Best place I have visited is island of Thassos in Greece. Simply amazing yet to be spoiled by infow of tourists. Still retains the atmosphere of typical rural Greece and having all facilities for a comfortable stay.
Of all the places I have been to the place that is on top of my mind is Lugano, Switzerland.
The pristine lake outside my hotel room, the number of outdoor cafes, the weather, the eurorail trip from Zurich and the pleasure of seeing the apartment complex where Schumi stays during summers

One of the best places i visited is Chokhi Dhaani near Jaipur. Awesome food (vegetarian only ). A great value for money.
Cheers

Definitely Rajasthan though Goa will follow closely
I have always been a sucker for spur of the moment ,bagpacking trips..so the first one on my list is a trip to McLeodganj in May 2007 - for the uninitiated, McLeo is a quaint town in Himachal, overlooking the majestic Dhauladhar range and the abode of the Dalai Lama and a host of Tibetan refugees.
If you like good food, enjoy watching people and nature , if the nip in their gives you a high, if you like to sip hot chocolate early in the morn while striking a conversation with a random Belgian who thinks he's found nirvana in India , like to croon to the tunes of Mob marley on a foggy night at a roadside cafe, Mc Leo is the place to be in ....
The second trip that is particularly memorable was to the Jim Corbett National Park...and what made it memorable was the amazing camp that we had stayed in , at the periphery of the jungle...a wee bit heavy on the pocket...but worth every penny...
Aaaah...travelling just makes me feel soo good !! Cant wait to get over this cat shat to resume...:DDD
next on agenda is a trip to Leh ..experiences anyone? its on my list of 'things to do' before i get into a B School ;)
Of all places I have visited yet ,I have loved them all.But Malaysia is a weird place ..People are too corrupt and lack of vegetarian food(I remember when I searched the whole railways station and got only 1 vegetarian dish and that too at Subways)
I love goa for its lovely beaches and beautiful churches.
Jaipur is good for traditional items and Chowki Dhaani is a must visit there.
Andaman is another great place for its islands and adventure. My first adventure was there as i did snorkelling....
Singapore is a treat for nature lovers.I loved Sentosa islands for beautiful aquarium, dolpins show and the songs of the sea.Songs of the sea is great musical show.....
I would upload some pics soon. But I cn't show you the songs of the sea as it is in video form and not too clear..

I'd go with you ..Malaysia's bakwaas..Thailand is so much more fun...I found KL to be a mighty boring and dead city...was almost disappointed...thou Genting Islands are fun..if u happen to like amusement parks..had a rollicking time there!
wat places did u visit?? heard Langkawi's the place to be in ...
About Singapore , i think these guys have done a brilliant job of making a lot out of nothing at all...there wasn nothing exceptional about any of their so called fundoo places..but the way these guys have managed to package the entire thing and marketed it ...is praiseworthy!
Me thinks Singapore would be a nice place to work in...Wat say!

Whoa ! so many travel guys.. I am no where near you all.. Just started travelling from last 12 months. I travelled few places in india but never explored the major ones. In the last few months i covered few places .
and my best places so far are
- Lisbon and its surrounding regions ( Cascais and Sintra) . Just one word for it . Brilliant . Amazingly beautiful city next to ocean, and a complete contrast to Sintra , a small village having many palaces all contributing rich portuguese culture. The old streets of alfama, well structured baixa(down town) and area of belem in lisbon are worth watching . portugal rocks overall. from algarve to Porto . evry place is worth visiting .
- Madrid . Have to say loved this city , for me this is one city where i can say people live life. great nightlife.. beautiful parks and ofcourse by far the best metro i have ever seen.
Also i really liked the coastal region of spain especially from barcelona towards southern france(area near girona and lloret da mar ). unspoiled beaches and beautiful scenery all along the road .
If you are a history fan , berlin is a must place to go.. breathtakingly rich with history , take one of those walking tours around the city and also to potsdam , it will be enriching experience..
Few other places which i liked in no particular order are Vienna, Budapest , State of Tirol and Munich.
If there is one region i would recommend people to come now is Tirol, Westernmost province of Austria, heartland of Europe Winter Sports and offering almost same scenic views as Swiss ofcourse at slightly cheaper rate.

Nopes. There are better places than Rome in Europe - The 2 most "Majestic" capitals - Berlin & Paris!
Paris is one place where you can go again and again and still not get tired of watching the same old places 😃
Definately dude..wen i plan an india trip. :)
Well i agree with you an Maverick.. Rome was different .. kinda felt that i was lost in History .. But i definately rate Berlin as one of the best ..
If you say Roma Termini was awesome.. Berlin Hauptbahnhof is a league above .., The reichstag, brandenburg, potsdam, and ofcourse all major nazi landmarks... two great cities with different kinda charm .. although i found roma freakin expensive.( McMenu was 6.50 Euros..) :eyepop: when compared to other cities..
ps : never been to paris.. cannot comment on it .

Anybody here been to Prague / Copenhagen ? Heard Both are quite amazing places ..
i went to andaman isles recently.a wonderful place
2 hours flight from kolkata. if for a while u forget that its so far from india, parts of port blair would seem to u like any indian hamlet. but is packed with govt offices.
in port blair the main place to be visted is the "Cellular Jail" u go through that torturous place, visit Veer Savarkar's cell for yourself and attend the sound and light show in the evening and u understand what it took our forefathers to free India
beaches at port blair (cove and wandoor) are simply wonderful.
feel the evening pass by at wandoor, see the changing colours of the sky and stars start twinkling, what an experience
there is north bay island. a coral island nothing else.
ross island is another beautiful island, this is place where the british settled, cellular jail is right acros the other side of the sea so that they could keep a vigil...
it was a short trip couldnot explore more...the interior islands of andaman and nicobar are worth exploring
veggies its a tough place for u. also water here does not suit the tourists
.
Andaman is another great place for its islands and adventure. My first adventure was there as i did snorkelling....
..
@sgs
if u went to andamans before tsunami
lemme inform u that the water park was destroyed in tsunami...north bay also bore the brunt.
now the water park has been built quite beautifully...still water sports have not come up yet.
only at north bay bit of snorkelling goes on....
and i gave a miss to snorkellin rather i watched the corals from the glass boat
The guide and the driver of your gypsy wont allow u to get down anywhere except at some predetermined nodal points, I personally witnessed how they came down heavily on a tourist who threw a gutka rapper inside.
Now about the beauty and serenity of the place, I am short of words to express it. Its an experience of a life time and one has to be there to experience it. The way your gypsy winds slowly through the narrow forest trails in the midst of dense sal trees and meandering streams. Seeing animals grazing freely( sambhar, barasingha, cheetal, elephants, etc). Variety of birds chirping. Open meadows. It feels like heaven on earth.
I also went on an elephant safari and spotted a tiger at 20 feet away. How I wish that I had captured each and every scene on my camera, but then you face a dilemma of wasting time clicking the camera or enjoying wildlife at its best, LIVE.
Kanha the inspiration behind Rudyard Kiplings classic Jungle Book, is a must visit for every wildlife lover.
