are there any certifications from IIM to get command in a particular subject say for example iNCOME tAx 
i hv compltd my engg..and wanted to do mba in fianance...which certifications cud be best suitable for me...kindly help me out..

CIM seems to be the best option. However, the Introductory course is not offered by Bangalore (the only center in India of CIM)
It is only the Professional course that is offered by the Bangalore center, which requires considerable work ex / Introductory course.

It would be great if you can categorize for which area viz. Operations, Finance etc. each of them is for. It will be great help for others hitting this thread in future.
And good to know about Marketing certifications. People were searching high and low and running around asking for something in that area. But no one had answer because everyone were lazy to go back to previous pages and check (including me!!)

Yes, CFA would definitely help buddy if you wish to pursue career in investment banking or related profiles! :)
There are quite a few certifications in different fields but it is not about just going for certification. Certification should align with your career aim and hence depends on which area you want to get into after MBA.

Found few more certifications for people interested in finance + IT risk control/ERM/IT security etc
Ideally a MBA guy/girl working in IT company and interested in Risk/security can try these certifications as these certifications are mainly designed for IT professionals

Hi Nipun, i also came across the American Certification Institute's Certified Marketing Professional (CMP) level 1, which is available for those in the 2nd year of their MBA. It doesn't require prior work-ex.Could you please find out how good it is?

At least you have not been sitting completely idle this whole time. So you can easily justify. Then again it cannot be called a "gap" in your case as you've been working and earning a salary. Teaching is also a profession.
Some of it may sound far fetched, but the options you can look to improve your profile are:
1. Write/Work on some research/white papers in the areas you teach. Since you're a content writer already you will just have to focus it to the area you teach in and do some research articles that can be published in some magazine etc. You can think of associating with technical/professional associations like IEEE, CSI etc. to get them published also!!
2. Some certification in your area of interest in MBA.
3. Continue doing social work and associating with NGO's
4. Participate/Compete in some symposiums, workshops, paper presentation etc.

I am a working professional in IT industry. There are lot of certifications for anyone who wants to build finance profile. What if someone is interested in Marketing with a profile like me. Please suggest. I have a descent profile in schooling an college which includes participation and organizing committee member in various events. At work i have won awards like spot and quarterly award. What more do i do to improve my profile .

am doing my BE final year, worst in academics with low gpa. started preparing for cat before 6 months, i dont want to be worst in mba, suggest me some courses so that i will perform in mba well, if i fails to clear cat the course should help me to get some job. getting job is difficult for me in aeronautics and i dont know any thing about software.

Ajay ji i have mentioned clearly that i want a permanent job in a gud company and right now im really screwed bcoz of the job..... i have done MBA and BE (Prod.) and nothing else other than tht. So wat else do u want me to tell u more than that???? shud i send u my resume???coz i will if u want me to....but apart from that i have tried to xplain my prob. in as simple words as possible NEED A PERMANENT JOB AS A MBA GRAD.
