Hi All,

I am personally started to feel that this forum is all about arranging notes and joining clases.
Can we not start preparing for the exams by getting our queries together here, that ways it will help those who need help on certain topics.
May be we can start dedicating 1 week for each Study session and everyone one who has queries can post here. also if someone feels that certain thing, certain type of question is important the he can post and let others know, this way we can help each other out in preperation.
If you people are interested lets get started coz it will still take 18 weeks if we start now that would mean we could finish by Oct, Nov then can be dedicated to all the revisionn and practice.
Time is running 167 days to go only.

Hi,

I agree with you. Let's start with it.

Shall we take up Quant -> TVM this week? I have marked the types, but right now I don't have the books with me.

-Anushka

I second that. Would be good if the forum can serve some purpose other than just a center of ebook collection.

TVM is good to start.

hi,
der is no such thing as best certificate, its on ur interest.. if u want to go in personal finance (involves direct dealin wid clients) CFP is more suited, if investment banking and portfolio management is ur interest den its CFA, on the other hand if its accounts n all den its CPA, for intrest in treasury related roles and risk management functions (especially in major banks) its FRM.. if u intrested in stocks and charts and figures den go for CFTe..

as far as business analyst profile is concerned it depends.. if its for IT products or in pre-sales type function, den it has limited help in finance (although sales is an integral part of most finance fields).. dont worry bout acads.. most of des courses are very managable by an engineer.. just figure out ur field of intrest... hope d info helps

hey,
wid ur background and workex it wud be considerably easy to prepare for cfa.. especially level 1.. although i havnt completed my MBA, my seniors who gave level 1 wid me needed nt more den 3 months of preparation.. start early nd giv how much ever time u can dat shud be more den enuf fr ur background.. recommended time by cfa institute is 300 hrs.. but dat depends frm person to person

Hey everybody...

I was just about to start my prep for the CFA Level 1. So I thought I'd check this place out.. Seems like most people are still figuring out where to get their books from, while some have already started studying.

This brings me to my main point - Is anybody interested in forming a study group?

We can meet once or twice a week (or more if need be), practice problems, discuss things we don't understand, solve sample tests, etc.

If anyone is keen on joining us, get in touch with me.. send me (private message i suppose) your email / phone numbers, and we can organize something..

Cheers,

D

Same idea here.
What mode of communication do you have in mind? This assumes importance because of the location differences.

What is your location?
