Mock Performances or CAT/XAT %ile.

So with these examples, you should understand that the Word "WORTH" is very relative and we cannot comment on the worth of any college here.

Do let us know if you want to know anything specific about the college which you are not able to know from the helpdesk thread. We are always here to help.

Cheers & All the Best.. :)

It is not among the Top 100 Institutes in India as per Pagalguy Rankings.
@talk2.sidharth You yourself say its new! And same is the understanding with almost all here I think. In fact, no one must have heard of it till you (I think someone posted before also!) asked about it!!

With so many established B-schools already in place (with some having not so great placements and according to many is not worth the money), I'm not sure how this NEW one is going to be any different. After all its another private institute!

Plus if you go through their website, most of the links are not functional. There is no listing of faculty, which means they're still in the process of recruitment probably! Also nothing is mentioned about course fees, and with the facilities developed as shown it should be on the higher side I believe! So on the whole, as of now I would say NO, till we can get to know more details.

For more options, get back on this thread after your CAT Results.. !!

@avinashkrjha ..thanx buddy
@ronnie.vats You're already having a Post Graduation degree (MSc). Do check out and research very well about the institutes you plan to join, because an MBA also added to your profile, some companies may consider you OVER-QUALIFIED to be recruited!!! Sounds shocking, but it happens. Also your acads (XII & grad) are also bit low. So do proper research before you join any institute.
@martin_mystry no1 can predict the score..the safe option is to go with your mockCAT scores.. do the necessary adjustments as the real scores are always better than than the mocks... avinash has already given the exclusive list of colleges in different range..if you still have queries , plz PM :)
@DEVILISHANGEL A pretty good analysis , i must say..but i slightly differ on a couple of points

1. If you are categorizing the tiers on CTC and job opportunity , then you need to put SJSOM,IIFT,NITIE in one group (specialized tier 1)..d reason being obvious ,as the average CTC of all these colleges are somewhere over 12 and doesn't fit into 6-12 lacks group.If you segregated the groups on the basis of quality , then i agree that all the colleges are equally good in their niche fields :)

2. There are many examples where an MBA from NITIE or any other college has reached to the ranks of country head, division head or even CEO...saying that a college is specialized in a particular field doesn't mean that other profiles are not offered..u will find many guyz being recruited for marketing,consultancy or finance profiles, but i agree that the number is less as compared to the guyz getting placed in the specialization for which the college is well known.

P.S-It was just an addition and my take on the matter, no intentions to confront :)

You got both right :)
In no 1, you have other schools also in the same foray and since the values are modal, the CTC isn't mentioned to be above 12.
In no 2, ofcourse there are such example, in the same way there are example of MICA guys/Girls becoming CEO of lets say advertising firms, but that apart, at some of of the time, the number of numbers had to be factored in.
ANd btw, There honestly should be a super specialised category for NITIE and XLRI for Operations and HR because honestly its a different deal. Also there is another interesting angle to this, today you pretty much have to be a COO to become a CEO and that is NITIE's advantage even in its specialised category and I absolutely understand that but I am talking about an entire array of B-schools so the categorisation in such a way.
Thank you for adding on btw :)
Added-I just added a super specialised category with NITIE, MICA and XL for being who they are. The upper bound has increased but the lower bound hasn't. That I can justify on PM...This is taking all b-schools into account in the category...

You can expect a %ile of 90+

As you are interested only for HR, would suggest you to apply to the following colleges as of now -->

XIMB
MHROD
IMT

Through XAT, apply to

XLRI
XIMB
GIM

After CAT Results -->

IMI (Good chance of application window re-opening)

Through SNAP -->

SIBM
SCMHRD

@ajaygovindg sir qa=7 with 5 correctand va 19=16 correct what percentile i can expect ?
With 26 attempts & 21 correct, it looks unlikely that you will score 70+

Wait for Results and till that time, suggest you to focus hard on SNAP/XAT. All the Best.. !!

@adwaitjw Just Giving back to the community which gave me so much :)
