Is it necessary to consult like 10 different books for preparation. wouldn't the material given by a coaching institute suffice, if one concentrates in the classes and practice the material throughly?
once again it differs from person to person... but definetely not 10 books !!! that will only add to confusion and wastage of time... classes material is usually sufficient but for va try and do rc's from as many sources as possible ...that will help

Basically, you wont get any free ebooks on net as they are all copyright stuff... even if you get anything free ..it may not be that great.. if you want to go for basics then classes material should be helpful..(you can get 2nd hand stuff if you havent joined any classes)
or another option is correspondence course...
dont just randomly search on net for just any free ebook..it wont help
Hello everybody, I recommend TIME class notes for CAT as well as MAH CET exams. The comprehensiveness of the notes make them very handy for every entrance exam taker.
I believe abhijit guha is extremely good for formulae and concepts while arun sharma is good for weird problems with no solutions!!!
for english, my serious suggestion would be to prepare very little on words and read hell a lot of novels.
I think TIME mockcat DI material is pretty good and the best. Nothing else better for DI prep.
Sir, can u pls suggest sum novels (or authors of which i should read books) ... which will help me not only in CAT RC sec but also developing perspectives for GD/PI's/Extempores??
Will be grateful to you for this ... thanx in advance!!!
I am preparing for CAT '10. I want to know if the book by Wren and Martin for grammar is worth buying or not? Is wren and matrin alone sufficient for grammar? If not, then can you suggest some good book for grammer.
Also suggest some other good books for other parts of English like verbal ability etc...

Thanks A new pagal hoping to get some good help..
Depends on your command over the language; if you are really a beginner (which you aren't), you have to start from page 1 of Wren & Martin. The book definitely helps us in tenses etc. so it will probably help you in doubts over usage of tenses. We can't study grammar as such (so W&M; alone definitely isn't enough) but the usage, words etc. can be learnt from extensive reading and speaking. I've heard books of Norman Lewis are good... one of them is "Word Power Made Easy". Try reading them. And yeah, proper review of the VA/RC you have in your mockCATs will help you to identify your deficiencies.
Other tips: Read the papers daily... editorial articles of the Hindu are recommended (as said every now & then). I would suggest reading e-papers/articles/blogs online - now that the CAT has gone online, it would be good for you - even helping you in the GDs/PIs later on. Also, I suggest you write a blog yourself on any subject of your interest.. be it sports, movies, or even your CAT'10 preparation activities! Will definitely help you in improving your command over the language - and essay writing. And asking someone who is better at English to check it and provide feedback would help. Also speaking English whenever you get the chance will help. And yeah, the English news (BBC World if you have it) Also a bit of English movies will help! 😉 ATB!
How to do wren n martin and how much to do it?? Is the coaching class english material good enough?
Dude .. no need to go for Wren and martin ,coaching classes provide enough material to learn and burn urself and also go through the previous year CAT and mock papers.
its a very common question i know...bt i shall still ask it... i'v purchased arun sharma for quant...a week bk...shud i buy trishna right away or d previous one is good enough?? N WICH 1 IS A BETTER BOOK??
hey guys... i'v purchased arun sharma for quant...a week bk...shud i buy trishna right away or d previous one is good enough?? N WICH 1 IS A BETTER BOOK??
Arun Sharma is good enough buddy! Supplement it with any coaching's material and then move on to mocks of previous years.
No need to go for different books and solving same type/level of questions again and again. Mock papers will take the questions to a next level.

Arun Sharma is definitely good but at the same time u can try Nishit Sinha. The problems in that book are also very good.
