Start with the Basics of everything. Get hold of any material (CL/TIME) or some book and start. Next year you can start giving Test Series to get a feel of your preparation.

Personally I feel, it will be better if you don't waste 1 year of your's.. !!

Yes, few IIM's do and they give a lot of weightage to the past academic record.

As I told, it is on similar lines with the normal course of MBA. So, the package would also be similar... !!

i hv got very inconsistent kinda scorin in cl mock test ranging from 43 - 92%ile(not in ascending order..:( ). which colleges should i apply for to be in safe side??

As of now, you can apply to IMI if you have good academic record (65+ throughout).

For rest, I would suggest you to wait till you give your CAT Exam. Because the deadlines are post CAT Exam for most of the colleges except for a few like IMI, MDI. Take your call after Exam based on how you have done in the exam. ATB.. !!

How to find out the grading / accreditation any institute?

@ong_nak - If an institute is accredited to some association, then its official website will tell you everything about it!
Lets take Symbiosis International University as an example. All the institutes under the umbrella of SIU says pretty loudly that its been given an A grade by NAAC!!

My point is, the affiliations and accreditations are usually things to be shown off by the universities. One cannot fake it, coz if they do, then that is a crime under the court of law.

So, its simple, if you wanna know if the college has affiliations, please check the site.
And don't assume.

my profile is as follows...10th: 74%, 12th: 76%, graduation (commerce) : 64%..can somebody please guide me as to which of the top b schools give comparitively lower importance to acads...specifically please throw light on SPJIMR , XLRI, XIMB, SCMHRD, SIBM and NMIMS


Also do i have a practical chance at any of the new IIMs atleast?(assuming i get a score of above 98 in cat)?

Very few IIMs, SPJIMR focuses on acads more. urs are 60+ in all.. so u wil nt have much problems

Look! I am not deterring you or something, but you see there are thousands of people having a similar academic record as yours, and most of them will take up CAT.

To maximize your chance of getting into the creamier IIMs you need to be in the Top 1%. AT LEAST!

You see, if there are 2 lakh applicants, then one percentile means 2000.

At 99th percentile, there are 2000 odd people competing with you. Think of the odds of getting even a call from ABCL :)
That is where profiles are compared.

All of that above gyaan was to highlight one point - Please don't feel bad if you don't get a call even after scoring a 99+ percentile. There might have been better profiles than yours on the same score.
Even though your profile might be good in a lot of other colleges, the IIM door might open for you only at a supremely high CAT percentile!

Although I might add, the rest of all the colleges like MDI, the other IIMs (excluding ABCL) might as well will accept you with open hands! :)
