[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@ansh12345 :thumbsup: sorry buddy :)

@missionCAT13Had I been at your place, I would have applied second time for CAT to get in tier A colleges.. Didn't get you?
I mean u have good job profile, so you'd better try for Top colleges like IIMs/FMS/MDI/NITIE/XL etc.
Or as my pal @ansh12345 siad, you may go for GMAT
@preetic If you're earning in excess of 5LPA, I won't suggest you to apply for Welingkar.
You've to be very sure about the reasons of doing your MBA now. Look for the specialization you want to pursue and then shortlist the colleges based on your preference.

@avinashkrjhahi avi,I hav ......................the numeric part?
Write only the numeric part.. !!

@avinashkrjha: bhai GIM ke application main sirf numeric part dena hai ?? like if the XAT id is XAT5127768 then we have to write just 5127768?

@RockyRocker, @saurav5517 For institute specific queries please post in the relevant helpdesk thread or PM the particular user. Otherwise it is unnecessarily cluttering this thread!

@preetic If you're looking at MBA just with the perspective of packages/salary, then the Tier II B-schools may/may not meet your requirements. Depends on the companies visiting, profiles offered etc. during your final placements, which is 2 years away!! We can't say for sure what will happen with placements for 2011-13 batch as of now and here we are thinking of something 3 years away in 2015!!

In the institutes you've mentioned or in any Tier II B-School for that matter, you may be part of lucky few who get packages of 8+ (depends on which companies you choose to sit for adn then finally meeting their requirements for the particular job profile & getting selected), or be around 6-7, which is usually the median in most of those B-schools.

can anyone tell me good b-schools for HR......is HR a good field, i mean is there any potential for career growth?
thankz

@preetic It wouldn't be overkill. You can probably apply, and continue doing further research, attend the GD PI and then finally once you have final convert take a call. Worst case if you don't get through or you finally decide that you don't want to join any of those institutes based on your research, you'll at least get the GD PI experience which will be helpful.

So in my opinion, shortlist institutes as of now, keep a budget for applications (10k-20k) and apply to few institutes. Attend GDPI and then after getting final converts take the decision.
@m_bnth XLRI-PMIR, SCMHRD, MDI-HR, TISS, IMI-HR etc. are some good institutes for pursuing MBA/PG in HR.

Whether HR is a good field or not is subjective. It depends on your interest in the particular area. Growth prospects, generally it is said that HR professionals have slow growth, it is a thankless job, it is usually a neglected part (even though it is one of the most important aspects of a business) etc. But then if one has an interest in the particular domain then knowledge & growth will improve and also work will become enjoyable!!
@missionCAT13 I think this will help you - http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4036165 :mg: :cheerio:

can i change my category after CAT??

How much can I expect - CAT 12 percentile:
Quants 20 Qns with 80% accuracy
VA/LR-22 Qns with 70 to 80 % accuracy

My aimcat percentile varied between 70 and 85 % ... How much can i expect in actual CAT?

My profile:
10th ICSE- 90.5%
12th CBSE-91.5%
B.Tech - 7.87/10 (from NIT)
Any IIM calls possible?
what can I expect?

@niranjana_b dont think so

Well you might be correct to some extent. The person about whom I was talking might be having good WE, some professional course like CA or CFA and some decent ECs.But what I want to convey is instead of worrying about the past which, obviously no one can change, let us forget it and work hard for our future which is in our hand. Please understand the essence of the post, dont take the words directly.Regards.
ya sir, Agree.

:)
@sriraghav Calculate the raw score based on attempts and accuracy, and then read through last 10-15 pages in this thread. You'll get an answer to approx. %tile you can expect!! Other factors like normalization, test day, slot etc. are parameters which no one knows how it will be and hence cannot be factored in for the approx. %tiles.

How good is Lal Bahadur Shastri insitute? Any ideas what was the cut off and minimum %ile that was considered there?

Please can anyone let me know what are the CAT cut-offs for ISBM and balaji institute of management>??? I want a feedback for these collgs and wanna know are these worth taking admissions into?? Also let me know the fees structure and averege packages..

@fazer55 IISWBM is not worth it for investing 5-6 lacs. Also the placement scenario and job profile offered if junior level. Its better if you prepare well and try to apply for IIMs, XLRI, FMS .....Sadly, Kolkata is not a good location for MBA.Only B-school to be in Top 100 is IIM-C hence you can understand the situation.Buddy, even I am looking for MBA in kolkata but planning to do in XLRI/XISS .In 5 lacs you can do MBA from XISS which is one of the best for HR.......
hmmm u r right.. could you please tell me the cutt off for iiswbm through cat and xiss through xat???
@fazer55 For IISWBM - Read through this http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/iiswbm-solution-center-2012-2014-25071788/2923815 and PM some seniors you find there. I read somewhere cut off is 75+ but then there are some profile based calls for people with lower percentiles also it seems! And probably wait for 2013-15 admission thread (if it is started!) to ask specific queries.

For XISS as per information posted by seniors in the admissions thread http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/mat-cmat-and-state-exams/xiss-2013-15-batch-admissio-t-89058/p-3613066 it is CMAT-170 marks and XAT-60 percentile
Last Date for XAT registration has been extended to 5th December 2012.
