I am not sure of the exact cut-offs, but it is in the range of 25-30 in each of the sections. But for GA, it is a bit lower. About 12-18 (18 if the GA section is a complete take-away)
These cut-offs are usually a little low for XIMB, and the overall score required too is about 10 to 20 marks less than what is required for IRMA.
KIIT is even lower.... Much lower in fact.
This is just a thumb rule one follows while filling up forms of XIMB-RM and KIIT.

Somebody had asked me about what to read in order to prepare for the GA. I would suggest to read the Competition Success Review and Manorama Year Book (Prioritize the most boring section first) and read more and more about the agricultural, rural, SME related policies, changes and all the things that come daily in the newspapers.

They expect you to see the world though THEIR EYES, and well, its kinda tough! ;)
@BABA_Pencho thnx alot Sir..

If you ask me, I'd suggest you to consider only IBS Hyderabad as an option. Rest all, there is no point in considering.

The reasons are many!
1.) Exorbitant Fee. There is no point in investing 10+ lacs for a Tier 3 college IMO. The burden of a loan is too big after you get out. (trust me in that)
2.) No residential facility which makes the entire MBA worthless in my opinion.
3.) Placements. Not all the students who join IBS get placed. Even in Hyderabad Campus. Only about 250 students out of the 750 get GOOD offers in Hyd. The figures are even worse for the other campuses.

But still if you want me to arrange the IBS campuses according to their credence, then here goes the list: :)

Hyd
Mumbai/Bangalore
Pune/Gurgaon/Ahmedabad
Rest of 'em.

NOTE - Not that in any way I am disregarding the IBS campuses, but the fact remains that, one should consider IBS Hyderabad as a purely back-up college. One should in fact aim to get into a Tier 1 B-School. :)

Go for SP Jain through CAT . Dont go for profile based selection. As for profile based selection requires a very strong profile especially acads and in extracurricular what look for is extra degrees like CFA , FRM or something really out of the ordinary.

1. Specialized financial courses are offered by:NMIMS
K.J somaiya
LBSIM
MFC
MBE
IFMR

2. I can speak for IFMR as it is my college. Here there are specialized courses like Financial Engineering and Developmental & sustainable finance. You can go through our website to know more.

http://www.ifmr.ac.in/
@Dizzy_aussies That's something anyone from IT field who has worked in Java/J2EE would be!!!

No offence meant, even I'm SCJP Certified, but then it never helped me in any way in any B-School interview. Unless you're going to say that you're going to IT after MBA, which I didn't want to, and you also don't want to. Hence its equivalent to nothing!!

You're still in your 3rd year. So you have enough time to build your profile. Contribute to some NGO like Teach4India, take part in some competitions, paper presentations etc. do a good, feasible, practical & significant (wrt its application) final year project etc. are some things you can look to do.

Your profile is not bad for a top 20 B-school. There are some institutes like MDI, IIFT etc. which give lesser weightage to past academics. So you can target them.
@kvrvmanoj I doubt if there are specialized courses in Finance or for that matter any area for 1yr in India. 90% of the courses in India are for 2yrs. There are only few like ISB, SP Jain, XLRI etc. which offer 1yr course and they offer general MBA with elective papers in Finance, Marketing etc.
@ajaygovindg hey I see that you are from Fore school of management.. How is it dude? How are the placement scenario there?

I mean how is the placement scenario there*

@sheronpaul if you can fund up to 7.5-8lakhs of the fees yourself you can think of taking a loan of up to 4lakhs from any bank and getting into good B-schools where fees is usually high. For any loan amount below 4lakhs there is no collateral/mortgage required as per RBI guidelines.

Otherwise if your 7.5-8lakhs is including the 4lakhs I have mentioned then I think a FMS, 1-2 IITs (dont know which all exactly), or any institution which gets some government grants/funding will be what you have to target. LBSIM is another institute in that category with fees of only around 6-8lakhs (including hostel/mess). So go ahead and check out for other institutes like that.

You can also get scholarships from some other institutes with fees slightly above the range you specified. Usually only tuition fee is provided in that. My suggestion would be not to choose your institute based on this criteria. Choose your institute base don other parameters and then eliminate from that based on this fees criteria to arrive at your "to be applied" list.

CAT, XAT, SNAP, CMAT more or less covers it. You can also think of some specific exams like IIFT, IRMA, MICAT etc. based on your area of interest.

@thePANDA For specific queries related to an institute please use PM. I'm not trying to market mine or any other institute here, and in fact its BANNED here in PG. So its always better to use PM, to avoid anything like that even by mistake. One reply by me to your query might start off WW III here!! :P

Sir,

i would like to know the names of MAT colleges with low fee structure.
Thanks in advance.
@parulp30 I dunno much about the institutes under MAT, but like I was telling sheronpaul above, don't make that the criteria for CHOOSING an institute. Use it probably as an ELIMINATION criteria after choosing a list of institutes based on other parameters you have like location, infrastructure, faculty etc. because IMHO, fees should not be the major delimiting factor in deciding your whole career and life ahead.
