@ajaygovindg 53 attempts: 30+23. Expecting 29+(something around 17) correct.
@avinashkrjha said:Yes, there is quota for Maharashtra.For OMS, only 15% seats are reserved. There is no specific cut off.There is a centralised GD/PI Process through DTE and then colleges are allotted as per merit rank.All the Best..
what is the last date for filling app. form for synheam ?
@ajaygovindg said:@CatNCat Accordin to what they say at www.pagalguy.com/forums/gmat-a..., there is no specific cut off score as such. Depends on applicant pool, work exp etc. So you can probably apply and then wait (fingers crossed)!!A one-year MBA program is the only MBA course which can do justice to your 4 years of work exp. Where you do it also matters. Great Lakes is a good option AFAIK, and one of the fast upcoming 1yr programs with good prospects after the course. The profile you may get after the course MAY be in IT itself, and that will justify your 3 years of IT work exp also. You can probably ask seniors in the thread given above to know better about kind of profiles offered etc.
@ajaygovindg Thanks a lot for giving such a wonderful insight.

itm mumbai, IMT NAGPUR , BIMM _ IMDR & MIT (PUNE) , do these colleges also have maharashtrian quota ?
@vip3r said:None of them are worth it. besides IIFT - Kolkata and the one in Joka all management colleges in Kolkata are below par. FYI One of these colleges called/mailed me and congratulated me for my CMAT score a week before the results. Also by some strange luck I qualified for their GD/PI even before the results without even filling up any forms. IISWBM, I thought was a great place : really but PG gave a reality check. Kinda shocked really with regards to this. Its really a sad state of affairs w.r.t higher management education here..
@vip3r Thanks a lot......
@visionIIM-ACL I'm thinking of applying to IIMT - Oxford Brookes University, Gurgaon. They have a good record of international placements and also provide cumulative scholarships worth Rs. 1.5 crores!

Please do enquire about the profiles and the companies involved in international placements. Do a background check and dont go just by what is mentioned in placement report.
It's not just about getting placed internationally, but it's more about the profile, company and the career in long run that these placements have to offer.
Hope this helps.
All the best.

They are affiliated to Oxford Brookes University which is one of the top ranked colleges in the UK. So I thought they must be good. Thank you for your help.

How much %ile can I expect and which colleges shall I aim for?
@Amandeep123 First check if the course is AICTE approved. Else its not going to have any value anywhere!! And then the background check like visionIIM-ACL said to verify the information they have said.
@RTR_Naman You can expect 95+. Consider applying to NITIE, XIMB, FMS and probably MIB/MHROD, MFC/MBE as backup's.
Also look out for few IITs, IMI, IMT, KJSOM after results are announced.

@ajaygovindg cutoff for nitie was 97+ last yr. i guess no chance for 95 %tiler... correct me if i am wrong
@lyfiscrazy Cutoff was 97+, but then do we know for sure as of now that someone will get it or not? No, right. 95+ is just a rough estimate, it can be above or below that also. Hence the suggestion to consider applying to the likes of NITIE, FMS etc. 😃 I'm not saying APPLY for sure. I said, consider applying. Finally, its up to the individual to decide whether to apply or not based on his/her confidence level.
@avinashkrjha Sir I am in my final year of Civil engg. I have the option of joining an IT company and a construction company.
In your opinion what will be better (as work ex) a core job or an IT job??

@Anivesh90 Better responses can be obtained at http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/personal-career-cat-job-dilemma-queries-a-repository-25009670/241279
Anyways, my 2 cents on this. Depends on what you're looking for. If you're not interested in core sector and its a desk job you want then IT/coding, if you have particular interest in Civil Engg. and looking for some work with movement/travel etc. involved, then core job.
Again looking at it from future perspective of doing MBA, then you can think of being part of a BIG/MAJORITY crowd of IT employees or STAND OUT with an experience in core sector.
@Anivesh90 : As Ajay Sir has already answered, Core Sector Experience will be something different as majority of the people are from IT.
But then, I suggest you to take a call on your own. I myself had 2 options 4 years back (TCS & Reliance Power). I joined Reliance Power. But one of my friend joined TCS as he was not interested in core sector jobs.
So give first priority to your interest. If both are fine, then it is suggested to go to a sector where crowd is less and you stand out with an experience different from the majority of the crowd.
Irrespective of whatever sector you join, the point is to justify your work-ex in a proper way. How did you add value to yourself and the company is what is more important rather than the sector you join.
All the Best.. :)
