I recently bought CFA level 1 dec 2012 notes from Om centre..
nice print quality , 1100 Rs.
Actually i initially gave him my address of pune but since most of the time i am at office so thought i might miss the parcel. So afterwards gave my hometown address in gujarat.
anways due to miss communication on my part ,the notes ended up being delivered at both the address .
LONG story short , I have 2 copies of CFA level 1 material for Dec 2012.
If anyone wants it for 1000 Rs , then PM me ur details.

I am new to the forum. I am an engineer. I am from Pune and I have enrolled myself for CFA Level I exam in December 2012. I have also enrolled with ProfitShastra CFA coaching in Pune. How many people want to change their career after level 1 exam? What are your plans? I plan to become a portfolio manager. I also chose Investment Research and Equity Valuation module which was offered to me for free at ProfitShastra along with CFA coaching.

I see lot of discussions around buying the books etc. but I really don't see anybody talking about career prospects. All the people who are sitting for the CFA exam, may I know
- Why are you taking the exam?
- Do you know of people who got into investment banking or portfolio management after CFA Level 1? I know of multiple people who put in time and effort to clear level 1 but they really don't know what to do with the knowledge.
- Have you given some thoughts to applying the concepts learnt in CFA so that you stand out in a job interview?
Answers for me are as follows:
- I am taking the exam so that I can break into management consulting, investment banking or portfolio management
- Fortunately I am being advised by some really helpful industry people. I think they can help others as well.
- I have started reading annual reports and following capital markets. I am also reading up on Warren Buffett.
I will be very interested in knowing what you want to do once you clear CFA Level 1.

frns one thing .. i found the course material on investopedia really helpfull ,which can supplement ur scheweser notes :)
though there r some topics not in syllabus so u can match them with notes n then read..

its very nice of u to bring in this topic, even i was thinking the same about this thread, we can use this thread not only for prepration of the CFA but also building careers.
i am also an engineer working with the software firm, i started preparing for cfa to change my line of work as finance intrests me a lot. i want to be a portfolio manager.
but i always heard that after cfa L1 we dont get many well paid jobs, so always thought of switching only after L2.
could u share with us what kind of jobs are offered after L1, which companies and the salarys theses companies offer. also who are those people who are guiding you.

Same here buddy i am also trying to contact people who are in the industry but I havnt succeeded till now............but I am trying hard........I also want to start work in the finance sector after level 1 only.........as soon as i get to know i will share with you all and if you come to know about the opportunities you share with all of us......

Right now me concentrating on Level 1 exams and plan to get into either IB or PM.
if we are planning to make change into these fields, networking is important. Well trying every bit to get know ppl in this industry, however it's very difficult.

Well it cost me 2195 and yes its new and Flipkart has a 30 day replacement guarantee so no issues there....it also comes with a manual and warranty....if u cant find it cheaper ne where else just go ahead and order....I never had any complaints with Flipkart they r awesum....
