Hi..
I do have the video which if you see in Mplayer X on Mac or I think on VLC on Windows you can hear the audio clearly and use the workbook alongside with it given by Kaplan to see the slides in the workbook, as the video is not clear in that video.
Let me know if you need it.
Kindest Regards

Hi frns....I am going to USA for MBA fall 2012....can I write CFA level 1 from there?? If yes what are the materials I should get from here?
My profile:

sure you can buddy. the exam is conducted worldwide on the same day. take schweser books, video series from here but you will surely get notes there as well. i suspect they will be more expensive there though I am not sure 😛

guys I successfully completed L1 last year so thought I will give you my 2 cents to aid your prep.
1. START WITH QUANT! Once you do quant it gives u a good base for the rest of the curriculum. Atleast do the first study session in quant and then move on to the rest.
2. Ethic is not time consuming. It took me about 3 days to do Ethics one of which was the Saturday before the exam. This approach is NOT recommended but just want to suggest that you do more meaty stuff right now and leave ethics for a little later. (dont undermine ethics. its a very imp chapter, just postpone it a little)
3. If you can manage to get 70+ in Ethics, Quant, FRA, Fixed Income then you ought to pass level 1. Hint -> Focus on these heavyweights. Make sure you are super thorough with Quant, FRA and Fixed Income.
4. The meat of FRA is in the middle two study sessions. The first one and the last one are not hard at all BUT i saw a lot of theory questions on my exam from there. Do the meaty study sessions first but dont ignore the others.
5.Corporate Finance (my fav subject :)), is really easy and very similar to quant (the first chapter). If you have done quant well, the first couple of chapters in Corp Fin will go super fast.
So there you have it, 5 subjects that will put you in a comfortable position very early in your prep schedule. ATB puys! (PS: I did practically the whole portion in a 45 days so never lose hope even if you havent done squat till the end ;). At the same time, I DO NOT recommend that strategy. you are better off finishing your portion early and then attempting prac exams - something I had no time for)
CHEERS :D:D:D
@Slipstream100; thank you for the information.
I started off with Quant and ethic in may..Finished Quant Basic and couple of chapters in Ethics..In the month of June have started of with FRA..now into understanding balance sheet chapter. I have heard taxes is tough..Can you suggest how to go about taxes chapter?
Next month should i start with Eco, FI (Fixed Income) or CF (Corp Finance)..?
Thank you..!

my pleasure. yeah i concur with that sentiment - i found taxes and long lived liabilities the hardest of the FRA lot. try and get your hands on the videos. tho i didnt use them, i heard they are great. so for chapters you find hard, watch the videos once and then study.
if u did quant well, do Corp fin next month. it will revise some of your quant concepts and you will finish it in a hurry. so I would have done Corp Fin and Fixed Income next month.
that means by the end of July, you would be done with FRA,Quant, Fixed Inc, Corp Fin and a little ethics which is fantastic.
as you move on to other subjects in August, keep revising the big4 + Corp Fin by practising questions from the institute books if you have the time or just browsing through the schweser if time is a constraint.
wherever you are studying ethics from, the official institute book questions are a MUST for mastering ethics. though ethics is a lot of theory, your questions will be case based -eg. so and so person has this dilemma, what should he/she do? normally 2 options are very close so practice is the only way to get through ethics

Hi puys,
need ur suggestion.. i did my graduation in B.com and secured 88%.. initially my target was to secure admission in a top bschool so wrote cat but ended up getting less percentile in cat so took up a job which is not related to core finance (into a payroll process). Having a strong commerce background i feel that i could fair well in CFA level 1 atleast. my point is will a CFA alone help me to secure a good job (post qualifying all the 3 levels) without doing MBA??
