Hey puys, I am going to start my preparations for CAT in a couple of days. I intend to study on my own and have the IMS 2008 material along with some test papers with me. By mid July I'll join the AiMCAT series. Though the IMS course content looks pretty fine, I am not sure if it has enough tips and shortcuts. Can someone who has prepared from IMS material in the past throw some light on this? In case IMS material is not sufficient, how do I access shortcuts and tricks?

i have seen the ims materials last year, they are not up to date,
if you want to prepare on your own try to get the materials of time (preffered) or cl, from some friends or just browse the related thread at pagalguy
http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/requests-or-offers-to-donate-your-old-cat-study-material-strictly-no-buying-or-selling-25039056
then start prepairing and my suggestion donot join the test series mid july, because for most of the students it takes time to adjust with the level of the mocks and the competition, so join it as early as possible , because even if you donot score well you will lhave lot to learn from the type of questions they put

first do all basic stuffs of maths from your 8,9,10 book. And little bit from +2..then
1.maths- quantum cat(arihant),i wl not prefer arun sharma, coz there are some mistakes and not all solutions are given..
2. Di/Lr- arihant is perfect and practice questns from previous cat papers, test funda, and even there is a thread on pagalguy!
3. English- wrenn and martin, coachng institute material like TIME,and try to read anything and everythng coz 50%questions tastes ur reading skills(RC)also there are threads on pagalguy of sentence correction, jumble para etc
join Time especially Aimcat's. They are best..
Edit- the best book to start vocab building is 'word power made easy by norman lewis'
followed by
'six weeks of word of power by wilfred funk'
Hey guys, well i was wondering if you could suggest some books to read on sociology and philosophy coz thats one of the topics in rc that take me some time to comprehend. My reading skills are good but they are ordinary in topics like sociology and philosophy....im currently reading The god of small things by arundhadi roy. i have a few more books lying around the house but i dont know whether it will be a waste of time to read it or will help me...these are...
The story of philosophy by will durant
Davies.an outline history of the world edited by c.h.c blount
are they worth a read?
i dont want to read to much fiction or classics as i have read jude the obscure, jane eyre, wuthering heights and some of dickens.
can someone suggest me good books for VA preparation in GMAT.
Hey puys,
How's are the books by Wilfred Funk?
30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary
Six Weeks to Words of Power
PS: The co-author for the first one is Norman Lewis.
They are good..
Do six weeks to words of power after norman lewis.
These 2 are enough.
