[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

Well i back @Brooklyn ... My friend cleared IIM A last year and he says there are around 20 - 25 freshers only ...

@krishoo7 said: actually i m targeting IIFT,TISS,SIBM,SRCC-GBO and MICA...considering my strengths but wanna ask u guyz that even if i leave maths provided i attemp rest of the questions..wont it be a good option and if i do so i can put onus my core competencies....
and also very hopeful towards CMAT..
pls suggest me basic maths chap to cover for scoring average in maths but pls note that i dint have maths after my 10 std...
You can get away with not doing good in Maths in some of the exams but not all.

The sane thing to do right now would be spend some extra time in Quant, as there is still some time left for the exams to begin. Keep working hard and leave everything aside for the next 2-3 months.
I understand your problem that you have not done maths after tenth, but this is what MBA is all about, coming out of your comfort zone.

So instead of thinking i cant do it, just think i can do it.
@ricsani said: hi, i would like to know about the chances of fresh graduates intake in IIMs A, B, C and L...does profile play an important role for getting final offer?
I heard last year there were only 10-20 freshers in IIMA (dont know if the source is reliable enough)...moreover I am a male-engineer ( you know what I mean)... i have 98% and 96.5% in ICSE and ISC respectively and 8.7 cgpa upto my current semester( final year at IIT Kharagpur)...could anyone tell me what the IIMs really want when it comes to taking fresh graduates?
1. My suggestion is not to think much on chances.

2. Focus on maximising your CAT/XAT Score. Other things are not in your hands.

3. ATB. Get back for any further query... !!

1. As already told, don't approach a strategy of 0 Score in Maths or 0 attempt in Maths.

2. If you put in some effort, you would def get few doable questions in Quant as well. So focus on such type of questions in all the chapters and I am sure you will be able to manage that minimum requirement.

3. FYI, Syllabus for Quants in all the MBA Exams is till Class 10th Maths only. ATB. Get back for any further query... !!

Dear @avinashkrjha ,

Could you please throw some light on MBA in Corporate Communication? Is is similar to MBA in Marketing?

Also, is Alliance University(Alliance School of Business, Bangalore) MBA recognized officially? I am interested in Alliance because they give 100% scholarship for meritorious GMAT scores (Above 685)... I am taking the GMAT on October 5th and I hope to get around that score... Would it be a wise choice considering the placements et al?

I am also writing NMIMS, CAT, XAT and IIFT exams.. Not decided about SNAP yet.. Could you please share your views on this?

After a general MBA program, is there any scope to get into the construction industry as i have a specific interest in that @avinashkrjha

@chitresh1990 TAPMI is known for its academic rigor and even placements are also good....

Where do u think TAPMI is located? It is not a neighbor of Manipur or Imphal in northeast.... !!
It is located in west-coast of Karnataka, the educational hub..... known for medical, engineering & management education......

Yes, scope would always be there. Even construction industry would need MBA's.

1. Seeing your profile and amount of your work-ex, I would suggest you to apply for Top B-Schools only.

2. Apply to XLRI, XIMB, MDI, NMIMS, JBIMS, IIFT.

3. You can also think about 1 yr Exe MBA from Top B Schools after 5+ yrs of Work-Ex. ATB.. !!

1. MBA in Corporate Communication can't be said exactly similar to MBA in Marketing. Corporate Communication is something related with Media, Brand building, etc. All these are a part of Marketing. So we could say that MBA in Corporate Comm is one specialised field of Marketing.

2. You should take up SNAP and CMAT as well. There are good colleges through SNAP/CMAT.

3. First of all, try to maximise your score in CAT/XAT/SNAP/CMAT etc. Apply to as many colleges as you can based on your Mock Scores initially and later based on your Exam Results.

4. After you get all the converts, you can decide which college to join. Hope this helps. ATB.. !!

It is not like that. You can take SNAP but seeing your profile, you could apply to max SIBM, Pune and SCMHRD, Pune. ATB.. !!
@avinashkrjha thanx... ur reply has boosted my confidence...

Admission Notification for FMS-BHU is out :).. For any queries you can drop a message on its thread :- http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/cat-and-related-bschools/2013-2015-fms-bhu-admissi-t-84985/p-3600554/r-3712328

Hi All,
I am new to pagalguy..
This year i started preparing for CAT 2012, I am scoring the decent scores in AIMCAT.
My Profile:
Xth: 68.2%
XIIth: 66.4%
B.tech: 73.0% (Electronics & Comm.)
Work Ex: 18 months(till now) in a MNC in IT/Telecom domain.

I heard from lots of people that academics play a very important role in getting a interview calls from the good B-Schools. However I know, if I get a call, I can convince them with even low academics, but it all can happen after getting the call.

Now my question is with the above profile and a CAT(2012) score of more than 95%ile(expecting) , which B-school should I apply to in which no/very less weightage is given to the academics.

Buddy

I will suggest not to refrain from applying to any top B-School just because you think that you wont get a call because of acads. Apply everywhere where you want to study, maximize your score and let rest of the things happen themselves.

I wont suggest to put filter because of speculations of not getting the call! 😃

Hope this helps!

All the best!

Thanks for your prompt reply.
