@avinashkrjha @Brooklyn

@AbhiOfficial If you are expecting around 95 percentile it will be better to apply at IIT - Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee, TAPMI, BIM, KJ Somaiya, XIMB, MDI, IFMR, LBSIM, FORE, IMI-Delhi, MICA. Cheers !!! :)
@sunwinderpal : hey i dont think cutoff for ifmr,lbsim,and tapmi goes around 95%ile. for the rest, it is true.

I believe this list was prepared before the IIT-Delhi fiasco.
Had it been prepared earlier, then IIT-Delhi would have made it to category-A+

@@sunwinderpal and @All

thanks friend. few more questions.

is it sensible to apply these B-schools with my profile (work ex: 2.5 years by december). currently i am working in infosys drawing 3.6 PA. I understand answering this kind of question is not easy... Just want to know your opinion.

Also i would like to know whether IMT, MDI , NITIE, IIT-D,M out of reach for 95%ile and how much we need to get for them?

@unisol : Quite possible!!!

@AbhiOfficial At present your profile and work-experience is good enough. I understand that people do get insecure with IT work-experience, but there is nothing to worry about. During my GD/PI days I got a chance to give interviews at various good institutions and none of the interviewers were skeptical about me being from an IT background. On the D-Day it all boils down to how you present yourself and how much fight you can put up. Never give up on yourself because of any existing stereotype. All good b-schools want good candidates, IT or non-IT, if you are good, rest assured you will get through come what may.

For your second query, I missed mentioning IMT in my earlier response. Certainly IMT and IIT Madras are not out of reach at 95 percentile infact you have very good chances of convert if you can perform well in GD/PI. For MDI you will secure a call for interview, last year they called up till 94 I suppose, but final conversion will be tough nut. NITIE for its flagship course, PGDIM, keeps its cutoff at around 98 so it will be tough to get a call for it at 95 but for PGDISEM you may secure a call.

Cheers !!! :)

@unisol I completely agree with you buddy, but I just wanted to ensure that the person keeps the options open if our dear CAT throws some surprises. :)

@Rohitphulsunge thanks for the list.

here i see BIM as A++ college.

but in PaGuLGuY rankings it was listed as rank 51.

so which one to believe ?

IIT - Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee, TAPMI, BIM, KJ Somaiya, XIMB, MDI, IFMR, LBSIM, FORE, IMI-Delhi, MICA

@sunwinderpal considering my 'current package' and 'packages these colleges offer', is it a good decision to apply for these colleges or i need to aim for even better colleges?
@AbhiOfficial I will PM you in response to your queries.
@AbhiOfficial : No ranking agency or method is accurate. So take a grand average of all the rankings available for this year of various B-schools.
That would give you a clearer picture!!

Cheers!
@sunwinderpal
@Rohitphulsunge Thank you

as sir said Acads dont matter much in FMS. I have a friend there who had around 5.9 CGPA !!But what matters is how you present yourself to them ATB for CAT n result
@Brooklyn Doesnt FMS have a minimum eligibility criteria of 6.0 CGPA..Is FMS lax in these requirements?

This is pretty strange when i left infy i was earning around 3.8 during 2010 having work ex of about 2.5 years .. Meaning Infy has not increased its pay of freshers by any significant amount ..

IMT had 90%tile cut off last year .. MDI never goes below 98 no matter whats the cut off for GD PI..

IIT B and IIT kgp are the only two good b-schools for a 95%tile+ CAT score

Niitie mostly hovers around 97-98 for the IM course

All the above B-schools are very decent .. more than just back ups .. looking at your current CTC and role .. all of them would be a good bet

Few exceptions could be Fore , IFMR which are better for freshers

MDI and IMI New Delhi's dates are over

@abhimukh19

INCREASE ???? no way....

forget about increase, i think you know that general hike is also postponed.... 😛 (off topic)

anyway thanks for the info...
