Havent written a mock nor studied anything in a long time, but writing a mock 2moro, then il decide on what all colleges to apply for. When i wrote a CL mock some 3 months back, i had 93%ile. So far, applied to CAT, IIFT and NMAT

93%ile in a mock is a decent performance. If you are consistently performing like this, you should go ahead with applying to all the Top B-Schools in India. ATB.. !!

I m in final yerar Bsc(Agri).

10th-89%
12th-77%
Bsc(Up to 6th semester)-8.4
80-90%ile in AIMCAT.

1. You have a decent academic record and AIMCAT Performance is also good. Put in some more effort and try to get 90+ if possible.

2. Going by your Mock %ile, I would suggest you to apply to the following colleges for sure :

IMT
IMI
KJ-Somaiya
MFC/MBE
TAPMI
BIM-Trichy
MIB/MHROD
XLRI
XIMB
GIM

3. Few colleges would have deadlines after CAT Results. So you can apply to those colleges after getting your CAT Score. e.g TAPMI

4. If you keep performing consistently, then you can also apply to MDI, SPJAIN.

5. ATB.. !!!

@avinashkrjha Should i focus on AMB/RM or go for BM too.Any tips for IRMA.

1. This is what entirely depends upon you. If you feel that this subject interests you, then you should def go for it as your past background will def help you. Else, you can go for BM.

2. Practise the previous year's IRMA Questions. The pattern is similar every year. Follow the IRMA GK Thread on Pagalguy. You can get lot of materials.

1. Even IB Course is an MBA Course only (in my opinion). Just that you are doing your MBA in IB Course.

2. How is it different from normal MBA Course --> A lot of subjects and case studies are designed to take care of business scenarios from view points like International Political Environment, Foreign Markets (How it operates and how to enter into it), Foreign Consumers, Foreign Financial Markets, Taxation in foreign countries, Import-Export Chain (Supply Chain), etc.

3. There is a focus on diversity and multicultural concerns, International relations and Business strategies sensitive to International Issues.

4. Placements can be in almost all the sectors just like normal MBA students have. International Business Course covers every aspect of industry with just a particular focus on IB i.e. globalization related aspects.

5. Hope this helps. Get back for any further query.

1. First of all, I would suggest you not to get demotivated like this. Request you to make some sincere efforts towards Quants and I am sure you will be able to manage at least the minimum %ile required for some of the Top B-School.
2. But to be on safer side, you can apply to all those colleges who don't have sectional cut offs. Some of them (going by trends in past few years) are : Symbi Colleges, LBS, Fore, Tapmi, few IIT's, GIM, IFMR, KJ-Som, etc.
3. Hope this helps. Get back for any further query.

There is nothing to worry krishoo.

Work on your basic quant concepts that would help you in scoring an average score in quant and then your DI and Verbal can compensate.

There is a GK section in SNAP, IIFT et al. So you can definitely target these exams, and make full use of your general knowledge abilities.

And once you enter a B School your general knowledge abilities will be appreciated by one and all.!!! So just go for it.

Hi,

My situation is slightly different:
I am 31 with 7 years work EX.
SSC 69 HSC 45 Graduation 76%
BS in Physics from American University.
Took CAT in 2004 got 99.4%ile. Only went to IIMA interview, didnt convert.
My primary purpose in pursuing MBA is to get a mentally stimulating job outside india, and prefereably related to The markets/investment banking.
Target destination Asia.
Have to make the following decision: If I do not get into old IIMS due to acad requirements should I :
1) Go for UGC/Insead or some other top 20 international school
2) go for MDI/NMIM/IIFT/FMS/
3) Gmat and 1 year Exec MBA from IIMs?

Should I : retry next year. (Its not a serious option)
I look forward to the advice of informed posters.

actually i m targeting IIFT,TISS,SIBM,SRCC-GBO and MICA...considering my strengths but wanna ask u guyz that even if i leave maths provided i attemp rest of the questions..wont it be a good option and if i do so i can put onus my core competencies....

and also very hopeful towards CMAT..

1.Keeping in mind your vast experience and interest to be a part of a world class institution I would suggest that you give GMAT and opt for ISB or some other world renowned organization.

2. IIM's have started giving lower weightage to work ex of more than 5 years for its 2 year course. So it would become another hindrance for you.

3. Colleges such as MDI/NMIMS/IIFT/FMS are exceptionally good but whether your expectations can be satisfied by them is a big question.

Hope this info helps you make an informed choice.

ATB!!

hi, i would like to know about the chances of fresh graduates intake in IIMs A, B, C and L...does profile play an important role for getting final offer?

I heard last year there were only 10-20 freshers in IIMA (dont know if the source is reliable enough)...moreover I am a male-engineer ( you know what I mean)... i have 98% and 96.5% in ICSE and ISC respectively and 8.7 cgpa upto my current semester( final year at IIT Kharagpur)...could anyone tell me what the IIMs really want when it comes to taking fresh graduates?

@ricsani : Well my frnd last yr got in IIM A- total of 25 freshers were taken. She is an engg and graduated dis yr only. Dunno how many male n female are taken but she got Overall %ile of 99.89 and had scored 90+ in all acads from troughout !!
