hi..everybody..i am a newbie on P.G,
i have just started my CAT preparatiion targetting CAT '09.I have joined TIME but am very much confused regarding how to plan my preparation phases?:banghead:
Firstly i am not sure whether the material i am referring would suffice for the practise phase or not??
- for quant i am referring to TIME material and A.Sharma.
- For D.I ,TIME Material,
- For english am doing TIME material,A.sharma, reading books on a variety of topics (as suggested)and regular newspapers.
I plan to finish the initial preaparation by september and then to go for mock tests.Would it be advisable for me to go for the plan or is it that i ve started my preparation a bit late?

or should go for tests and their analysis from the very beginning ?

Please guide me...
First of all finish your fundamentals by solving the material(basic one)...in case your time test series starts in between you will gradually face some problem and may be ur scores cn b a bit low..bt dnt ever get disheartened coz mocks r nt de end CAT..and moreover you will b in the middle of your preparations...so go for it....ATB

Some suggestions :
Please get hold of a original CAT paper and try to go thru it...this way u will get an idea of the type of questions u r reqd to solve
then u will urself be able to identify whether ur materials suffice or not
Hi all,

For Quant I would suggest Arun Sharma to begin with. I usual problem that everyone faces with this book is that there is no solution for most of the problems but I you have any doubts there is an exclusive thread in this forum where you discuss Arun Sharma doubts. But all the chapter arent very good and I dont think only Arun Shrama will be sufficient. The practice excersises book provided by TIME, the one which has chapter wise questions. I found that book particularly good. I would suggest you to go through that. (The basic material is no good, its too damn easy even for a first timer)
For geometry it would be a good idea follow your 10th standard maths book. Try out all the theorem proofs and stuff. That would help me getting your fundamentals clear.

Hi all,

U can go for CSR which is monthly magzine. Also stay updated with various coaching class magzines from IMS, TIME etc. they help a lot. Also u can take help of guys who have enrolled in any class as the coaching classes also provide GK materials and tests online.
i think the same!! arun sharma is a gud book but it lacks the explanation of answers... how bout having a new thread??
i've done algebra;)

For IIFT you need to have deep gk knowledge... there can be questions on history, awards, current affair... for this you can check online gk.. you will find lots of them
For SNAP current business news, current affairs, punchlines... for this you can refer to institute material.
Plus there was thread on gk last year so hopefully this year also there will be one on PG which helps a lot.
India today, week, business today is great help for GK.
For your GK updates..let me guide you thru vid sm books...
1.For detailed fortnightly news and analysis go for frontline((helps you with the GD part..go for it.if you are really into extensive information)
2.for business updates go for either businessweek(weekly basis)or businesstoday(fortnightly basis)
3Be away frm INDIA today(personal opinion)
4.for capsule GK subscribe to GK today by the CSR group.
5.U have always have newspapers and net..so njoy
Hi all,
For making a good start with QA practice, does Arun Sharma hold good as a standard level book ? If not what are the other books ?
Will the books by coaching centres be useful ?
I am aware that there is a separate thread running for arun sharma, but I am asking about the credibility of its contents with respect to CAT's current trends

I think Arun Sharma is exhaustive enough and would cover all the aspects that u would require for Cat...
