Hi
u cud try Tata McGraw Hills publication. They have sumthing on gk . sorry dont remember the name
also manorama is a good one.
in case you could lay ur hands on the cl gk material,, i think it will be good. i had used it for my snap papers
more imp there is no substiute to reading newspapers. not only will that help in gk but also in english
u may try going thu prominent business magazines as well
hope that helps
all the best

absolutely correct there is no substitute to reading newspapers.....
track all the events n u can make even small notes for u in ur words...
after goin thru detail analysis... of the events...!!
this will make u rememebr the events fr longer time...
manorama ...derek o brien books...r also good ...
read basic questions....where as in book of siddarth basu...
there are questions related to medals specific those quens are not required...
as i hv given this test last yr...so its my analysis...!!

what abt arihant quantum cat?
hey
i think the arihant quantum cat is pretty nice , but it cannot be the only book that 1 could depend on , it has given very brief theory to each topic n in many a questions doesnt even have proper solutions.
but in case you are done with the theory thn it might be a nice option as it has all the previous yrs cat questions
hey neha,
i'm just starting prep for CAT'08.......which books would u recommend for quant....basics n practise......is RS Agarwal fine???

I wud recommend u to get hold of something a bit more difficult... RS Agarwal doesnot have the required variations in terms of difficulty level of questions(personal opinion..open to debate)...
Have a look at Arun Sharma TMH publication for quant. the chapters have a few pages of basic formulae followed by questions divided into 2/3 LODs...hence u startoff with easy questions and graduate to higher ones π
Incase u r just starting with ur preps n hav all ur concepts tangled up π u can go thru at any coaching centre material..
hey
thnx deb.....n for reading wat do u suggest??
hey
thnx deb.....n for reading wat do u suggest??
Nething n evrythin' ... given the breadth of topics covered in cat RCs the best prep that u can do is increase ur reading speed and understanding :)
Try reading different types of articles:
1.Philosphical
2.Scientific
3.Historical
4.Architecture related
5.Music and dance
6.Poetry and critical appreciation etc etc etc ...
The point is that u shud b comfortable with all kinds of readings... btw read the newspaper editorials..helps both in developing reading speed and undrstanding of complex issues... always try to summerise the reading in ur own words and go back to check what all u missed, u wud b surprised by how much u forget !! Develop ur reading habbit...
~~ Frankly speaking I never did much of what I wrote above π but this is what the ideal approach shud be..

Refer to BRMs of any good coaching insti to brush up ur basics... found Arun Sharma very helpful as well... esp for Number theory and geometry. Also, peek into the quant threads frm time to time to get an idea bout the type of probs that can be asked in CAT.
wel abt rs agrawal its like ok for starters but its not something 1 cud depend on .
i personaly referred to book by kundan and pandey which i found pretty nice 4 it has loads of examples and there r difficulty levels for each chapter, the theory is also pretty nice in that .
and in case u want to look at some other book thr is this one by arun sharma which is pretty popular . i think it would be better if you wud browse thru them n decide for themselves.
