Grad: 60%, National Institute of Fashion Technology, 2009
Experience: 3 Years, Garment Export Sector
Extra Curricular: Lots of them, throughout school to college, from sports to drama, have held different positions in school and college both.
Category: NC-OBC
Can I have an idea about which b-schools i'm not eligible for? Please give me a realistic opinion, would help me in the process of filling out forms for different colleges. I expect a percentile greater than 95 in CAT, likewise in XAT
Thanks
Buddy,
Few IIMs , SPJain and SCMHRD look tough to me. Rest, you have good chances at other colleges. But, you should not target just 95+ ... you should be targetting 99+, that is to maximize your score so that at the time of GDPI you have something strong! 😃

1. Since you are not an Engineer, you are not eligible for NITIE, IIT's.
2. Apart from that, you are eligible for all the B-Schools until any B-School sets a criteria of 60% through out.
3. If you are expecting 95+ in CAT, you can apply to : MDI, XIMB, FMS, IMT, IMI, etc.
4. You can see this for knowing Cut Off %iles for Top B-Schools : http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/cat-and-related-bschools/2012-which-b-schools-should-you-apply-t-83927/p-3594168/r-3607915
@shashankg13 said:@avinashkrjha As far as NITIE and IITs go, my classmate is studying at NITIE and was selected in some of the IIT's as well. Thanks for your reply by the way.!!
Oh, is it. Cool then.. 😃 You should def try for NITIE, IIT-B.. !!
@shashankg13 said:@visionIIM-ACL Sir, I was aware about IIMA & IIMB. Not applying for SCMHRD so that not an isuue. Which other IIM's apart from A & B would be difficult for me? And MDI?
And I am definitely working hard to reach that 99 range. Lets see how it goes.
MDI wont be an issue for getting the call if you score 96+ but for converting the call, you should have higher score coupled with good knowledge about current affairs to talk about. Anyways, focus right now on preparation so that your score is on higher end and it becomes tough for them to reject you irrespective of what happens in GDPI.
Shillong and Kozhikode might be slightly tough as well. For I, your work should help you. 😃
Also, slight correction..since last year NITIE is allowing NIFT people if they come through Bachelor of Fashion Technology degree ( 4 year course ) .

Yes, this happened after the admission committee ( atleast NITIE I can confirm as I was in admission coordination committee ) went through the curriculum of NIFT. It was found that quite a few subjects are on lines with those of B.Tech/B.E and hence the change !!
Your classmate in NITIE was the lone person to get a call last year from NIFT and his case made us strengthen the above thought.
xiss is taking sept cmat , rslts on 17oct.. so woukd they set a cutoff for applying or is it decided afet the applications are made ? in any case what would be the ideal score ?
There are many people who are not clear about the specialization . It is always better if we do introspection before deciding to apply for a b-school. There are few b-schools which provide excellent opportunities in finance , others in marketing and likewise... So, we can select a b-school in alignment with the specialization we intend to make our career in.

Most likely, it will be decided on the basis of applicants only. We cannot comment on the ideal score as it depends on the difficulty level also. ATB.. !!
