[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@ajaygovindg
Hi Ajay,
I hav a query and want to know ur views on it. Actually i want to quit my job for full time preparation of mba. Till now i have 2.5 yrs of exp. Do this gap of 1 yr will have a negative impact on my chances of selection in any b-school.Also will it further bother me during my placement.

@RockyRocker You can tag multiple users in the same post. You need not post again tagging each person!!

Regarding your query, there are many people who do this. Its not a matter of grave concern. The only thing to be prepared with is why quit job? MBA requires you to multitask but you don't seem to be able to do so. Also I would recommend, if you're sure you can't prepare while working, rather than sitting completely idle (doing MBA entrance exam prep of course) you can try for internships, certification, contrbuting to an NGO etc.

Search for the the thread CAT/Current job related dilemma in PG Search (top right) and continue there!!
@sayanfrndz There are threads for Why Finance, Why Marketing, Why Supply Chain Management (or Operations) & Why HR. Use PG Search (top right) to find them and you'll get a very good idea about eachby reading through them.
After results are declared you can consider applying to IMI, IMT (if they reopen as per last years trend), BIM T, TAPMI, KJSOM, LIBA, Great Lakes. Not sure about your expected percentile and no point in speculating also now. Depending on your score and last year cutoff's of the institutes you can apply to the relevant ones.

@avinashkrjha Please share the link for last 2 year cut off's, application deadlines and helpdesk thread links once again. Travelling right now so not having it handy from mobile. :)
@DN2686 Quality and Quantity was not a concern I think. It is the Madras High Court ruling which MIGHT stop PSU's. PSU's have recruited last year also from NITs, SPM Gandhinagar etc. Its still only an interim stay order AFAIK. Final verdict is still awaited. Correct me if I'm wrong (Travelling. So not able to search!) So we don't yet know for sure if PSU's will continue campus recruitments.

hello guys, i have an query about my admission in MBA this year , I've scored 80.25percentile in December MAT & I've passed B.tech in 2012 with 81.2 % & in my 10th & 12th i got 85% & 75% , now i want to do MBA/PGDM in finance , please suggest me some good colleges ???

Sir, even I don't know whether summer placements are affected or final placements also. Because as far as I know, 4 SPM Gandhinagar students have been offered job by BPCL this year .
@visionIIM-ACL I think this thread can be renamed to "Which B-Schools to apply under CAT?" For MAT, SNAP, XAT, CMAT the other exams with multiple associate/member institutes there are separate threads running.
@missionCAT13 The stay order cwme some time this year and it is still being debated on the effective date of the stay and the students recruited from campus this year!! Bahut hi naazuk dor se latak rahe hain woh 4 and many others!!!

😐 Now what about NITs and PDU. PSUs are among major recruiters in these colleges.
@missionCAT13 MBA is being "privatized" in the country!! What is not in this country? Multi brand FDI in retail, oil, air travel...!!! Not that i'm against all of that. Just thinking what next??
@saurabhmba6 Check page #274 for a post on MBA at NITs!!

All the best!! :cheerio:

Hello guys,

Please suggest, Is it worth to take admission in Symbiosis institute of management studies for its 2 years programme. I have 5 Years of work ex and I don't prefer executive MBA since its very expensive.

Please guide me.

you have work ex of 5 years :O
IMO, you should target top 20 bschools..
@ajaygovindg I am not talking about the court verdict... or whether they would continue in the future or not.. Basically what i want to point out was the trend that very few students actually applied to PSUs especially in the top B-schools mainly since PSUs were not early recruiters and people were not finding their offers lucrative enough... the matter is otherwise in the courts... dont have much info about that
@DN2686 Yep! I think we both are talking about a different range of B-Schools here!! 😃 Students won't go to PSU's in top B schools and hence they don't go there since some time and now PSU's can't go to other institutes also like NITs, SPM, PDU etc offering some specialized courses where they went till this year for recruitment!!
@ajaygovindg :even then do u think its worth applying 4 IMI Bhubaneshwar or IMT Nagpur on the basis of ROI?

@singhnirbhay I think you meant to say MBA for Executives the 1yr programmes, and not Executive MBA which is quite different as it is part time for 3 years! Correct?

With 5yrs work exp I would not recommend a 2yr MBA from anywhere other than top ones like IIM A B C K L I, XLRI, SPJAIN!!
@sayanfrndz If MBA is not a compulsion this year, NO! Try again next time for better institutes if you're not fine with the ones you can apply post results!!
